Strength:

Great features very cool display. 24 bit dac's. Way ahead of the competion.

Weakness:

Fussy!! Horrible playback if your cd has as much as a finger print on it. Skips like a $80 k mart cd player and gets worse with time. My sound q car witch on a good day maybe generate 135 db. In a new car properly mounted SKIPS,SKIPS,SKIPS. This makes me INSANE! I have had $ 240 Jvc's in my db car that produced 150 db. And those units did not even think about skipping. Buyer beware. And remember Once you buy the Clarion drx 9675z You will probably never find a buyer for you $500 preamp headunit that may sound bettter that a 200 pioneer but can't play half as good as one. SKIP, SKIP, Repeat mode is stuck on and no button turns it off JUNK!

Great head unit. Best sounding unit I have ever owned. Since I bought this head unit I don't even miss my symetry. You can really dial any kind of music fast. It is easy to navigate the screens. Unless the unit is having a bad day.Talk to anyone who has one of these for a long peroid of time. This is also the most tempermental unit ever. I have owned just about every head unit out there. This has to be the best sounding probably It has the most features. You don't have to buy any processors to get dsp. But you better buy a spare head unit so when the clarion drx 9675z is in for warranty you still have tunes in your ride. I bought this unit in april It made it about a month before problems started. Stupid stuff every button on the face activates or deactivates Repeat mode. I mean every button. That sucks when you spend $500 plus. Then it gets better, the cd player gets more fussy all the time. I love to go on and tell you the wonderfull features. But if you are reading this you want to know what this thing will do after you drop some cash on one. It is now october this was properly mounted and never smoked near. You have to be a real die hard audiophile to put up with this thing. If I did not like it so much when it works and did not have nearly $600 dollars invested I would toss the thing back in its box.

This thing is in a class by itself. The only $545.00 head unit that has no internal amp and won't play half of the cd's in your collection. And some days it may play a cd and then decide error 3 the next time you play it. Then only to play the same cd a minute later. If you like to blow money and swear at your head unit. And have to be without and resort back to OEM while the wonderfull Clarion drx 9675z is in for repairs. Well the this is the product for you.

24-bit D/A, TV/CD changer/etc. controls built in, fiber optic output. Gives you a lot for the $$. 64 colors with good resolution display! Adjustable wallpapers, contrast control, you can bypass/edit/adjust DSP settings, EQ settings, and choose EQ presets. Also has nice spect. anylzers. Clarion reliability and excellent sound; tuner is very good too. Menu-type user interface. Looks as good as it sounds! Not your usual Wal-Mart kind of unit! Clean 4v, 33-Ohm preamp output. NICE! :)

Weakness:

Large (and EXPENSIVE) LCD control panel, remote is larger and bulky (why?), Clarion customer service is harder to deal with than your mother-in-law.

Very nice unit: Audio is very clean, with a well designed chassis, wiring, and overall design. Looks good at night! LOTS of features, including built-in DSP functions. Still beats most models on the market for features vs. sound! Sound is close to DRX9255 quality, almost. Much nicer than all the JVCs I've heard or installed, and almost all others...

Strength:

Nice 64 color display face

Weakness:

Useless "Standard" and "Professional" modes, slow volume and track selection reaction

I purchased this unit a while ago at my local audio shop for a good deal. At first I was pleased with the deck until I heard my first Alpine head unit(7874). In my opinion I would not recommend this head unit. One of the reasons why is the main feature of this deck is the "Standard and "Professional" modes. The Standard mode is horrible. There are 5 different parametric bands that you can select (Hall, Livehouse, etc.). Three out of the five are hard to differentiate. The only two that have an audible difference are the Hall and Studio modes which don't do much except make it sound terrible. Professional mode is very hard to understand and quite frankly sounds worst than Standard mode. Another flaw about the unit is the volume and track search buttons-they are really slow to react. I found myself always waiting for the deck to catch up with the depression of the buttons. Bottom line I would not recommend this unit to anyone. If you are looking for a Clarion single DIN unit-look somewhere else.

Strength:

Everything. Period.

Weakness:

Doesn''t have the output voltage that the old 9255 had, but that is what Line Drivers are for!

I purchased the DRX-9675z as soon as it came out. I expected a world beater, and I was not disappointed. Compared to my old DRX 9255 (considered the best sounding CD player of all time), the 9675 holds it''s own. Outstanding features, including two different modes (Pro and Standard), DSP, Seating position, 64 color screen, and selectable 7 band EQ(Standard Mode), 24-Bit D/A & 20-Bit A/D convertors really make this baby sing. Built in TV tuner control allows for further upgrading. This unit should cost over a thousand, but is a steal at $675, and down right sick at the price it is selling on E-Bay right now.

