very very powerful and doesnt take up much room. This is one of the best amps i have ever owned

It gets very hot, but i think its because I am using 4 gauge power wire. MTX recommends 1/0 gauge. I have not noticed any other weaknesses.

I bought the MTX 1000D and 2 soundstream SPL 10'S. I am running the amp at a 4 ohm load. I am very pleased with it so far. I am pushing about 850 watts because it is a 4 ohm load. The only problem i have is the amp get very hot. I think its because I am using 4 gauge power wire. I plan to upgrade to 1/0 ASAP. Overall the MTX 1000D is a very nice amp. It is very very powerful for its size and its price. I plan to upgrade the subs so I can get the most out of this amp and run it at 2 ohms. I highly recommend this amp if you dont have a whole lot of money to spend on a system but you still want one that will shake your car apart. You can pick one up brand new on ebay for $350 - $400. That is a super deal for a 1,500 + watt amp.

Most power Ive ever seen come from a 15"x9" black box. Accurate, LOUD bass, doesn't murder my alternator, NEVER heats up.

Only complaint I could possibly have is that an EBC should be included with this purchase. Not really a weakness, but if the amp is getting a good signal, greater than 4 volts or so, it will play twice as loud as it will if you are giving it less. Needs a good signal, get a good HU, and this baby will rock your world, and everyone else's within 10 miles.

I am running this amp to a pair of Infinity Perfect 12's in a little 2001 Grand Am. Lets just say that this amp pushes my subs so hard, I get a slight fear of my trunk getting blown off my car. Playing Ice Cube's "Until we Rich" at a high volume hit so hard that my cd player skipped. I can play my subs so loud that my brains seem to rattle until they scramble, I feel like I am high when I step out of the car, its incredible. The bass is so tight, I can actually play my subs with any kind of music. This amp is simply awesome, no better word than perfect to describe it, I am a bassaholic, and I fear turning the bass up as high as it will go, for fear of blowing my ear drums and blowing my subs. I plan on getting a pair of the 15" Kicker Solo-Baric L7's or possibly a pair of the 12w7's when JL releases them. This concludes my review, let me say that if you need a small power plant to power your subs, look no further than the MTX 1000D.

Loud, even without a battery or cap. not hard on electrical system can operate well with other power assesories ac,heat lights, etc. without dimming.

For a long time I wanted a loud stereo to compete with and a friend at discount auto told me that he could put something in ny truck that would make me get out of it. So he put 3 jl 15w3 on this mtx 1000d. running off of my factory mach system that comes in the limited ford explorer. It doesn't have a battery or anything. Everything is stock. execpt for this. A friend of mine has an 94 impalla ss with four cadence solo bass dvc with five punch 800a2.(one on each and one for the highs) Every one told me that he was the loudest int he neighborhood I heard it and he was. So I then told him I was going to get my truck done and beat him for a fraction of the price he paid. he paid about $8000 for everything and I paid $2000. Yesterday I saw him at the car wash and everyone was there. He played his then he sat in my truck I turned it up about half way and played mines he fumbled to get out of the truck because it was so loud that everything you looked at was shaking even your body it was hard to breathe in it. and I don't have a wall either. Just a factory deck. I am told that I am hitting between 148-153db's I will run it on the meter monday and post it.

In summary, this amp, the MTX 1000D is a great buy. You will not be dissappointed. I have installed a 1 farad Cap in my Z28 which also includes a 5 channel MTX amp to run my door and rear speakers as well as running 1 12" JL Audio Sub. My MTX 1000D amp running 2 12" Rockford Fosgate HX2 Subs. WOW! No one wants me to crank up the volume past 15 on my Clarion CD Player. They just freek out with the Bass I got. Get this amp, you will LOVE it!

There is a weakness?

Well I work at Circuit City and I have to say this is an AWSOME amp. I have this in a heavly modded Pontiac GTP and it works great. I am running one amp to power 2 2ohm Boston pro 10'' and i can not tell you how much of a differance it makes over the old amp i had. For the record I had a MTX 3002 before. All i can say is go buy one. NOW!

This amp is unreal,it never heats up,i run two of these,and only one optima,and my headlights hardly dim.great amplifier,sounds clean also.

I run the digital desgins 9000series with each one run by the MTX 1000D,the sound is unreal,doesn't put a constant drain on my power.awesome 1/0 guage power/ground input,i highly recommend this amp over many others.

Tested this amp out for 2 hours against 2 of the most popular amps in car stereo. This amp was very suprising...

it didn't have any weaknesses at all!!! this amp held up strong the whole 2 hours for our test

We put these amps through a powerful torture test running at 2 ohms each with 14.4 volts going to all of them in 3 seperate 1998 Acura Integra's... The test was 2 hours long to see what amp would come out on top... I was expecting the kicker zr1000 myself... We played each one with 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch Power Dvc subwoofers. Everything was the exact same in every car, same batteries, alternators, subs, box's, etc... we played them all at 140db's on the same song which was a 75 minute long 40HZ bass tester. After 45 minutes, the rockford fosgate bd1000a1 sarted to heat up and achieved distortion loosing precious dbs... after 50 minutes the bd1000a1 dropped dead, it cut out and it put Rockford in the last place spot. It was down to the mtx 1000d and the kicker zr1000... The bass tester ended with both amps holding up strong... We then put in "bass mekanik v5.0" on each car at an average of 145dbs. After 1 hour and 28 minutes, the Kicker zr1000 amp started to heat up rapidly, it didn't die out though... Both the mtx 1000d and kicker zr1000 amplifiers held up for the full 2 hours. If we had of gone longer the 1000d by mtx would have probably come out on top because there were no signs of heating or breakdown. This amp will run any pair of subs you want it to with ease, max db that we recieved out of this amp was running 3 earthquake Magma 3 ohm subs in a 1 ohm load and got a max spl of 153.5 dbs before it started to heat up. If you are looking for an amp that sounds like a nuclear explosion, and built like a rock, this is one of the best amps for it. I am suprised that there are no other reviews on here because i know there are alot of these amps out there, we sold 4 of them right after the test. Please people, submit your reviews and tell others how great this amp truly is.

None really - no installed fuse

I have used this amp on two Infinity Kappa Perfects 12.1's for the last month flawlessly. I cannot say enough good about this product. It is by far the best I have seen of the moderately priced big mono amps. HUGE Amounts of power in a relatively small package. HUGE wire terminals: 1/0 guage power and ground. Cool Looks. Great Sound! Sure kicks Rockford's butt all day long.

I am serious about sound, just ask my wife. Previous to installing the 1000D I have used all of the brands of amps listed above. Then I tried the MTX 1000D and nothing will grace my trunk other than it. I love this amp! I am pushing 2 8000 series subs with it and like to really pound them. The amp has never gotten more than luke warm. It is sure tough. I will recommend this amp to anyone who asks.
