My name is shawn and I just bought a 5440 eclipse radio and I have to say it is sharp in all it qualties, I like the bold face , and also the volume knobe , and I dident have to pay a ton for it ither.

Fantastic sound quality, build quality. Lack of flashiness.

Difficult to find all of the features. You need the manual.

When I first purchased this on eBay, I got really worried when I saw the avg review rating it received on this site. However, after reading the stupidity of all those bad reviews I was comforted. If you have an Eclipse, know where your key CD is!!! You're supposed to be rating the quality of the cd player, not how much of a pain it is to unlock it if you did something stupid. I was sold on Eclipse head units after I bought a used one 7 or 8 years ago. I had owned many Alpines and thought I was sold on them, but the Eclipse just sounded better. It also has higher voltage, lower impedence pre-outs that really help out your amplification setup. I'd recommend this unit to anyone, provided you're capable of keeping your key cd in a safe place.

esn security device is the dumbest thing ever invented for a head unit, its a pain in the ass, if your cd gets scrached your cd player wont work anymore and u have to pay to get it fixed and take it out of your car mail it to them to fix it and get it back and put it back in your car, over priced and under powered..i would highly recomend u dont buy this or any other eclipse cd player...basicly its just a p.o.s

I think the key cd is a good idea in a way, but I also think its not the best way to do the security thing.

I bought my car from a girl about 3 months ago...My question is How do you change the time?? I don't have the manuel. So any help would be appreciated. Also, Thank God she thought about leaving the Key CD in the car. B/c last week my battery died and I had a new one put in and my CD player wouldn't work so I finally remembered she left that CD in my car and it was the key CD so my player works again.

Simple face for such an incredible system. After all of my years in law enforcement, fancy faces have been stolen more frequently. this system projects great sound and very functional.

Just me screwing around with the battery cables.

I recently removed the cables from my battery to clean the posts. When I got back into my vehicle, I discovered that the stereo system now does not function. It reveals an 800# to call on the display, but I discovered that the number is no longer in service. I discovered your site while surfin' in an attempt to find 'the code' or 'procedure' to reactivate this stereo. Is there any light you can shed on this dilemma? I would appreciate any assistance in this matter. Great site with incredible information you have here. M

How do you change the time on the clock???

puts out some nice watts easy to read. The volume controll is one of the nicest ones I've seen yet. Sucks the cd's in with ease no pushing tuggin none of that.

The key cd can be a pain but other then that its nice and easy to deal with

Overall I think its a pretty hot unit. Key cd is nice but if you loose it then what. Right know I'm tryin to remember what combo of button I have to hit to change the key cd. I read the other reviews I havent had no static problems...yet?! I personally like how the face is low profile in a way not drawing to much attension to it which is nice seeing how the face is not removible. To people planning to buy this unit..KEEP THE MANUAL..beleave me you'll need it for future ref. and I paid 250 with tax and sh.it so its almost worth it

the coded cd, not detachable face

its a nice head unit, it scips with old cds when i hit big bumps but not as bad as my old jvc head unit. the coded cd thing is a major pain in the ass, i wish it was a detacable face instead. its ok nothin special, i dont know how much the cost but i wouldnt pay mor than $110 for it.
