Toyota Tundra Trucks | Vans

Toyota Tundra Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

Available in Regular cab, Double Cab and CrewMax styles, the Tundra also features three bed lengths, three engines, three wheelbases and a choice of 4X2 or 4X4 configurations.

The Tundra offers three engines and three cab sizes. Handling is relatively responsive, but the ride with the TRD package is stiff. The 5.7-liter V8 is very powerful. The tailgate is easy to raise and lower. A new 4.6-liter V8 replaced the old 4.7-liter for 2010.

Strength:

Smooth engine and quiet ride

Weakness:

Small interior compared to the Silverado.

I have only two hundred miles on it so it is hard to tell but so far I am quite pleased. Paid 200 dollars under invoice and got the special financing rate also. I tested all the trucks out there and eventhough the Tundra is far from being perfect it was the best compromise for my use. If I bought the Sierra, I would have regrets too. For the money a company should be able to build a better truck like the Honda.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Tundra SR5 4x2

Strength:

Toyota. Japanese built. Looks. Frame stiffness. POWER. What else?

Weakness:

Clock, AAAGH!

Wow, a truck that handles like a sports car and blows away anything else with 4 wheels and a bed. I got the 6 speaker deluxe sound system, on par with my BMW Z3's sound quality. The fit, finish and trim is excellent, and the extended cab while somewhat small, can hold 3 passengers fairly well. Overall excellent vehicle. This should serve as a wake up call to the American manufactures, innovate or become extinct.

Strength:

not many except few.
Smooth for a truck, decent torque, OK poewr, but it could be better for V-8

Weakness:

Terrible gas milage; 13 m/g, Transmission probelms, I hear the clank@stopping, Lifters ticking/tapping noise ( I hade this the most, especialy in the winter)Plactics are chips, sometimes makes squeeke noise,
not enough power to toe my 8,000 Lbs boat. It has been already 7 times for repairs; 3 X brakes vibration, 3x lifters tapping and few more. BIG MISTAKE

I am so disapointed with this car. It is over rated and over priced.
Wait for Nissan to come out next year with V-8 with 320 HP and 400 Lbs of torque. The customer service sucks at Toyota. Try to call them and tell them you have a problem. Nothing will get done, and to be more ironic, someone from Client Relations will call week later and will ask you how do you rate CS satisfaction? Hello, my car is not fixed yet!
DO NOT BUY, WAIT there are better things out there to come.

Strength:

Interior noise level extremely low. Smooth driving like a car until you put on the brakes (see below).

Weakness:

Brakes are like the wheels on Fred Flintstones car. My truck has 11,000 miles on it. It has been in the shop four times for brake problems. 1st- turned rotors. 2nd- replaced rotors. 3rd- bad rear drums. 4th- waited six weeks for drums (back ordered). On May 22, I'm going back to the dealership to start this all over again.Toyota said " this is the first time they have heard of such a problem. My e-mail dtsski@lvcm.com

I have no problem with the truck besides the brakes. If you use your brakes at anytime besides in your driveway, this truck isn't for you.

Strength:

This truck is amazing, I've driven fords and chevy's and I didn't think a toyota of all vehicles could top them; but the tundra is ridiculously far ahead of it's copmpetition. I am constantly amazed at how much power the small v-8 puts out, and when the pedal's to the floor, the engine roars like a drag racer. Really roomy interior is a plus, and the box is long enough.

Weakness:

none

It's easily the best full-size 4x4 pickup on the market currently. Definately the best bang for your buck

How does it compare to other full-size pickups? It doesn't; it's head and tails above the competition.

Model Reviewed: Tundra Limited V8 TRD 4x4 4-door

Strength:

This vehicle has the beef and size that you look for in a large truck. The construction is impeccable. Power is more than adequate, as well as the comfort. I've driven it on highway and deep snow and it was extremely sure-footed. The size of the bed and cab is perfect. In-dash 6-CD changer sounds great, but could use a little more wattage.

Weakness:

Clock is in a stupid location. Although stereo sounds good, it tops out in terms of power pretty quickly.

I truely love this truck. I haven't owned one for a while, and I picked a good one to go back to. When I step on the gas, it kicks! It handles off-road hazards with ease. Every month or so I look forward to adding an accessory (step tubes, bedrug, cap, etc.).

I'd like to see about things like TRD Dual Exhaust and grill replacement but I haven't found them yet. Can't wait to drive it tomorrow!

For the money, I couldn't have done better. There's always the SUV route, but you can't haul with those. I'm extremely pleased all the way around.

