The MRV- T500 is one of the best bang for the buck amps I have ever seen. I am curious on how some say that Alpine is weak in the bass category.
Check this out.....2 JL Audio 12W6s RUNNING 3 OHMS.
Thats right sports fans. Just under 140db coming out of this system.
Hours and hours of "go deaf at 25yrs old" bass. To you people who say that the V12 amps have a whopping 0.3 THD and claim that they are noisy at high volumes....CHECK YOUR FREAKIN' GROUND WIRE GIBRONEY. Also try some quality speakers. I know that the Alpine webpage says 0.3 THD ,but I tell you that is bridged in to a 900w mono mode. This amp is better suited at a 450w x2ch set up. *NOTE- This is at 14.4 volts at 4 ohms. If you have the means, buy an oversized alternator. For those of us running 12v it is rated at 150w x2 (4 OHMS) AND 300w x2 (2 OHMS).I am running my JL's at somewhere in the ballpark of 200-225w per speaker RMS. Bridged 4 Ohm is 600w mono RMS. Again folks this amp is not best suited for a mono load. Will it do it? Yes, but lets point out the obvious.....the hotter you run an amp, the sooner your components will fail. For longivity of any amp please run it at under 80% of the max, unless of course you like blowing your money.
I may not hit the loudest in town, but then again I wanted clarity, not "rot your brain with a bass comp CD".

Weakness:

The conservative ratings have bass junkies looking elsewhere for power.

I give Alpine V-12 amplifiers(especially the T500) my full endorsement due to the surprising quality and sweet look at a decent price. If you get them at retail, they are worth every dime. If you get them on an online auction I promise you that the price will be well under retail. Expert
V-12s are over rated, but not bad at all. Its all in what you are willing to pay. Alpine amps have style and lots of substance....No bull.
Anyone who owns a V-12 and says that they dont like it may sell the amps that they have for cheap. Grab em up before they come to their senses.

Similar Products Used:

Consider the Punch 800a2(although its ugly)it rocks. Orion Cobalt series aint bad for the money. Pioneer Premier amps(look good). MTX 2300(A close 2nd in my book). PPI has many powerful amps, but bring your checkbook and your first born for the 2400. Last but not least MMAT(VERY VERY HIGH DOLLAR). As a note I have installed and/or owned all that I have listed so I know my car audio.

great sound for highs. running at 50x2 sounds great running a pair of components or a set of 6x9s. had polk dx9s hooked up and the sound was outstanding

Weakness:

runs his well but doesnt punch for bass. best used to run mids and hi

i paid 135 for the amp and i am happy with the sound it gives me. again best for running mids and hi. i would recomend it in a heartbeat. cant beat the sound for the price.

Similar Products Used:

memphis 50x4 power bass series. the memphis has a lot more power for subs and for hi. would recomend the alpine because of availability but the memphis has a better sound.

Looks good, loud, cheap (im in the UK where the prices are a lot higher remember?) very easy to install/setup etc etc

Weakness:

Blew up my first Kenwood WS302 sub! (i admit the amp's WAY too overpowered for the sub see review)
gets EXTREMELY hot (burnt myself once) so i gotta seriously consider cooling...

When i first got my KAC 848 (4/3/2 channel amp) i plugged everything in and thought it was loud! (newbie u see) then i reliased the amp was WAY underpowered for the sub - even at 50W RMS x 4 (£250 - USD$360) - i used 2 channels in bridged mode for the sub. The sub wasnt even making any noise. Got a little angry, popped into my audio shop, and asked for a proper sub amp... was advised the Alpine V12 MRV T503 50W RMS x 2 amp. i was really suspicious of this - cuz its the same power as the Kenwood. THe guys said it was great good for subs etc. Anyway fitted it, the birth certficate was actually 90W x 2 @ 12v @ 4ohms (which means 360W x 1 RMS) and connected to my sub. Immediate mile wide smiles! :) very loud... until a week ago, a mate sent me a SPL heavy bass CD and 3 dyas ago, blew my sub... seems the voice coil have gone. (sub was 200w rms - yes i know i know)

I strongly recommend the amp for the price! but i admit i havent tried other amps like Phoneix Gold, etc, but 360W RMS x 1 (actual figure) at £150 is a steal...

