Features, features, features.... Doesn't skip, cool screen saver. Best friend is now jealous. Out does his high dollar Sony. (his Sony was my second choice though). Remote works extremely well. Sitting on the tailgate is no problem for the remote as well as 20’ behind the Blazer. If you want a excellent unit and have the money buy it!!!

Weakness:

Lots of people think it is too pricey but if you shop around you can get a good deal.

Great Unit. Works like a charm. I think I got an excellent unit and I didn't mind the $434.95 price tag. I have it in a full-size K5 Blazer 4x4. It has never skipped in the 4 months I’ve had it. The only problem I had is when my wife saw what I paid for it. But after the initial shock she loves it too and recommended I put it in her car instead. It has tons of features and has the ability to expand to any system components you want to add to it. And I am adding more all the time.

I've listened to several CD players including Kenwood, Panasonic, Alpine, Sony among others. I have always like Pioneer and I am glad I spent the extra and got this one.

Strength:

Everything, from the built-in eq to the remote holder.I love the screensavers also, better than the dolphins in the lower models. For a head unit with so many features, I learned hoiw to operate it, from the remote in about 45 minutes, enough time for me to preset my disc names and optimize my sound.I replaced my existing separate Kenwood head and eq, all in one, the Pioneer takes it, leavng me a pocket to put my blunt and lighter in the second DIN.

Weakness:

Pricey! Wish it had a remote for the DFS alarm instead of having to put the head unit in. When the face comes down to be removed, you have to be carful not to put too much pressure on the organic display or thats it.

$500 and I would recommend it to anyone. It is just as good as my cousins older Pioneer unit that sat at the same level as this one (DEH-8200 or 9200), it is quite an old unit (5 years) but still knocks many, I mean many of the currently new units on the market that are new and improved. The organic display scares me a little condering that it is a detachable face and the only way to take it out, you have to lay your finger on the face, but no worry, 4 year warranty.

Strength:

I personaly like the screen saver (better than the dolphins thath the 7200 and 8200 come with) the motorized face, built in equalizer and the remote has a holder that comes with it.

Weakness:

I personaly love the CD player but the only weakness is it cost alot but if your looking to put a serious system in I strongly suggest you spend the extra bucks.

I paid $575 for my CD player and i recomend it to everybody who's got the cash. they won't regret it!!!!

Strength:

Great features like the motorized display and nifty screen savers. Great sound and easy controls.

Weakness:

Very expensive, the screen saver novalty wears off soon, the small remote is easy to lose.

Its $650 in my area although I get a discount at $450 because I work at Best Buy. I would definately reccommend it if you're willing to spend the cash.

Strength:

Cool features like the motorized face and the screen savers.
Great tuner..lots better than some of the other radios out there.

Weakness:

A little pricey. Has lots of features that are just cool..not necesary but for looks.

It's right around $650 in my area. I would recomend it if you have lots of cash to spend and dont mind paying for the motorized face and the screen savers. If you want to save some money, get the 7200. It still has the screen savers(a little smaller screen though) but lacks the motorized face. You'll save like $250 or more. Enough to buy new speakers or an amp or just to keep $250.

Strength:

Great sound over my stock radio. Screensavers are the bomb, the ladies love it. Great tweek ability, you can really fine tune the sound of the system. The CD never skips a beat.

Weakness:

The LCD display is hard to see in direct sunlight. Other than this little nuisance, the system is perfect.

Great system, although it can be a bit pricey. Your friends will all be jealous of you!!!

Strength:

Strong signal reception. Clean amplification

Weakness:

Lacks warmth; shrill on treble voice and notes, even when EQ adjusted; face plate completely invisible when there is light outside, making this unit unsafe to use during daylight; overly complex and most of the "features" not useable when car is moving; separation not up to par; the gimmickry on the faceplate should be replaced by a faceplate that is legible.

I believe that this unit is unsafe, unless you are willing to stick a CD in, adjust the volume and thats it. It may have a good fm section, but it is not worth $680 retail. It is simply not the choice for anyone who wants to listen to good music---jazz or classical or lite pop.

Similar Products Used:

Kenwood 800 and 900 series are much warmer with better separation and easier to use. Alpine easier to use, although somewhat shrill as well.

Strength:

Looks! Very visual and many many functions! Can't be beat. The only thing that I would like to have is a GPS navigation system. But gosh, I'm just asking too much...

Weakness:

If you want to count it as a weakness... It is distracting at night and there are a lot of functions. LOL. In high intensity light (like out here in AZ) it is hard to see, but hey, i've yet to see one that isnt hard to see in intense light

I installed the system myself and It was a breeze. If you are installing it yourself, make sure that you get the wiring harness. Really, the more options you have, such as amps, subs, alarms, and good speakers the more this system shines. Even if you don't have an alarm the 9200 has a DFS alarm triggered by the door and the alarm runs out of the speakers in your car. Not all that efficent but it could work. Um, but really, the graphics are great. After I installed the 9200 I just sat in the driveway at night and listened to the music and watched the screen savers for a few hours. Its spectacular. You will probably have to read the manual to understand some of the stuff. I still don't know some of it. Also, it has a PTY station scanner (as an option of FM station scanning), which is cool in all, but if you live in a small town or city then more then likely you wont be able to use that. NO big deal, just thought id say that. Anyways, buy it. Its a good system!

I had a Panasonic, bottom of the line in dash cd player. Sounded fine, but no graphics. Was also looking at the Clairon AutoPC.

Tons of features, RCA preouts, ability to connect to voice command, alarm

Weakness:

Can't see in direct sunlight, but hey, which one can?
Wish you could download some screensavers for it

I love this HU, it has lots of features i might not use, but who knows. great amplification, laser never skips, great defined graphics.
easy navigation, still have to read the manual to know all features.
Good deal at etronics.com, bought it december 2000.

Strength:

The scrensavers are awesome, but the custom audio settings are really what seperate it from other decks. With this deck you are able upgrade your sound system to the limit with 3 RCA outputs. At first I thought the remote control was stupid but it turned about to be a very convenient thing to have around.

Weakness:

Only 2 sreensavers. Complicated to use at first before you learn what all the settings mean.

A great cd deck. At first I did not want to spend more money to upgrade from my deh-2100, but I found this one as as open item at a local best buy. From the moment I installed it, I was blown away by the quality of the sound. My car got about 3X louder and the sub kicks a lot harder. Gives you true RMS watage unlike the lower end decks made by Pioneer.

Similar Products Used:

Pioneer DEH-2100. 2100 is not a bad entry level deck but is no where near the 9200.
