Strength:

Excellent power, really brings the stock speakers to life ('00 Civic)
Like the cd titling option.
Good sound for the price (232 CDN)

Weakness:

The grey surround takes some getting used to. At first it looks really out of place with everything else being black.
Only one custom setting.
Had a problem with one of the buttons. The CD forward (next) just quit working after I only had the deck about 3 weeks. Apparantely this is a Pioneer quirk (judging by the way they just exchanged face plates with me at the store).

This deck has excellent bang for the buck. Lots of power, it was like adding an amp to all the speakers, what a difference!

Strength:

easy use and easy installation
plenty of options for adjusting the sound

Weakness:

detachable face feels flimsy
i've overheated it a few times to the point where it won't play cd's. not a common problem though, only every once in a while
overly bright display, drowns out the dash lights at night
overall very good though

i bought this deck for my 91 civic approx. 4 months ago. at first i was just looking for a basic cd deck with detachable face and relatively stock appearance. i also wanted something that would be a fairly easy install and that was one of the pros i'd heard about the pioneer from others. i ended up buying a demo model for $220 canadian (around 140 american) and a wiring harness for my car which was $15.
the install was easy, i soldered the two harnesses together for a clean install. after that the install was EASY. impressions i'd say its easy to use which is nice. the preset EQ settings offer lots of possibilities and its easily tunable. i initially intended it as just a basic deck but now i've gotten more into car audio as a result. its easy to upgrade and works well even with my new system.

Strength:

Flexibility for adjustments
That 45w x4 channel which is really like 22w x4 actually powers my speakers pretty cleanly. I can put it up pretty loud

Weakness:

the green light aren't that great.
the track buttons are small and cluttered
the cd text only fits like 7 letters even though manual says it can scroll maybe im just an idiot but it wont work for me.

Its a great deck and does everything i need it and then some. I like the fact that i can adjust the highs lows and mids, then i can add the SLA function to boost the power plus turn on the loudness to either high or low. Really flexible when it come to adjustments even the front image enhancement feature has different freq settings. Rarely skips and does the job well.
