TRD
Strength:
The Tacoma is a great truck compared to everything else. Ford, Chevy just can't match the quality and resell value (not that I'm selling my truck anytime soon). I have the TRD that comes with the rear locker, a plus if you plan on doing any off-road adventures.
Weakness:
check summary What truck/car doesn't have problems! Just glad my Tacoma will still be on the road when the same year chevys and fords are put to rest! My truck has only minor problems, for example with noises (clutch pedal, rear leafs)... nothing serious. Not to much resell value! Just check your local paper, you'll see tons of Fords! around 1997. How my Toyota trucks do you see? This is because people that own them keep them for life! Not like a ford that is only good for a 2yr lease! Similar Products Used: None |

tacoma v6 4x4
Strength:
good power, great looks, toyota quality. The a/c is ice cold the radio adequate and it handles pretty good.
Weakness:
poor gas mileage after the honda i just traded in. noisy tires and a quirky transmission problem -feels like someone has bumped me after i come to a stop. could be a problem that needs fixing don't know yet. i paid 16,900 for it and i thought it was a good deal considering it is fully loaded with a/c power everything, cd and cassette, v6 4x4 bedliner, sunroof, xtra cab and beefy tires. i would recommend this vehicle to anybody that loves quality and good looks along with great reliability. i also liked the dodge ram 1500 but it cost too much and really sucked on gas 10mpg. overall i think i got a good deal and plan on moving up to the tundra in about 10 years. Fast....very fast. Awesome pickup and go. Gotta love the supercharger. Very sharp looking. Rides great. Got the bottom sprayed with some kind of coating to quiet the sound.......could sleep like a baby in it now.
Weakness:
Sucks in the rain in 2 wheel drive. Extend cab is for looks not people. $23,500 Would recommend it if you got paid more than me. Girls love it!! Similar Products Used: None |

Tacoma 4x4 TRD SR5
Strength:
Let's face it, this is the only compact truck designed with actual offroad use in mind. I am a Ford man, but after having three rangers I just don't think they are on par with the tacoma's durability.
Weakness:
Steering isn't as good as I'm used to, but not bad once you're used to it. I paid $20,500 for a fully loaded new 2000 etx cab 4x4. The TRD package is well worth it if you will do any offroading. I have 33" tires and the V6 still has more than adequite power. Plus when I get bored with it there's always the factory trd supercharger, headers, and exhaust which will put you near 300 horse power! The Tacoma is more expensive than other trucks in it's class, but I think it is more than worth the difference! Similar Products Used: 1988, 1992, 1995 Ford Rangers... the main difference is Tacomas don't break if you beat on them. |

toyota tacoma 4x4

4 cylinder is much stronger than competitions 4 or 6 cylinder. i run 31 inch bfgoofrich all terrains on it and it is great. have offset american racing baja rims and it keeps the truck smooth and more stable. has good pickup for suck big tires. looks sweet and has done everything i've asked of it and more. its very light and goes anywhere. never lets me down after 15,000 miles. bought it with 57k and has 72k now. hope it lives up to the toyota track record. great resale value.
Weakness:
regular cab is smaller than id like but it still it very good and comfortable. wish it got better gas mileage but its worth it for a sweet looking reliable truck. get automatic locking hubs. i like it u can have instant 4 wheel drive but it sucs having to stop, and get out and unlock/lock the hubs. wish i had more than the 2 speakers in the doors. i got a great deal on my toy because the guy i bought it from bought a newer one with the ext cab and v-6. paid 11,700 for it when it was worth 12,700. 9 months and 15,000 miles later it is now worth what i paid for it. its been a great truck in the sand, snow, mud, etc. only been stuck once when i hung the rear axle and the tires packed with mud looking like drag slicks. other than that its been great. get the 31 inch tires if you buy one. bfgoodrick all terrains are great...good ride and minimal noise. (toyota rims/tires stock do suck alot) and if you get off set rims you need fender flares as it throwns mud all over the place. get bucket seats with the center console. wish i had a tachometer so get one if you need it. email me and ill talk about toyotas all day long and give ya my opinions Similar Products Used: 1994 ranger (4 cylinder) 1984 ranger 4x4 (6 cylinder) |

Tacoma 2.7 4cyl std cab
Strength:
Excellent handling in all weather. Best 4x4 pickup on snowy, icy roads I've ever driven. 22-23 mpg highway. Tight drivetrain and steering.
Weakness:
Plastic front end with ugly bumper styling. Expensive, hard to get your way. Poor resale due to cheap dealer lease program. I paid too much ($20,000) but I would still highly recommend this truck with an extended cab. Can get same truck now for $16000. Flimsy sheet metal, but still has Toyota reliability where it counts.....in the drive train and suspension. Similar Products Used: 85 4runner, 85 4x4 PU, 88 4x4 PU, 81 f150 4x4, 96 f350 4x4 |

More power than my ol' Isuzu, best looking truck on the road, legendary Toyota reliablility.
Weakness:
Could handle better, too noisy for a new 4x2, puny stock tires. This, I think, will be a good truck. It accelerates okay, and more importantly it's got a good beefey suspsnsion. I have high hopes for towing a VW beetle back from LA with it. Similar Products Used: 1990 Isuzu 4x4, 1980 Toyota P/U |

Great body styling. Good suspension. Plenty of power(especially when equipped with a supercharger!!!), Absolute blast to drive! Toyota reliability.
Weakness:
I guess you could say that it lacks a little in the roominess department, but since I and my family are short people, it`s not a problem for us. Stereo system is a little weak, but other than that, no complaints. Paid $24,500.00 (TRD package with a supercharger). I`ve owned many Toyota`s, and they were all great vehicles. No major problems whatsoever. But my Tacoma is by far the funnest vehicle I`ve ever owned. You just won`t believe the extra horsepower and acceleration I have with this supercharger. Passing on an open highway....what a RUSH!!! I would gladly recommend ANY Toyota vehicle to ANYONE.
