    Strength:

    power, inexpensive.

    Weakness:

They blew my damn Kicker L7's, but i guess that isn't really a weakness. I guess big current draw and the fact that you have to use 1/0 guage wire. But that's to be expected with an amp making this much power. Another weakness is it distorts a lot, but for the money what do you expect? Can't fit enough subs in my trunk to take 3000 watts.

I recently purchased two of these monsters from a friend for an awesome price of 250 each. One was slightly used, the other brand new. These are some very strong amps. My birth sheets read 1223 and 1258 watts on a 12.5 power supply, making this a very underrated amp because it's only rated at 1000 at that voltage. For the retail price of these, they are an awesome deal. I can't think of many other amps out there that offer 1000+ real world watts for an msrp of $750.

memphis 1000D, decent amp. lots of distortion at 1 ohm, pretty clean at 2 ohms. Also it's very underrated at 2 ohms.

    Strength:

lots of power, power, power. and low distortion.

    Weakness:

no markings (very annoying)on the built in crossover, requires 1 gauge wire, you'll go deaf, and your car will fall apart so reinforce it. Reinforce your electrical system as well, it needs power like I need water. works best with two or four subs, not one or three.

I'm using this amp to power 2 mtx 12" 8000 sub and it kicks ass. This amp has power to spare and at 2 ohms it'll trick car alarms everywhere.

Lots of power EBC (great to avoid fines) Tons of BASS 1/0 ga inputs Looks good causes envy

    Weakness:

People want to steal it. Requires 1/0 ga. destroys hearing.

When I got my first job I wanted a system right away. I was planning on Jensen and mtx 4000 for a quickie system. But when I went to order it I had an option to pay later so I decided to get the 8000's. I got a box for them and I needed an amp. I first borrowed my friends Jensen 400 watt amp. It sounded like ass. My friend had a 2300x and had good bass. So I went to my dealer and asked what was needed for my subs he suggested the 1000d. Back to work and slave to make enough money to buy it. I get there and he tells me that they are improving it with a new model called 81000d. I decided to get that amp. I waited 3 months. I really didn't care because I didn't have my license yet. The day came I got my license and on the same day I got my amp. I hooked it all up with a 1.5 cap and 4 ga. (bad idea). This amp absolutely rocked my subs. It made crazy ass bass. I totally blew aaway my friends 2300x with 7000's combo. He was dumbfounded because he was talking crap to me about how his was going to be louder cuz his stuff was broke in. I blew all other systems away in town. At least thats what people told me. I rattled stores windows going by on Main Street. But the 2nd day I had it I blew everything. Too small of wire. I get everything back hook up the 1/0 ga. Even louder than before. Just crazy. Blew my subs this time not because of excess power but because of crappy SONY XPLOD cd player. Haven't got any new subs yet but probably wont because my amp got stolen. But I am replacing the crappy SONY with a Eclipse 5443. required accesories for 81000d: 1/0 ga. wire (seriously) High quality HU w/4 volt pre-outs Quality RCA's Large speaker wire 10 ga. good at least a 1.5 farad capacitor Buy this amp if you are serious about BASS Never had the chance to get my subs tested for SPL. Wish I had.

    Power. Inexpensive. Looks Decent.

    Weakness:

Distortion. When it is bridged with the gain up, doesn''t sound as clear as some other amps. Also, you really need to run 1/0 guage wire. It is pretty heavy.

It has a LOT of power. Can push anything. I have one Aluminum Eclipse and it makes my sub sing. I love it. I also hooked up my friends'' 2 HX2. They sounded decent. Not as good as the Eclipse though.I recommend this amp if you are looking for some inexpensive power.

    Similar Products Used:

Orion, Boss, Earthquake, Rockford. Boss sucks. The others are decent. Orions draw too much power though.

MTX customer service good!!small foot print, strappable, nice looking, runs really cool, never ending power, b-sheet is 1380 watts at 12 volts so doing the math i beleive im getting between 16-1700 watts, alot of depth with xover, nice bass boost. able to deactivate clipping feature. compresson circuity excellent, no turn on thump. although not recommended for 1 ohm use, I have burped it at 1ohm and ran it at .5 ohm for a week and it never shut down.

    Weakness:

power supplies hiss alittle bit. no markings for knobs. only recomend 12''s but will push 15''s. My L-7''s simply want more power and i will be competing.

I replaced my 1000d with this monster and it so much more stable then the 1000d. I was first hesitent because of problems i had with the 1000d. I am currently pushing L-7 15''s with it and it knocks them around really well. Im doing 147''s in a sealed 4.0 cu ft box in a Saturn which is pretty good for a sealed application.

    Weakness:

When pushing many subs at once it does have a tendency to distort slightly.

I recently got my vehicle broken into and had all of my equipment stolen except for my 4 JL 12w6''s. I decided that since I had A couple grand from insurance i would invest it in a better system. I purchased a kenwood z828 deck, excelon mid amp, Boston pro front and rear speakers and the MTX 8100D to power my 4 JL Audio 12W3''s. I have bee very impressed. I have a 1 farad cap and am using only 2 gauge wire. (although specs recommend ONLY 0/1 gauge) In the past 3 mnths that I have been using it, the unit has never gotten much more than luke warm at very high spl levels. I have been nothing but amazed at how it pushes my 4 subs. I realize that no amplifier is meant to power 4 subs at high spls all at once, and the 81000d is no exception. I have noticed a little distortion with certain types of music at high spls. (Although this also may be a bi-product of the w3''s longer throw and cone travel) I have tried this same amp on 2 12w3''s and it really hits hard. I would suggest powering no more than 3 subs at once, preferrably 2. I myself have another on order and will be going to a 2 X 2 configuration. All in all i give this amp an A+ It''s really a solid and great piece of equipment. I used to have a fosgate bd1000 and I recommend this amp hands down!

I have this amp for 3 to 4 months and was very pleased with it pushing Infinity Perfects then L-7 12''s. Do not recommend for 15''s has never ending power!! I loved this amp until it blew