Strength:

I have 3 alpine vr 10's and it runs them fairly well. Although it runs two subs much better than 3. Very stylish looks good under perspex.

Weakness:

Really doesn't like low impedences. Can handle about three ohms but starts clipping below that. X overs work fairly well but the PG xs2300 (similar amp)are much better than this one.

I paid $450 Australian (about$225) and it is good for the money. Very flexible amp. I would recommend using it to run splits in 4 ohm mode rather than subs at lower impedences. A good amp to start off with and upgrade later.

5th channel power

I bought this amp over Ebay for a great price. I had it professionally installed, and hooked up to 2 Crossfire Components and 2 12" Eclipse DVC Subs. For the cash, this amp is performing great. The components are nice and clear, even as the volume goes up. The biggest problem is that the 5th channel isn't nearly enough to drive my two subs. I'll go to a dedicated amp soon, and I'm sure that this amp would be great for a 2 10" or 1 12" sub setup, but it just isn't enough. I've also had some problems with overheating after about an hour and a half of pretty hard playing, but just putting the air conditioner on floor seems to have solved my problem. For the starter, this is a great amp, but leaves some power to be desired.

Strength:

Very powerful. Can run down to 3-ohm load without any harm.
Meaning pushing 750 watts from this 500 watt rated amp!
Excellent range on the crossover. Adjustment dials are hard to turn and see, knobs are much better. Solid contruction. Not too big in size. Doesn't overheat. Power output does not drop after many months of use.

Weakness:

The crossovers are not quite sharp enough. Kind of a sloppy x-over point. This needs 24db per octave x-overs. Too bad this amp is not 2 ohm stable, but then again, you can say that for most amps.

Overall a very powerful amp. I run my three 10" alpine Xr10s in a 3-ohm configuration. Although amp only rated down to 4ohms, it plays fine down to 3ohms without heat or fueses blowing. Meaning 750 watts! Bass boost realy boosts the bass! Only downside is the crossovers, but they are still pretty good.

Similar Products Used:

Phoenix Gold XS2300 (about same price). 2300 can push out 600 watts into a 2ohm load. xovers are much better on 2300 (24 db/octave). Overall about even amps.

uhhh..i got it for cost?..looks pretty i guess

Weakness:

retail is a little pricey for what you get,not terribly clean or terribly powerful

This amp is a farce. It is touted as a sub amp and we sell it at my shop for about $325. I would really be interested in seeing this thing push a pair of tens. Sad but true. i put it on a pair of components in my front doors thinking it would certainly make my Quarts holler but ended up having to put the gain 3/4's of the way up to even make them sound like they are supposed to and even then with the volume up it clips. xover is only of the 12db variety..which means it really doesn't do much. basically this amp is not very good for the cheddar you will have to kick out for it. Get a 1507 or forget about Alpine amplification.

This amp is the bomb. Rated at 100W x 4 + 250W x 1. Runs 2 Boston 6.5" RM6's and 2 Boston RX97's. Both Rally series. The sound is soo sweet. Fully independent adjustible gains and crossovers + a 5th channel for my JL 12w3. Underpowered for my sub but still hits like a mother. Digital recombian Class-T is something to be heard. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Weakness:

hmmmmmmm.

Paid 500$ Works beautifully. Amp shuts off power to speakers when possible damage can occur. Saved me a few times. It is a truly beautiful looking and sounding amp!

Strength:

Lots of headroom, good clean power. 1 ohm stable operation.

Weakness:

It's bulky, but that's to be expected with an amp making this much power.

I traded a set of 6.5 inch Bazookas for this amp. It's a great amp and I'd recommend it to anyone. I'm not even scratching the surface of it's abilities, running it at 150wx2 into 4 ohms. Max rating is 1000Wx1 into 1 ohm bridged mono.

Similar Products Used:

MTX Blue Thunder Pro 504-the Alpine is the perfect complement to the MTX, it provides as much power to my sub from it's 2 channels, as the MTX makes from 4 channels.
