Strength:

Good power and tows relatively well. Superb off road handling and traction. Comfortable and roomy interior.

Weakness:

Terrible mileage! 14-15 hwy on a good day. Box mirrors with blind spot mirror that's great for driving down the road but makes it extremely difficult to back up safely. Loud exhaust noise not cool or manly. Short bed really useless for most applications. Shifter is in bad position when in drive.

I drove a 4x4 Dodge diesel extra cab for for 8 years but needed a four door truck to facilitate my guide service. I figured the big cab, Nissan's reliability and mileage would be good...so I thought.

Did not get power door locks,...Man is it a long way, to that passenger door from the drivers seat!

Traded in my 03 Frontier for 04 Titan and could not be happier. After owning 2 F150's back to back before the Frontier I was not happy with the frontier at all and was ready buy Ford again. But after a visit to the Nissan dealer with a recall on the fuel pump of the frontier i traded the Frontier in on the Titan the next week. Its way more roomier than the F150 and with every after market bolt on from intake to exhaust the F150 can't come close to the Titan in power. Nissan realy did there homework, finaly a real full size truck from someone other than the big three.

interior appearance,

I am a service manager with a nissan dealership, I purchased by titan after doing 31/2 weeks of research including discussions with nissan and other dealerships. My titan has been problem free, nothing moore than normal maintenance. I did change by diff. fluid to 75-140 full synth. since I tow a good bit. I was between a titan and a ford f150 it came down to price and warranty. Sure first year models are a little scarey however having been with nissan for 17 years will also have to say it is also the most important year for the manufactor to see that all concerns are addressed so as not to give the vehicle a bad rep early on. I will say that the problems of back ordered parts is a concern, maybe more to me than to the average in that I am dealing with many new models and many customers. The one reason given that makes the most sense and knowing how nissan has done for years is that the parts they are seeing fail are being upgraded with counter measure parts so that the customers are not being given the same part that is likely to fail again. Do I having to wait no but so far I can say that from the upgraded parts installed I am not seeing a recurring part failure. Mean while back to my titan I can honestly say I absolutely love it and have no reservations about recommending it to friends and family.

Power, looks, room galore, fit and finish seems good. Price!

Weakness:

Standard radio could be better. headrests could be moved a bit forward. That's about it.

Nothing in its' class can compare to the Titan. I've driven the new F-150, HEMI Ram, Silverado and even Sierras. I liked the interior of the Ford, the others should be ashamed. The Titans power and ride are uncanny for a 5k LBS truck! I don't see the hype about the HEMI powered Ram. It's slower, has less torque, and tows much less than the Titan. So far The Titan has been flawless except for the radio issue, that Nissan quickly fixed. And the room? You'll not get anymore room in ANY truck, including the HD models!

Strength:

Acceleration, quiet, and most of all...the towing capacity of 9500 lbs.

Weakness:

None that I noted.

Just test drove the Titan! What a truck! Why would anyone buy a Ford, GM or Dodge truck? The Titan has spectacular acceleration and pick-up, is quiet as a mouse, and rides like a Cadillac. I've owned Ford F-150's and have accepted them with their rough ride and loud engines. There really is no comparison. No more American trash trucks in my garage. It should also be noted that I test drove the Toyota Tundra, but the lower towing capability turned me off, although it was a good-looking truck. It didn't have all of the hidden storage nooks and crannies that the Titan had. I'm buying my Titan as soon as the '05's come out.

Offroad package absolutely rocks. I can't seem to get it stuck. Those back doors that swing ALL the way open are just too cool. The power plant and drive train work flawlessly together to provide a man size ride with smooth edges.

Weakness:

Give me some more choices on wheels, these are pretty boring.

I was the consumate Chevy man, but after test driving the Titan, I could barely remember why I loved Chevys so much. Just like another review I read, my grandfather will probably disown me. Even though the truck and engine are assembled in the US, I will still hear about it from my "Big Three Family". But once they drive mine, they will become very silent, I have no doubt. My dad has already driven it and his reaction was undeniably shocking. What's under the hood is what trips most people out, and I was no exception. The salesman at the dealership said my eyes were about to pop out when I got back from the test drive. It's only been about a month since I have had it, but man alive, if it keeps performing like it has been, I will have to take down all of my Bow Tie posters and license plates hanging in the garage. Nissan had to hire a whole team of American guys like me to build this truck. I'm 6'5" and have 3 kids, so space is paramount when it comes to going to the home improvement store to pick up a load of lumber and haul it back to my rural lake home back in the woods. My previous Chevys were very good performers, never had a lick of trouble with any of them except the usual stuff (water pumps, alternators, etc). But this Titan is more powerful than any of the Chevy's I've ever had. I am looking forward to adding accessories over time, hopefully it will last as long as they say it will.

Weakness:

Poor excuse for attaching mud guards--double stick tape. Poor AM-FM radio, but CD player works well. Room by accelerator and brake could be a little better as with work boots on I have hit both.

