Strength:

This amp is very stong for a little guy. I was very impressed with what it can do

Weakness:

Get hot after a couple of hours of play.....needs a bigger heatsink

I bought mines off a friend for $200. It's a great amp. I would definitely buy it a second time.

Strength:

This amp has a ton of power and excellent reliability.

Weakness:

sounds "thin" if used on front stage highs.

I was using the older model 2300 (without the "x" at the end) on three 10 inch MTX blue thunder subs in the back of my 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I live in northern Alabama, and it can get severly hot here, and with my dark interior the inside temperature of my car can go well past 130 degrees. I have played "bass" music using this amp at these temperatures and i had no problems or shutdowns whatsoever in two summers. The power output is amazing, although it will not go below 4 ohms mono without problems. The only qualm I have with this amp is its sound quality on high range speakers. It tends to add a little edgyness or tinny quality. In comparison with some much higher (and MUCH more expesive) amps such as the McIntosh or Butler, the 2300 does not compare, but on subs, its as good as any other amp. The amp broke on me once (the board fried), but that was mainly because of my fault, and MTX sent me a new one in no time. Dealing with MTX repair and customer service is a breeze, and the people there are insanly helpful. Overall, if you are ytousing this amp on subs, its an excellent choise. If it is going to be for higher frequency drivers, its good, but you can get better.

Strength:

Loads of power
Cheap
Built-in crossover
Bass boost (Thunder EQ)
Rock solid amp

Weakness:

Gets HOT...fry an egg hot.

I paid $310 for this amp brand new, and I think it was a great deal. I have it installed with 4 guage power/ground, pushing 2 IDQ 12's, and it sounds fantastic. I've encountered no problems with it, and love the capabilities of it even when pushed hard. It does get pretty hot, but I'm running it at 2 ohm mono (NOT recommended) so far with no problems. The sound quality is excellent and the built-in features are very useful. If you're in the market for 750 watts of class A/B power, check this amp out. It's a great value.

Strength:

POWERFULL!!!

Weakness:

This amp is designed to be used on subs....it sounds moderatly "sterile" or "tinny" when used to run full range.

I bought mine used for about $280, and it was WELL worth it. Amazing amp. About a month after I bought it the circuit bourd burned itself to death (during SPL compitition), but I contacted MTX...sent the amp in...and it came back like new about 1.5 weeks later with no charge. No other company out there would have done this...considering I bought it used.
As far as sound quality...its not as "warm" or "natural" sounding as some of the other amps I listed above, but for subs it is excellent.

Strength:

This is a GREAT amp. It can push 3 10" 5000s to 141 db. It is very loud and very powerful.

Weakness:

Can and WILL over-heat is abused! Yes it does have a problem with over heating but that is only when people put the gains up to high. If you tune it up right it will play for hours and hours. (lets say keep it at 85% of peak) If it overheats alot send it back and get a new one!

$600. yeh I paid WAY to much but that was over a year ago and with a 3 year warrenty.
If you dont push it to the max it will play loud and long but if you abuse it then it will be damaged and wont play right and finaly die:(

The new 1000d sells for 600-700 and is two times as powerful and a "D" class. BUY THAT!

Weakness:

It was a peace of crap from day one

I've had this for almost 3 years and have yet to hear play with out it bloying. I've sent it in 2 times and the last time it came back I hooked it it blew my JL124 so I gave up and bought a RF punch amp and are much happier.

Strength:

Powerful amps that deliver.

Weakness:

They draw a lot of juice.

These amps are pretty pricey, but well worth the money.
I have two of these driving two 12" 7000's. They hit real hard and sound great, but they draw a lot of juice to do it. I had to upgrade my alternator, install a stiffening cap., and add an extra battery to maintain the amperage neccessary to crank these babies. If you're really serious about hard hitting car audio, and don't mind upgrading your vehicle, I would recommend the 2300x. If not, you might find a nice cheap "amp" at Wal-mart that would better suite you. Come big or stay home!

This is a great amp that can be had used for around $300, if not less. I ran 2 12" RF DVCs with it in the best system I've ever owned, and later a 12" CV Stroker in the loudest system I've ever owned. It's never shut down on me, overheated, etc. I've only run it at 4-ohm mono, and it does get hot, but I've never had any problems. You definately need the 4 guage power and ground wire, this thing will suck some amps. I've read test reports stating it puts out close to 1000 watts, instead of the rated 600. Overall a good buy!

The 2300x is a good amp, in the right application.I currently have one 2300x bridged @4ohms driving two MTX Thunder 7000 12's (400w rms each).
Honestly, I'm dissapointed with the amp in this application.
It has a tendency to overheat when played for more than 20 minutes @ 75% volume, and often clips or cuts out at higher volumes as well.
It may just be that I have a bad install right now(8awg power wire, subs that suck too much power, hot location).
Overall, just be sure that you get subs that the 2300x will handle.

The MTX 2300X Power Amp is really a little working powerhouse. It can take 4gauge Pheonix Gold wire to its limits. It actually pulls about 60amps when bridged or in 2ohm stereo. It pushes my 2 12inch D 2ohm SoloBarics pretty good, but I think that maybe they could handle a little more. The Retail price is way to high, buy it elsewhere, I payed just 300$ and the amp is well worth it. The amp's built in cross-over works good until about 89% peaked, then it faded out fast. The Bass-Boost does about the same thing, kind of putters out after you crank the amp, but for the price, this baby is the way to go. Should power almost any sub out there without breaking too much of a sweat. (1.2farad capicitor recommended)
