Strength:

Incredibly strong and reliable diesel. Great ride, rides better than my wifes 4 runner. Just a great solid truck!!!!

Weakness:

Dealer replaced a couple of body mounts that were clunking and installed a noise dampening kit on the front springs at no cost that made all the difference.

Just a great all around truck!!!The only drawback is parking something this big. Ride is fantastic, more like a limo than a 1 ton. Can't beat the mileage and power of the diesel. I bought ford because anyone I know who's owned a Chevy hated them (nothing but problems). I'm very happy with this truck and I would highly recommend it.

For a Duely it does really well in the mountains, and rides smooth. I like the four wheel drive, and love the tough look. It is loaded, and very comfortable to travel in. I pull heavy loads often and put close to 900 miles a week on it.

Weakness:

It is a very big pick up, and is not good for town. I have had to replace the a head on it, and a few other minor problem. I usually wouldn't drive a dually.

It is worth the mony if you plan to use it to it's ability. I would buy it again, because I haven't been out pulled yet.
I have had it in for some warrenty work nothing big though. I put a lot of hard miles on this pick up, and I'm lucky that I have a depindable rig.

Strength:

This rig has all the power, size, and looks, anyone would ever need. I'm able to haul my 30 foot trailer without knowing it's there. Infact I look for hills to haul on now, it's just a fun vehicle.

Weakness:

Maintainence of a diesel does take some learning. The dealership tries to scare you into only using thier products. Well don't fall into that trap! I have done extensive research find other products that work as well or better for a much cheaper price, and it's easy to do yourself.

As long as your willing to learn how to take care of diesel truck, ford is the way to go right now. The only problem I have had is the workmanship at the dealer. I took my truck in for some warranty work, and when I picked it up, it had a long scratch on the door. Use the dealer for warranty work only!

I use to drive a 1994 Silverado Chevy Truck, and the power doesn't compare. But I feel that the Chevy is still more reliable than ford. Mabey one day Chevy will be able to perfect the diesel engine. We'll see how well this new chev performs after a few years.

Nice truck, good ride and towing capilities.

could be better on power, automatic transmission weak, poor turning radius, slugish pulling grades.

for towing and heavy hauling it leaves me wanting. I plan on trading it in on a chevy 3500hd diesel with the allinson automatic trans early 2001.

I can modify this vehicle to pull anything on God's Green Earth, it has class and looks like a truck. Comfortable, quiet and love the "Power Stroke sound, smell. Big time truck for a Man's truck

Weakness:

If I can modify the truck from the factory, why can they not take all the restrictions in the computer off, so I don't have to spend more money getting it to perform the way I expect a pick up to, short of being "Semi"

I installed a Performance chip in immediately after purchasing the truck. A 100 HP chip, full set of monitoring gauges and got a ticket empty in Wyoming for 126 miles per hour.... Chip eliminated the speed control, I was tracking the speed with an on-board GPS system. This sucker can move, as for fuel mileage... I did not buy it for that, I purchased it for looks, comfort, pulling ability and ability to accessorize. Will go "Propane Assist shortly. Currently getting 24 lbs of boost and will expect 27 lbs of boost with propane. Also have added a full wood dash kit to the whole vehicle making it very sharp

Strength:

One hell of a work horse. Plenty of space for cargo with the eight foot bed, tows like it's nothing, and keeps up with the other cars on the road even when loaded.

Weakness:

7.3 litre is a pig on fuel. 2X4 drive capabilities limited in the winters. Harsh ride with no load in the bed.

I would recomend it only if it's used for what it is ment for, heavy loads, towing, and hard work

Weakness:

front bed panel too flimsy

The dealer was a pain in the you know what, it took over six hours to finalize the deal(roseville ford) avoid them if possible. Great truck though and worth the hassle. I'll be owning it for a long time. I get constant comments on what a beautiful truck it is. Only problems so far have been a sticky ignition and a noisy(clunking) body mount fixed by ford. On a recent road trip through the sierras I got almost 18 mpg empty. Whats not to love?

Strength:

Superior tow power. Great ride, better than 4x4 1/2 ton Fords, Dodges & Chevies I've had. All the "creature comforts & toys" lots of room inside. Great looks outside. I tow various things weighing from 2,000# to over 9,000# and with most don't even feel them behind me. No straining on the hills either.

Weakness:

Have less than 2,000 miles on it now, but fuel is averaging 14.4 mpg when not towing (based on it's trip computer) hope that improves. When towing it runs about 10.2 mpg. From the inside it would be nice to have a "power" rear back glass - as it's too far to reach from the drivers seat & everything else on the Lariat is "power".

Listed at well over $40,000. If serious about towing, ride, hauling, comfort with all the options, it's still a lot of money, but the best value compared to what's offered by the others.

Similar Products Used:

The power stroke is in a class by itself. No other diesel & certainly no gas engine can even compare. Best ride for a heavy duty truck too.
