Strength:

When it runs, it is one hell of a truck and wonderful! Sam Hoyt has been Outstanding and the only person at Ford willing to take on helping us in our battle with Ford. Andrea Russell has also been very helpful. Their customer service team otherwise is terrible.

Weakness:

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS JOB NONE! We have been told by their CS Reps- you should educate yourself before calling us- overheard CS Reps- This customer doesn't know what the hell he's talking about... CS Rep- no you cannot speak to a manager... (and no reason why given) Salesmen- You do have X,000 mile on it... and several other cop out phrases. Lost business- this truck has cost us almost what we have paid for it in repairs and down time.

Bought this truck with 69 miles on it and nothing but headaches ever since! Six (Yes SIX) trips to the dealerships in less than one year and STILL fighting with FORD. When it runs, this truck is awesome...when it runs! Trip #1 stuck us in Minnesota with a bad glow plug relay. fixed under warranty but no money as promised by Ford for hotel, food, or other expenses- under 4,000 miles on it. #2 Home 2 months 7,000 miles-DIED in the middle of a left hand turn. Towed to Berge Ford at Fords expense. 2 days and NO rental car later they found wiring shorting out on the a/c unit which shorted out the central computer. #3 Michigan- Middle of June-Relay for the movable pedals shorted out and driving was accomplished by using the cruise controls on the steering wheel. Horse in the trailer happened to belong to a Ford employee. Part was on National back order and -Unavailable(?) until possibly after July 4th! The employee/horse owner drove 20 miles to the plant to get one so we could be on our way. NO offer for hotel room or other expenses incurred during layover, but the truck was repaired under warranty and seen first thing in the morning- because of who we knew. #4 Fuel gauge stuck Lou Grubb Ford dealership said it's either the relay or sending unit. Replaced the relay under warranty. Ford extended the warranty due to so many problems with the truck. #5 Fuel gauge again- Yuma, AZ- after refueling and starting up the truck, we drove around to the back of the gas station to fill water tanks. While idling the needle dove all the way down and the light came on. Had to shut it down and restart to reset everything. Lou Grubb dealership had to be told by us to hook the damn truck to the diagnostic computer in the shop, figure out what the problem is and fix it instead of guessing at it. They tried to claim we had an aftermarket alarm causing all the problems. They (Lou Grubb) had installed the alarm and removed the box but not the wiring before we bought the truck. Courtesy car- Ford Focus for one day use-not to exceed 125 miles! #6 Transmission-94,000 miles Last month- Tranny slammed itself into first gear and would not shift out of it. Next morning would not go into reverse either. Had to tow it backwards out of the parking space with my Dodge Ram 1/2 ton and follow it down to Earnhardts daelership for repairs. Imagine. They have rebuilt transmissions for 1 year old trucks already! WHY??? $3,100- not covered under powertrain warranty (?) Sounds like a screw job!!! No courtesy/rental car again! We were also told it was because we were towing trailers with it. This truck is rated for 12,000 lbs. max Our trailer full to capacity is 8,500. Shouldn't it be able to handle that?

Motor, tranny, brakes, looks, easy and cheap to lift. Strong towing and comforable.

Weakness:

still waitng for any.

I read some of these bad reviews and wonder if Chevy dealers are writing them. My truck is the best vehicle I've ever owned. I was hesitant about buying an american truck after troubles with my Dodge and the horror stories I had heard from Chevy people but this truck has been rock solid for over 2 years. Good ride, smooth automatic, strong brakes and just a nice solid truck. Diesel pulls our trailer and carries our dirtbikes like a dream. No complaints here.

A 2002 F-350 Lariat single rear wheel crew cab with the Power Stroke Diesel. This truck is everything that I could ever ask for in a truck. It has more room than a luxury car inside, it tows like there is nothing behind you, it has great braking and I consistently get between 16 and 19 mpg. I love this truck!

My truckis a 2001 F350 crew cab with the Powerdstroke and a 6 speed transmission. I pull a fifth wheel with it. I had the transmission go out four times in less than a year and under 100 thousand miles. The ford rep. told the dealership that my truck wasn't made to haul trailer, so I ended up paying for the transmission myself the last time. The best mileage I got was 11 miles a gallon. I would think twice before I spend money on any ford again.

Strength:

Overall, appearance is good as well as interior seating in the front being comfortable. Panel lights good.

Weakness:

Total lack of power leaves me with no confidence in this vehicle. The setup in the front compartment with the ashtray having no light and the cup container being above it could easily cause an accident for a smoker.

Purchased this vehicle for towing an aluminum 4 horse trailer. Has absolutely no power and have had the turbo charger replaced under warranty twice in the last 8 months. Also has an unexplained clunk in the body going over little bumps that no one can fix. Have to make a trip over the mountains again next week and know we''ll be passed by every little beater on the road. Do not feel safe hauling racehorses in this vehicle. As soon as the lease is up, this piece of crap will be history. When we replaced the second turbo charger last week, this dealership has no record of the other one being replaced (by another dealership) which would have had to be authorized by the warranty department. Makes me wonder if they are trying to hide something on this vehicle''s history.

V10 POWER; Fuel Mileage-allowing for the fact that it is a GAS engine. Never let me down.

Weakness:

Haven''t found any yet.

I bought my ''99 F350 SD with the V10/5sp manual trans used in 2000. It had 60,000mi. I''ve had about 1 1/2yrs now and it has 100,000mi on it. I regularly gross 20-23,000lbs hauling tractors & farm equipment around. Other than gemeral maintenance, I have around $100 total in repairs during the 1 1/2yrs/40,000miles I have owned it. This truck gets about 10mpg working on the highway, this jumps to about 17 by itself. This truck is the best.

not enough to list

Nothing but problems from day one. I bought the customized version of the F350 modified from Tuscany. Paint job is flaking off. Transmission completely went out in less than 12000 miles. A/C does not cool off the large cab (crew cab truck), deisel engine has had good power but problems with injectors are common all the time. Stay away from this truck and look at the Duramax. Many other problems not listed.

Model Reviewed: F-350

Strength:

Towing capacity and definitely driveability barring the shifting despair.

Weakness:

Manual transmission to rear end gear ratios and a much too restrictive exhaust.

I wouldn''t trade my 7.3L Navistar for even the up and coming Chevy Duramax. Can''t even place that Cummins rattle box in the same category. There are two issues, however that I wish to communicate with everyone that leaves a bit of a tainted aftertaste. I opted the 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive. I like the ability to tell my truck when to shift while I am towing rather than it surprising me when it decides to shift with the optional automatic. The manual transmission is a superb choice but I think the spread between 1st, 2nd and 3rd is way too close with the gearing in the rear end. And at 65 mph I tach close to 2250 rpm which I feel is a bit too high always wishing I had that final gear to go to. And finally, it was Banks Power that woke me up to a fact that few even consider. The big diesels can always breathe better and with most other people I was attacking the front end thinking that is where the air goes in. Well, I am right, but ... thanks to my sales representative at Banks Power, Jeff, he made me realize that it was the muffler and tailpipe on my 2001 that was the problem. He made me realize it by telling me the simple statement that only what can get out the rear end can get in the front end by the same volume. Therefore, with a much too restrictive muffler and a tailpipe that has 2 too many 90 degree bends in it will cause the engine to starve for air. He was RIGHT!!! Now all I need to find is a ring and pinion geared a bit higher to relieve my short shifting and highway speed woes.
