I like the Dodge overall. In the first three years it had too many warranty problems. None were major and all were corrected by the dealer without any hassle. It gets poor gas mileage but then it is big and heavey.
This truck is built to haul heavey loads and it does this very well. I have some lake property with very steep hills.The dodge climbs these hills fully loaded with 3000 lb camper and tandem trailer.
The truck was ordered with 5.9 liter engine,NV 4500 5 speed transmission and 4.11 axles.On top of these options it has the heavey duty towing package and helper springs. The drive line seems well matched. I like the fact that all these options could be ordered separately.
With the warranty problems taken care of the truck is running great.I plan to keep this truck for 10 to 15 years. My dodge is not optioned out like some trucks that I have seen. All it has is A/C and a sliding rear window. This truck has solid axles and a manual transfer case and should provide many miles of care free use.

The ONLY good thing about this truck is the Cummins engine. We have (knock on wood) no problems with this engine, only the rest of the vehicle.
Dodge Dealer in Hays Kansas was the only decent dealer we have come across, they helped my husband when the transmission went out when he was more than 300 miles from home, moving another vehicle out of the bay to work on our truck...THANKS GUYS.

I would never recommend this vehicle or any Dodge vehicle to anyone. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING we have had to fix on this truck has now turned into a recall. Thousands of dollars later, we are told "OH WELL" sorry you had those problems and had to pay for repairs out of your pocket. Problems include steering (in 6 times before I threatened to own the dealership if they didn't fix the dangerous problem), throttle cable (replaced 4 times with less than 50,000 miles on vehicle), wiring harness (burned up while pulling trailer out of state, had to drive only in the daylight hours)that Dodge was kind enough to admit they were having problems with and gave us the harness, but took my husband over 8 hours to install (they wouldn't pay for installation). Less than 80,000 miles the air conditioner went out, $1,500.00 later.......Transmission, had to replaced at 90,000, another chunck of cash....remember was supposed to be built to be a heavy duty truck (work truck) and NOW the cab is cracked, YEP the cab in a non stressfull area in the back. The crack is about 7 inches long and nothing hits against this part of the truck...go figure we will get it fixed and Dodge will recall it....The dealerships around here and the customer service representatives we have dealt with are rude and uninformed. Will never purchase another Dodge product again. Can't wait for our new Chevrolet Duramax HD to arrive!