I drove them all and owned three of the "old" ones. Altho' having a few of the first year productions "querks",Which have been quickly taken care of by the dealer and they have bent over backwards to please me. I am on my second ATP switch and they have replaced my brakes with ceramic ones which they did not have to but since doing so I have not had the problem of black brake dust to deal with, one seat cover and a defective over-flow tube clamp. I have been from Minnesota to Seattle and with the first two gas fills heading out west I got 14.5 MPG in the mountains I was amazed to get 17.8 MPG,I finially got it broken in at about 7,000 miles, I have 11,000 on it now, and am getting consistantly on the open road empty 17 plus MPG. I am well satisfied with that. I bought it with the "utilitybed" package which is a great idea, and have found nothing that I can not tie down. I also bought the "popular options" package to get the better seats.(Captians chairs) and center counsel. All the cup holders and overhead containers are a plus as we take 4 guys fishing in Canada and all our gear so everyone gets a coffee holder. This is a great truck and am looking for another Nissan product for my wife, I am so impressed with their quality and performance.Take a look American Auto Makers, and competition is good for all of us. God Bless our Troops!!

Differential burns up at ~1500-2500 miles

On 13 August with ~1700 miles on the vehicle we were towing a travel trailer (~6500lbs). About 120 miles after leaving home the rear differential seized. The nearest Nissan dealership was ~50 miles away. That dealership paid to have the vehicle and camper towed from Cedar City, Utah to St George Utah, where the dealership was located. Nissan, made no effort to provide any transportation or offered to make any arrangements to get the Titan pickup back to Las Vegas, NV where we bought the vehicle and live. Nissan (corporate) has not contacted us once to inform us of the plan of action. When a representative was contacted, through our efforts, no solutions or assistance of any kind was offered. No acknowledgement that the product may be defective and a fix was on the way was made. The representative was very smug and conceited in her response. When asked about recoupment of car payments for the length of time the vehicle has been sitting at the dealership waiting for Nissan to decide to ship the replacement parts, the representative said they were not authorized to do that. If the car maker is not authorized, then who is? The vehicle has been awaiting a complete differential replacement for almost 3 weeks with no indication from Nissan that this has any priority of effort. After doing some research on the Internet, it has been found that several rear differential problems are happening with Titan and Armada owners across the US. Nissan dealers claim to have no knowledge of this. One website in particular shows numerous people that are having differential problems. http://www.nissanoffroad.net/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11754 We were told today that it will be at least another week before the replacement part arrives. The possibility of 4 weeks in “awaiting parts status” is approaching. Why is there not a consumer alert for potential problems? Model Reviewed: LE Crew Cab

Strength:

Incredible power and torque. Sure-footed 4X4 mode performance; we've taken it off-road, down fairly steep inclines and declines. It crawls up and down loose terrain as if it were asphault. On the road, the transmission shifts VERY smooth. Can hardly feel it shift sometimes. Acceleration is incredible for a vehicle this big. Compared to the F-150, which felt sluggish, the Titan's powerband feels like it kicks in as soon as you tap on the gas. No hesitation or waiting for the rpms to reach 4k-5k before getting torque.

Weakness:

The ride is a little stiff, but that could be because of the aftermarket 20" rims and lower profile tires. Wish it had climate control like my Grand Cherokee. The passenger seat sensor that turns on/off the airbag should have an over-ride. Sometimes it doesn't detect my wife when she sits down (she's only 105lbs), thus turning off the airbags. Dealer service dept. says that there's nothing they can do. Backup radar is useless when the tailgate is down.

When my wife and I were shopping for a full-size truck w/ crew cab, it boiled down to the Titan, new Tundra, new F-150. But after test driving each at least 3 times, there was no question that the Titan was the hands down winner. We bought the fully loaded model, which came with an electronic locking rear differencial and electronic activated tow mode (Wow). Our only hesitation was that it was a first-year release; history showing that usually these are plagued with issues and frequent visits back to the dealer's shop. So far, our only complaint was with the faulty GPS Navigation system, which we had to wait nearly a month to get a replacement for. Other than that, the Titan is an incredible truck with a few first-year quarks that Nissan should address.

Hey Truck fans....I have not bought my Titan yet, but I wanted to share why I "will" be buying a Titan within the next few months (special ordered). The bottom line is Ford, Chevy and Dodge make JUNK. I've owned them all too. Lets get real, american mfg design PLANED OBSOLESENCE into their vehicals. That simple means that after 60K, your going to be reaching for your wallet on everything and anything that can go wrong on a truck. Jap manufacturers are different. I would buy the Tundra but it's not quite a full sized truck yet. Maybe in a few years from now?? I need a truck that will prove reliable past 100K then still fetch a better than average resell. The only vehichals that will do this are Toys, Nissans, and Honda. Yea...you might get lucky with an american vehical, but getting a american vehical owner to come clean and honest is impossible. I could care less if Ford invested 1.8 billion on their new F150...It's still junk after 60K. How do I know this? Because Ford has had the past 20 years to get it right, and guess what....you guessed it! It's "reactive" engineering. Someday Toy and Nissan will build a 3/4 ton truck, I can't wait!