Flexibility, sound control, LCD screen, comfortable interface... SQ SQ SQ !

Weakness:

Giant useless remote & no steering remote. needs more than 2 positions for the angle adjusment of the face.

Sick.... the sound quality is completely transparent and dead quiet. It has not skipped even once on the deadliest bumps but is definately weak when it comes to scratched CDS...a worthwhile tradeoff. The screen is really cool and impresses people but like any other audio component you see daily for a long time, the appearance becomes familiar and it doesn''t matter...but the audio quality still impresses you for a long time to come. And the 3 band parametric basically saved my system. Without it, I would''ve had to buy a seperate EQ. And no system, no matter how amazing should ever be without some tweeking ability...

Strength:

Sound tailoring options, 24bit DAC, 33ohm impedence!, and graphics. Overall sound quality is outstanding.

Weakness:

Flimsy faceplate attachment. This head unit does stick out really far so it won''t look good in all cars. The graphics could be a bit more defined. The price is steep so hunt around for a deal.

After using the Alpine CDA 7840 for two years i must say that this unit is competitive to but not significantly better than the Alpine. I found that the noise level is slightly less, yet the 4v outputs are not a strong as Alpine''s. I really like all the ways to adjust my sound and the extra set will be nice for a Class D sub amp. The display is bright and the unit has no problem with scratched discs or bumps in the road (to my suprise). Even though this unit is a 24bit DAC is have yet to hear the difference from the 3bit Alpine 7840. That unit apparently could resolve 24bit/96khz. Overall no one will be disappointed with this unit''s performance

24 bit d/a converter. lots of control through headunit. Very clear and detailed from Black sabbath to Classical (attack, breath sounds and page turns etc)

Weakness:

Face plate could attach a bit more stabily.

Exellent, for the price I could not be happier. Pro mode has a ton of flexbility. with a front and rear separate 31 band EQ that you can set any 3 of the bands with Q control from 1-20. If you are running bi-amped front components you could use the rear outputs for the second amp and effectively have a very flexable 1/3 octave 6band EQ(I know sounds a little strange). Also spatial restoration control and preset EQ curves that can be used on top of the previously mentioned controls. Lots of flexability. In standard mode you get a 7 band EQ with no Q control, preset EQ curves. preset reverb(spatial effects) and seating position selector. Either way you have separate sub level control. My wife loves the display, I dont care about the cosmetic stuff. It has not had any problems with bumps in the road yet, but is sensitive to scratched and dirty cd''s. The sound quality is worth the hassle of a little more caring for my cd''s. Vulume control goes to 33, My unit starts to clip at 32(used oscilloscope), otherwis clean all the was with other equipment levels matches. I am running through two audiocontrol eqt(30 band) units(sounded great even without), A JL audio 300/4 amp with the first channels driving Boston pro 6.5''s and the other channels amping a passivly derived center channel signal to an infinity reference 4*6 plat component(to be changed to a single BA 6.5 pro in the future). Also plan to upgrade to Dolby pro logic II for all channel processing when this becomes reasonably priced. Just an infinity basslink in trunk right now X-over at 60Hz. Very happy with the headunit, amp, components and EQT''s.

Strength:

Sound clarity, cool graphics, many ways to tweak sound.

Weakness:

Skips on any CD imperfections.

The sound quality is amazing. I hear stuff with this deck that I dont hear on my home system, which I spent a lot more money on. The screen is cool as hell and I like the silver look to the unit in general. Also, once you figure out how to tweak the sound and stuff, it is a great toy to play with. The one thing it sucks at is reading CD's. It will complain and skip at any scratches it finds. Also fingerprints and any other minor details. Make sure you clean each cd before putting it in the player. Look for this product on the internet as the prices are significantly lower. www.competitionsound.com has the cheapest price for an authorized store I believe. Enjoy.

Strength:

Sound quality is EXTREMELY good, soon as I started using it I could tell the difference, the DA converter makes you hear things you've never heard before on your CD's, it's like giving your existing CD's a new lease on life. The display is the coolest I've ever seen next to the touch screens and mobile monitors, has tons of features and lots of nice backgrounds and screensavers!

Weakness:

The only thing I'd change would be the ability to read CD-Text without needing a CD changer to do so.

This is a excellent CD player, it's very expensive especially at list price. I'd say it's definitely worth what I paid, you can create a KILLER audio setup with this as your source unit, I'd compete with it without any questions. Great product from a great company, Clarion products are great, I have this hooked up to a APX 400.2 connect to dual concentric 6x9's with external crossovers and it sounds like I have a set of 10" subs in my trunk.
