Strength:

Amazing sound features, and ease of use.

Weakness:

NONE

Plain and simple...Pioneer make the best players out there.Loaded with so many features, not to mention the unmatched sound quality this is the best player out there. I reccomend this to anyone over the Pioneer 9300 because alot cheaper and the only big difference between the two is the money and the screensavers.

Great Sound Decent Wattage (45/4) Tons of Features (too many maybe..nahhh) Cool Display (for a demo check out http://www.millionbuy.com/lib/millionbuy/organic.htm ) the ladies love it ;)

Weakness:

heat can cause the head unit to skip on low quality (blue or green) CD-Rs, you can fix this by buying the silver or gold backed ones or playing commercial cds display doesnt go as bright as I would like (looks washed out in direct sunlight) hmm.that''s about it

GREAT HU. I upgraded from the factory (horrible) stereo to this beauty. I''m in the process of building a great system for my car, and this is the first step. I got the unit for nearly 250 bucks under retail, so it''s an excellent deal too.

Strength:

Great features for the money which is typical for most Pioneer products. The various display features make it a unique among other after market head units.

Weakness:

You really need to read your manual to use this deck. I hate to read manuals. The negative display mode or "reverse demo" mode of the deck's graphics was really annoying to me until I figured out how to turn it off. If you are not planning to use the pre-outs, crossovers and the like, it may not be the deck for you.

So far, this is by far the best deck I have owned by Pioneer. The tuner's quality is great. I really like having the ability to adjust the sub's output level from the deck as opposed to a seperate passive EQ unit or something similar. Being able to play with other factors like Q and so on is fun too. The remote is an added novelty. Multiple displays are great for driving and show alike; it really makes the deck "more fun" to own when you have passengers riding along with you. Their reactions are great...

The overall sound quaility is very "clean" when coupled to either the internal amp or external sources.

I am very pleased with my investment.

A long history of owning Pioneer products. This deck does the work of an EQ, and a crossover network for multi-amp applications. I have never owned a head unit like it.

Strength:

This headunit is great! I love all the functions it has, and how you can adjust the speakers to your liking. If you have any subs, the sub-output is great. I'm a tech freak, so I love all the buttons you can push to adjust the settings, and I love the cover. This headunit is great if you get bored easily while driving. I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind spending $$$ on an awesome headunit.

Weakness:

The only weakness is that the display is hard to see during the day, like all the other headunits.

I got a great deal on this headunit (although Pioneer is coming out with the new lineup in a week or two), and the installation. I have two 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC running through a RF 500 watt amp, and ten speakers (stock, but I'm going to get new ones, maybe infiniti) running through a Crossfire 600 watt amp. Right now, I would rate the sound to be a 8/10. The headunit really spices up an otherwise boring driving environment.

Strength:

Looks cool. Love the RDS. I don't really go for all the flashing lights, but I do like the motorized face (because of the angle it's mounted on - gravity wouldn't work). 4.8V pre-out is perfect for my equalizer, which turns it into a 16V balanced signal.

Weakness:

I'd like rotary volume control. I only use the front pre-outs since I have an equalizer. Lots of small buttons are kind of hard to use while driving.

Overall I like it, but I don't really need all the toys, just most of them. I'd do away with the internal equalizer and the 6 channel pre-outs, add a volume control knob, and have a feature-laden, stereo head unit.

The new 9300 has rotary volume control, by the way.

I get to use all of these, but the 9200 is the one I decided to keep for my system.

Just submitting a follow-up review

It has more features than James Bond needs. The screen savers are not necessary and really how hard is it to use a deck that doesn't have a motorized faceplate. But hey that is what I like. The cool thing is that I still have several jealous friends.

Weakness:

Need a long drive to work to enjoy it more. None really!

I am still very pleased with this unit. I recently purchased a couple of amps and subs and I am currently working on installing these in my full size Blazer. The CD player has only skipped once. It was a hard bump over some unfamiliar railroad tracks. It was hard enough bounce that it knock my tires out of balance.

If I ever needed another high-end unit I would buy this unit again. Fact is I am thinking about getting one for my wife's car. Hope this helps.

Strength:

This unit amazed me from day one. The moment I plugged it in, I had about 250% better sound quality and volume control. Impressive control of internal crossovers, sound eq levels, subwoofer control, narrow/wide wave control, this unit has every bell and whistle you could hope for! The organic display is very bright and quite fun to watch. Only problem is, sometimes you get too hung up watching the display instead of driving.

Weakness:

The first day I had it, I was blasting the heat at full for about 30 minutes, and suddenly after about 1 hour of CD play, the CD-unit gave the error "HEAT". Which is just what it means, it overheated and I had to turn the a/c on for about 15 minutes and direct it neat the player for it to work again. It has never happened again to me again. It should also be noted that in my 1997 VW GTI VR6, my centre air-vent is smack-dab behind my h/u -- just to get the unit to fit was a feat in itself.

If you want top-of-the-line without worrying about adding an amp for your mids/highs, then the P920R is for you! I was choosing between the silver swing alpine CDA-7965 and this unit. I choose the P920R because of all the features it hosts. The main one being, you can play burned CDs with no problem. The organic display is cool to watch too, but if you're in the market for buying an H/U, *DO NOT GET SOLD ON FLASHING LIGHTS AND PRETTY DISPLAYS*, I 150% suggest looking at what it offers you first, then take the pretty cosmetics as a bonus :) I would recommend this unit for anyone wanting great sound, with all the features.

Premium OEM H/U for 1997 VW GTI VR6. It's a joke compared to the P920R. There's nothing premium about the OEM H/U!

Strength:

The screensavers. You got to love the organic display. The small remote comes in handy for the people in the back of my car. Theres features and features. It was very easy to install. The motorized face. So many different images that go along with the features.

Weakness:

only two animated screensavers. supposedly the organic display burns out within a year but mine and all other ones ive seen are still runnin great.

I paid a fairly decent price. I could have gotten it a lot cheaper if i had patience but i have no patience at all. I would recommend this product. It looks tite and its easy to use and install. Theres so many features that you will discover a new one on accident every month. This is a great buy.

Strength:

Organic display. The screen savers are great. Easy EQ. Looks very clean in my dash. Motorized detachable face. I also like the ability to add more components to my stereo and know that my head unit will be able to handle it (like the sub controls).

Weakness:

It is a rather pricey radio.

I paid $450 for this radio on the internet. I feel like I got a pretty good deal. So far it has made my aftermarket speakers sound very clear at high volumes. The DFS alarm is a cool idea, but I use an Ungo alarm so I did not hook it up. It pumps out good bass and has more features than I will probably ever need. I would definitly recommend this radio to anyone who want a very nice source unit and is willing to pay the cash.

Similar Products Used:

Sony CDX-M600. Good radio but the pioneer out does it in regards to sound quality. Though they both pump out about the same bass.

Strength:

Easy EQ, Great 4.8 volt outputs. Sceen saver a definite plus. Puts most other decks to shame. Very easy to install and has DFS alarm. Great Buy.

Weakness:

It was a little expensive, but well worth the cash.

I paid 440.00 for it and love it for every last dollar I spent. If you got the cash you might as well go with one of the best. Would recommend to anyone who is system lover like me. I have two amps running through it and just won my first minor competition with a db rating of 137. Wow this is a must have. Trust me
