Strength:

Everything...great EQ control, sub control, everything. Luv the graphix, altho would have loved more options

Weakness:

Distorts burnt CDs sometimes. Not all, but every so often. Display stops working after a while. Never been dropped, so I was suprised about that. Also, then button the the rado are rubber, so after a while they fade.

I got this product old, and out of a box, but man, what a deck!! The features are all awesome. Nothing on this CD player is useless. Great Sounding, sturdy! Of course it is a Pioneer, so that's a dead giveaway about how great the product is. Moving away from this tho, and getting the DEHP7700MP! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Nothing came close to this product, but i know that the DEHP7700MP will be just as good.

Strength:

3 sets of pre-outs with the ability to turn off the sub channel. 45 watts kicks a set of 4 tweeters just right. (amps for the rest) control over every aspect of the sound quality. The standard remote is one rugged mother! I play drums on my steering wheel with it all the time, and have literally beat the living hell out of it... and it's never let me down once.

Weakness:

replacement of the faceplate is a big weakness. it is bad ass, dont get me wrong...but it's fragile. the rubber buttons have really worn out on me, and the EL display has completely wigged out. cant read it anymore. but thats AFTER i dropped it in the snow, and on concrete quite a few times. The replacement cost from pioneer of $322.00 OUCH!!!! i am lucky i have every function memorized.. i can do it with my eyes closed. The detachable face has fallen off in the extreme cold weather quite a few times.. it could be just worn out. i would suggest using the remote for everything possible and not removing the faceplate unless absolutely necessary. if it gets stolen, thats why we have insurance, but preserve the faceplate at all costs.

I have put this unit through hell and high water, it has played constantly. probably more than 10,000 hours. I got it open box when the model was still fairly new to the market. I am extremely pleased with it! I have owned many a head unit in my time as an audio freak, and this deck is great! It has so many features and fine tuning abilities to make your music sound the best. clarity is my biggest need in a car stereo, and this deck has it every step of the way. Theres only a couple weaknesses that i have seen with this unit in the 5 years that i've owned it. I will never sell it. It's bound to become a family heirloom.

Well, first, let me start off stating that I just bought this off ebay.com and I havent gotten it yet. I read the reviews and it sounds like a really nice deck. I have a Pioneer DEH-P7200 in one of my Mustangs and the DEH-P8000R will be going in my other Mustang. I love my P7200 and I know a little bit about stereos, as well as Pioneer. So, I purchased this deck with the thought in mind that the 8000R would be a step up from a P7200. My only real question I guess is: WHAT ORGANIC IMAGES ARE ON THIS DECK??? On my P7200, I have dolphins and this thing that goes in circles. So, if any of you have any info. PLEASE EMAIL ME! mustang_tyler@hotmail.com ~TYLER~

Clear sound, Features, OEL Display is Easy to read at daytime. CD-text.

Weakness:

No "real" EQ with adjustable delays, No MP3. Was very expensive (In Finland these things are).

My third Pioneer head unit so far. I love the sound and the easy EQ is very useful on this one.

Also it looks great in my Mustang I dont know what anyone is talking about the CD player not being "FLUSH" it seems to be perfect to me

Weakness:

NONE

I recommend EVERYONE atleast giving this CD player a shot... You wont regret it

Strength:

More features than a person konws what to do with.

Weakness:

Screen saver gets boring after a while.

Nice, Impresses many people with the screen saver, and if that doesn't impress them, just start showing all the features. Has crossovers for the pre-amp outputs, and internal wattage outputs. Sub gains, and everything else you can think of. Campares nicely to other decks of the same price. Bought mine for the features, looks, power, and the fact that it plays D-R's and CD-RW's. Not many decks will play CD-RW's. I had a Sony with 4v preouts before, and this Pioneer with 4v preouts way out does the sony.
I like it and say it was worth the money.

Strength:

Great organic display, 45X4 KICKS IT, two preouts, all I need. Text encoding is very handy.

Weakness:

Can't play mp3's, needs more screensavers, or at least more colors, than blue. I hate blue. Oh well.

I've had this radio for over 6 months now, and it never really seems to get boring. Just because there are only two screen savers does not mean i'll give it a rating any lower than a 5. You should check out the new 2001 models they have birds and race cars! I might sell mine to get one of those things :-).

I really like the power though any speakers i hook up will sound excellent and the easy eq makes your sound system a lot easier to customize for yourself.

Just an update: I got a reply from my man Greg Bogdan (gbogdan@columbus.rr.com) who wrote me the following:

I have the same pioneer unit you do. It was fine for about a year now it is doing the same thing yours is. Exactly the same way too. Press on the display and it goes away. I have screen burn in too. The only good thing about it is that when I bought it at Besy Buy I got a 3 year service contract. I just took it in to them on 2-10-01, and they said they should know if they will fix it or replace it in about 2 weeks. I found out after I bought it that the orgainc displays usually only last about 5000 hours. Nice to know that now huh? I will let you know if they can fix mine. It's nice to know that someone else is having the same problem.

See ya,

Greg

Weakness:

He's got exactly the same problems I do. Fortunately for him he signed a three year extended warranty on the unit when he purchased his (good move Greg!!!).

So it's a great unit, but with OLED display's just don't forget that it's new tech and that it might go KAPUT. It's a wise move to get an extended warranty, then your propably safe.

Take this information and have fun shopping around, because it still IS a GREAT unit to have and to enjoy.

This info made me change the rating a bit though because the problems aren''t just related to my unit.