Similar Products Used:

Ford Ranger: no comparison. Chevy Silverado 4x4: similar power (chevy has more HP but it doesn't feel like it) and cab room, but the Tundra is built better. I really believe it will last longer too.

Model Reviewed: Limited Access Cab V8

Strength:

Great Tow capacity, Haul horse trailer w/3000 lbs of horse inside + trailer and doesn't even flinch.
Gas milage as expected from sticker
Really comfortable interior and smooth ride
Looks great, nicer than wifes 99 Solara inside.
Power, Power and more Power.

Weakness:

Interior plastic nicks up a bit easy, (nit pickin here)
Ok so long drives could use a bit more lumbar support, so I can buy a pad.

My Tundra has been everything I wanted in a truck. I looked for a new truck for a couple of years. Was replacing a 1989 F-250 Ford 3/4 ton with 89,000 miles and lots of needed repairs. Kept wishing Toyota would make a full sized truck with a V8, thank you Toyota in 2000 I finally got my wish and have never looked back. I tow with this truck almost to the 7K tow capacity and no problems no sway, no lugging, can't even tell its back there, even when the electric trailer brakes weren't working, the Tundra stopped it just peachy. I hauled a pallet of landscape bricks today, and yes overloaded it (3,000)lbs but hey, it did it. I see alot of complaints about the tranny/shift/bump I have had no such problem, 17,800 miles and only in for dinky things and oil changes. I get around the oil pan thing cause I take it in. I am seeing alot more of them on the road lately, and they look Great!

Similar Products Used:

1999 Ford f-150 Absolutely no comparison, Ford was weak, no power low tow capacity, many trips to shop, uncomfortable seats. Sat too low to ground.
My Tundra beats the pants off the Ford, and the 2000 Dodges I looked at really looked CHEAP! in comparison.

Excellent!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Mileage!! Is there a chip that can be put in to help?

The 93 T-100 was the only one that I had any problem with. Burned a valve and traded it in for a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 .Totaled it after 30 days and survived with out getting hurt. Bought a 200 Tundra 4x4 v8 and it is still a thrill to drive. If it is reliable as the others I,m a happy camper! Also every truck/car we bought came from Merced Toyota ( CA) Great service!

Strength:

DRIVES LIKE A LUXURY CAR. MORE FEATURES FOR YOUR BUCK THAN THE DODGE OR CHEVY. GREAT GROUND CLEARANCE. EXCELLENT ACCLECERATION. HANDLES WELL. EXTEREMLY GOOD BRAKING.

Weakness:

JUST A TAD BIT SMALL. SOUNDS A BIT WEAK *I'M GOING TO FIX THAT WITH FLOWMASTERS AND DUAL EXHAUST

I'VE DRIVEN MY TUNDRA AROUND THE CITY AND ON HIGHWAYS FOR ABOUT 6/7 MONTHS. HUALED JUNK A FEW TIMES. I RATE IT VERY HIGH SINCE IT'S A GOOD TRUCK FOR YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLAR. EVEN WITH LUXURY CAR LIKE OPTIONS IT HAS ABOVE AVERAGE POWER FROM THE 4.7L V-8. THIS TRUCK IS NOT FOR CLINT EASTWOOD'S, IF YOU WANT A TRUCK LIKE THAT BUY MY 96 DODGE RAM. THIS IS MORE FOR THE MALL SHOPPER, ON THE HIGHWAY MAKING AN APPEARANCE GUY.

Model Reviewed: V6 Regular Cab

Strength:

Ride, quiteness, seat comfort

Weakness:

Middle seat comfort, getting aftermarket equipment, gas mileage (should be in the 20's)

The truck has been great overall. It fits in my garage (barely). The truck pulls my camper and hauls my wood with no problem. My tundra drives and rides just about perfect. Sometimes you have to look back at the bed just top make sure its still there because you would never hear it shift. It now has 27,500 miles on it and I have noticed it is has gotten noiser with the exhaust which I like because it was TOO quite intially. It is a good buy for the money. This truck (my particular model)is for anyone that is single or married with no kids that has chores to haul or other toys to haul around below 5000 pounds.

Similar Products Used:

Toyota Truck (regular cab short bed), Toyota T100 (regular cab short bed 4-cyl)

The T-100 was easier to haul stuff because of its lower height. It also took 3 in comfort and it got 24 miles to a gallon. The tundra rides much higher, but thats perfect for towing. The middle seat isn't comfortable because of the intergrated armrest. Gas mileage is nothing unusual for a 2-ton truck.
