Sounds great and has the plain look, for people who steal them looks great in the night has the sub out put for a small sub, so the radio is powerfull.

Weakness:

When cd ends cant push the skip button so if you wnat to hear it again have to go all the way back.

I had this unit for around 6 to 8 months and it works great it is a good unit, sounds good for a sony. Never skiped on me and never mest up with any sticky buttons or anything overall good unit.

Strength:

made my factory speakers sound better.

Weakness:

an absolutely worthless piece of junk. it makes noise... sometimes.

biggest piece of crap. the buttons stick when the climate changes. skips all the time just when driving around, not even hitting any bumps. won't read some cd's. if a cd has a piece of dust on it, it won't read it. no aux inputs of any kind, so i can't even plug in my $400 Nomad3 20gb mp3 player i just bought. if i'm wrong, then someone e-mail me (xp3rt@kc.rr.com) and tell me how. just... it's the biggest piece of crap ever, don't buy it.

Strength:

Easy to use, simple layout and design. Good build quality for a Sony. Switchable Amber/Green Display. Clock is Large and Readable. Great Sound Quality for the Price. Controls are user-friendly. Contrary to other reviews, my unit does not skip.

Weakness:

Not visually impressive, could use EQ pre-outs from Mobile ES line.

Overall an excellent HU. Part of the line of HU''s before Sony went nuts and made everything RED. A great buy with room for system expansion. 2 sets of F/R pre-outs, NF subwoofer pre-out. MD/CD Changer Control, Custom Text File, D-Bass Controls.

Strength:

Not a thing, other than listed features like 2 pre-amp outs

Weakness:

Skips at every bump
Skips on most disks
Terrible controls (had to turn amps all the way up)
Doesn't even pick up radio stations
Eats CDs - carry plyers to get them out!

Paid 300. It is the biggest piece of junk!!! I finally pulled it out
yesterday and through it in the trash. Only had it for a year. You name
it, it didn't work right on this unit. It is the last Sony i will ever
buy. Should have known better. The last Sony I bought was a clock radio
that always picked up a local radio station. Before that I bought a Sony
portable radio that slowly broke until I through it out after 6 months.

Similar Products Used:

Panasonic G-shock, twice the unit for the same money but someone yanked the
face plate and made the mistake of buying Sony

Strength:

Packed with features. Easy to use. We were working all the features in a few minutes before we ever read the manual.

Receives more radio stations than other receivers we have.

Removable face plate. cuts down worries of being ripped off.

The remote control is nice too. Easy to control the unit when driving and someone in the back seat can operate it without bugging you.

Easy to see everything at night.

Weakness:

None. It has not skipped once. The roads in this town suck bad and even worse after the city works on them. If is skips as bad as they say we would not be able to crank our 400 watt Sony Xplod sub and amps and the 4 Sony Xplod door speakers @160 watts. And we do crank it too! The rearview mirror vibrates, your hair moves, you get a back and foot massage, but the unit does not skip.

I read the other reviews regarding it skipping easy etc. We had ours professionally installed. Perhaps that could have something to do with there problems.

$179. We love it so far. We would recommend it to anyone. Remote control, removable face, easy controls, 160 watts, can have other units added to it (MD, TV etc). It’s not a high end unit but it’s not a high end price either. But judging from the other reviews, I would also recommend having it professionally installed too.

Similar Products Used:

Pioneer, Alpine, Panasonic, they are very nice too. But this unit was easier to figure out in a few minutes of messing with it. Also this unit was easier to use at night.

Strength:

Reasonable power. Inexpensive upgrade to factory stereo. 3 RCA preouts. Separate sub - bass - treble settings. D-Bass control. Fold-down, detachable face.

Weakness:

Skips.

$180. In my opinion, an excellent buy. Easy to install. Easy to upgrade (amps, components). The receiver has a built-in TV Tuner, MiniDisco control, and many other cool option. CD Text is also a nice thing to have. For $180 dollars, this was an excellent buy.

Strength:

there are no strengths to this unit.

Weakness:

pure crap, stops reading cds, skips at every bump, serviced it once, wont do it again though

I paid about 179 fer it, got a good deal, however id rather burn that 179 then spend it on another sony. It skip, and in my case it stopped reading cds all together. When i tried to install it the cd motor went all nutty and wouldnt stop trying to spit out my cds. The next day when i plugged it in it worked again. Its too inconsistent and the sound quality aint great.

my factory cd player from toyota was even better

Strength:

sounds pretty good.

Weakness:

I returned it three times.. Skips for every bump in the road. I could not believe that Sony would make such crap. I will never buy sony again.

I paid $250. I returned this unit 3 times claiming that it was defective because of all the skips I experienced. It's been past 30 days so I'm going to have to buy another HU (blah). What a waste.. I agree, "skips when I fart!" hehe..

Similar Products Used:

Alpine, Panasonic.. doesn't even compare. Sony Non-es is total JUNK!!! save your money!!
