Strength:

the no skp feature is awsome, at night the display changes between colors. the controls and adjustments are so simple, volume adjustment goes up in perfect incriments

Weakness:

that display is hard to see in the day time, and the cd''s do get a litte hot but it is yet to lose peformance, shut off, or start that clipping crap

This cd players is great i havent had a single problem w/ it came wit great warranties and features and everybody that is having problems with it playing CDR''s, this thing has played cracked cd''s and cd''s that no one else''s will play! you need to look into your hook-up for that problem, i live in a rual region with alot of rough roads, and it is yet to skip, i have a civic and it just fit right in with a great snug fit, it''s just so universal

Strength:

Stunning clarity Simple controls Great warranty

Weakness:

Price Poorly designed card remote (aren''t they all).

Well, this is certainly the nicest HU I''ve ever used. This was the first thing I replaced in my stock system, and even without using the 5V preouts, the clarity improvements were notable. After getting my amps and new comps in, the difference is stunning. What Eclipse lacks in features, it makes up for in SQ. I chose carefully, listening a/b/c with similary priced Alpine and Clarion units. No contest. To my ears the Eclipse is pristine. It REALLY shines on in acoustic/vocal/instrument intensive genres and is as good or better than the others in rock and hiphop.

Strength:

Great sound, lots of power for a head unit, low distortion. Looks great, good quality construction. Doesen't include lots of useless features.

Weakness:

HOT, this unit gets extremely hot especially in the summer when the sun is beating down on my dash. I have experienced distortion due to (what I believe) was the heat, but only on two very hot sunny days in 2 years, but it's something to look out for.

I would recommend this unit to any novice car stereo entusiast like myself. With the included CD changer controls, 3 rca outs, and modest price, it really delivers for 300 bucks and has a lot of scalability with your system. For instance you could run it with no changer and stock speakers and add more components(subs, changers) later on in a piecemeal fashion without having to replace the head unit. Also ESN Works!!!! After having my unit for 6 months, my vehicle was brutally violated. Fujitsu made good on their promise and I had a brand new unit within 5 days. I couldn't believe that it worked, but it did!

Strength:

Sounds good when it does not clip, skip or scratch.

Weakness:

clipping, clipping, clipping. scratching noise???? replaced twice at the store, but still clips and scratches. eclipse defect?

Sounds great for about a half hour. Then that clipping starts. Then the scratching and the CDs get really really hot. Had the car manufacturer check electrical just in case, but it is the deck. Too bad for that clipping. I never heard of clipping before this.

Strength:

Good layout and control with NOB feature. DNS security feature is much simpler than a detachable face unit. Good warranty. 3 RCA outs @ 5v each.

Weakness:

Skipping, skipping, and more skipping. The unit has been replaced 4 times since I purchased it for skipping. The last time a unit was sent from the factory with an improved chip - and it still skipped (just in a different pattern!). Display is hard to see in the daylight.

The price was approximately $330. I liked the features and the layout of the unit, also the sound was great when it was playing normal, but for all the headaches Ive had with this unit skipping, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The bottom line is: I would not recommend it to anyone unless you like to gamble on getting a non-skipper.

Strength:

great sound, easy to use, great sound!

Weakness:

nothing

this is a great cd player! the sony doesn't even compare to the sound quality of this head unit. You can adjust the volume to about every decibal you could ever want, and the amp outs are great. I was going to buy a Pioneer 8440, but I am SOOOO glad that I chose to get the Eclipse. It is a great unit, but make sure you buy it and get it installed by a certified dealer, or the waranties are void. Key CD is a great feature.

Strength:

Crystal Clear Sound and of course love the turn style volumn knob

Weakness:

A little too sensitve to dirty CD's, and eject button is way too close to the CD track controls, in a lowerd bouncy car I ended up ejecting the CD as much as I changed the track.

Great Deck. Made my homemade system hit 132 db's. Highly recommend!
Features are just right, Eclipse didn't was your money on dumb flashy features that only take away from the sound quality.

Strength:

Sound Quality, Subwoofer Controls (Phase control especially nice), 3 preamp outs. Warranty / ESN program.

Weakness:

The power button is too close to the CD tracking controls.

I can definitely recommend this head unit. The controls are so easy to operate while keeping an eye on the road - I doubt that other manufacturers can claim that as an advantage with all of their superfluous dials and buttons.
I can also tweak the subwoofer levels without having to leave the driver's seat. ( SAS Bazooka would have you purchase a seperate volume control and run more wires through the interior - never again with this radio )
The Warranty / ESN program makes me feel quite safe about installing a non-detachable faced head unit in my car.
I have had no problems whatsoever with this unit, and its been just about a year since its installation.
Bottom Line:
If you enjoy listening to music, audition Eclipse.

Denon DCT 670 - never really skipped, but the sound quality is not even close to the Eclipse unit's.
