Model Reviewed: 2001 Infinity Basslink

Strength:

Amplified Sub for $200. Basic Bass. Better than flea market/cheap MTX type of stuff.

Weakness:

Low SQ. Low SPL. Low Power. Design can be tricky to mount.

I bought this sub for my girlfriend for her 2001 Honda Accord 4-door. She is happy with it, but she is not an audiophile by any stretch. I was quite disappointed with this sub, especially from a well known name like Infinity. The bass is muddy, and could be louder. I have the gain turned all the way up and it is not enough. Keep in mind this is not enough with a Sony CD Receiver running stock Honda speakers for the rest of the system. This Sub distorts trying to keep up with Stock speakers!!! If $200 is your absolute limit then buy this sub. Otherwise spend $90 on a Polk GNX 12" Sub, $50 on a cheap box, and $150 on a bottom of the line Rockford Fosgate amp...$300, much better bass

Strength:

Quality, clean and tight bass. Yes it goes low!

Weakness:

None for its intended use

All I can say if anyone needs more bass output than what this sub puts out is crazy! I am a home audiophile, who owns Krell equipment, so I know good sound. This little sub puts out clean, tight and natural bass. I was very surprised by the sound quaility. Set up right and it is perfect in everyway. My head unit allows me to put the sub in head banging mode and this little sub has no problem shaking the entire car! It is not a competition amp, but it blends very well with my speakers. The thing does its job without even knowing its there. I'm not sure if you could buy a seperate setup and have it sound better

Great Kick in the butt in a little package. I have this installed in my 1989 Camaro Convertible. While it will not win any competitions, I wanted some bass in my vehicle (a pair of 4x6's wasn't cutting it). Even driving 75 miles an hour down the highway you can tell that your songs have bass

Weakness:

i need 2 caps to power this all :( . the only reson is my crappy car, so im sure if you had a nice car that could handle the power, they would be perrrrrfect

i have 3 of t hese subs hooked up in my mitsu and they blow the competiton away. these subs make my car actually seem good. i have 2 facing the back of the trunk, and 1 downfiring. scince the mitsu is such small car, the subs really shake things up. the best part is you dont need an amp!!!!! i would highly recomend these to any mitsu heads with this horrible car.

Strength:

° The Basslink will put out more than enough high quality bass most people want or need.

Weakness:

° If you are trying to win a dB competition, pick another product. The Basslink seems to sacrifice output at the far upper end (i.e. where you start going deaf) in order to conserve space.

The Infinity Basslink is a great subwoofer in terms of sound quality. It's even better when one considers the miniscule amount of space it occupies in comparison to the average 10" sub and its accompanying box. In short, this incredibly efficient, great sounding package will suit nearly anyone looking for some more bass as long as they aren't looking for competition level sound pressures.

Strength:

Everything except one of the mounting screws still won't screw in all the way....

Weakness:

I don't know how much bass other people want to get out of a little unit like this, let alone the amount of bass they want to hear. the basslink puts out a lot more than most 10's can without taking up much space. Unless you are on a mission to go deaf within a year or are competing with your system, the basslink is plenty powerful for any type of music you can dish out.

I reviewed this before while I had it in my Corolla. Now, I have it in a 93 Accord and it sounds even better, probably thanks to the awesome sound absorption ability of the Honda with its thicker walls, along with bigger yet less power-hungry main speakers (the 4 in the car) which are louder to match the bass of the basslink. In my opinion, 10's are the best sized subs for accurate quality bass. they are characteristically tight-sounding.

Strength:

200 watt amp integrated; lots of smooth, deep bass from a well-engineered enclosure; space saver; easy installation

Weakness:

Just average sound pressure level output cannot compare to some custom boxes.

This unit is exactly what I was looking for: A compact yet powerful sub with amp integrated. I own a 95 Ford F-150 extended cab and was searching for a way to fill the lower frequency range without robbing my rear seating. I also didn''t want to pay upwards of $500-600 for a custom enclosure to fit under the rear seat. The basslink was the perfect solution and it provides just the right amount of punch, however, it will not satisfy those looking to rattle windows. I purchased the remote volume control and a wiring kit and installed it myself without any difficulty.

Strength:

Small, attractive packing, reasonable good sounds for the price point.

Weakness:

No remote bass volume control unit included. If you set the crossover below 70 Hz it sounds muddy. Set it a little higher, then the bass gets tighter.

I was looking for across-the-board good package, eg: small sub box incorparating the amp, "reasonable" sound quality, good wattage output, quality construction. The attractive main features are: 4 volt input, crossover control, and bass eq boost, and built-in fuse; this will compliment my car, a 89 Honda CRX, which the interior volume is small. In my research phase, I went to a local store to hear one perform, but I had noticed it was very weak due to the below average head unit with poor setting. The plan was to use the Bassilink with my Clarion head unit, which has a strong 4 volt output and coupled with the PG QXL RCA, made the Basslink performance respectable. But do not look forward this unit to be a SPL king. (Currently I have set the gain at 1/4.) When emphasizing the bass to my friends, I turn up the bass volume via the head unit. Now, I am quite happy, for all the attributes that I was looking for. If you are not in competition arena and need something to met your across-the-board needs, I can reccommend this product.

Model Reviewed: Infinity Basslink

Strength:

Professional sound: crisp, clear, loud, detailed, lively, lots of adjustment possibilities, sounds like a movie theatre... Compact design: fits in the corner of the trunk and can be mounted upright or on its side. The Basslink is also very attractive looking, not that people will be looking at it much.

Weakness:

Having a hard time getting screws in the frame all the way to secure mounting hardware, i think the woofers are made of treated paper, otherwise it''s perfect.

This is an awesome amped sub. I have the gain about 3/4 of the way up and it sounds so tight with rap, jazz, rock and everything else i''ve listened to. Weird thing is that if you listen to it up close (not a good idea to begin with), it sounds muffled, but when i''m driving along with it in the trunk, it sounds unreal. Give it some time to get all of the adjustments just right on the sub and also on your deck. I keep the db adjustment on the sub at 0 and the crossover at 120 high pass, with my rear infinity kappas (5.25")crossed at 120 low pass through my kenwood excelon deck (the kappas also have their own crossovers to separate the tweeter and woofer at 3000hz). I just picked up polk ex3''s (4")for the front at circuit city, and hopefully with them in (gotta tear apart the dash again...) the front will fill up better with highs (aimable tweeters are a must for low dash and door speakers unless you use separates).

Strength:

The best selfpowered sub.

Weakness:

Could have gotten a lot better for a little more. (Sub + Amp)

It is good for what it is: a small selfpowered sub unit. However when I first listened to it, I remember being pretty dissapointed; I expected the bass to be much louder. I have 100W per channel in the front speakers though and I wish I had something really loud (Like a Shiva with 300W, which would run me about 300)... anyway, seriously, my friend with a ported Pioneer 10" value deal with a 120W amp was louder than me when I htought I would blow him away cause his sub was directed toward the low end market with an enclosure included. He paid a little less than me. But maybe its the install... I give it a 4 only becuase im reviewing it for what it is, a small self powered/enlosed sub and it performs quite well for what it is. And it is pretty accurate in terms of playing notes and it Does fill in the bottom end.
