Strength:

The very low bass extension is incrediable it rumbles your butt out of the seat

Weakness:

The tinsel leads hit the cone on one of my four 12's so no the problem was definately not solved on the 12.1's but maybe they will be on the dvc's when they arrive. Also upper level bass is distorted yes it is distorted. Don't put them in a 1 cube box you won't like them mine are in a 1.25 and am looking to increase to 1.5

Paid 190 a piece and now have four. I would recommend it because I've got them and am going to get something with better SQ. I know that's a difficult challenge but can you say Eclipse or CMP because those subs are closer to perfect although none can match infinity extremely low bass except the new titanium cone Eclipse's which I'm looking at.

They are better than most but no perfect because of tinsel leads and upper level bass.

Strength:

performance:price ratio, long excursion, killer looks, incredible SQ for the price.

Weakness:

a tad inefficient, but I don't care. I value quality over quantity as far as sound goes.

Just got done listening to the Reverend Horton Heat's "best of" disc. I've never heard a plucked/slapped upright bass sound so beautiful through a stereo before. This sub does a superb job of reproducing the deeeep fundamental, the complex resonances of the body, and the wierd little pops produced by the strings hitting the neck. The Rev's song, "It's Martini Time" caused my vision to blur a tad from the lowest tones-and I'm only shunting 300 watts through it. If you're into jazz, classical, or any music that has lots of fast and subtle bass accents, this is the sub for you. It's happy rocking out as well. Rancid and Face to Face's basslines were handled equally well. Rap fans should be happy if they put this thing in a ported box, although it would make more sense to save some money and get a slop-bomb rockford or CV instead. But for my music, I couldn't be happier.

Strength:

Detail to music is great, Clarity is good but not at all the best I have heard, loudness is less than I expected, it does hit very low for the box size I built.

Weakness:

I have heard many people say the input leads tear off easy, and the one I bought from someone did, but I reatatched it and it runs fine.

I installed it in my van which doesn`t do very well with bass in the first place, but it sounded ok not too bad I expected it to be a lot louder and clearer if it was in a smaller car with a hatch or a trunk it would have pleased me more. It took my pioneer premier 10 in every way possible when I tested them head to head, but the audiobahn alum subwoofers are much much better, I would definetely go with them instead. These subs would be great to use as a woofer in a system because their voice coils are very strong and can take at least twice what they are rated so you can use a really tiny box andd pour power into them.

The JL 12w4 is about the equivalent only the infinity is clearer deeper, and more full range.

Strength:

Very clear, good power handling, doesn't take up my whole trunk

Weakness:

My car is about to fall apart, made me get pulled over for noise pollution

My experience with these subs was kind of strange. This is my first pair of subs that I have ever had (never had the time to get around to installing a car audio system). I did a lot of research to combine a good amp with a good pair of subs. My choice was the MTX 6500d amp which puts out 775x1 at 2ohms (or so they claim, closer to a kilowatt of power). I have these subs bridged so each one should be getting 300+ watts of clean power. My friend who owns a audio shop did the install. I noticed that when I first had them installed they were not nearly as loud as I thought they would be. For some reason the more you break them in the louder they start to sound. Now when I turn the volume up about half way in my car I can feel my noise hairs vibrate and every once an awhile my vision will blur. I have yet to turn it up all the way and probably won't do so for awhile due to my car trunk looking like its about to fly off. My parents always complain when I come over to their house that I make the whole house shake. The other night I was out in a rainstorm sitting outside in my car with my system turned up as high as I ever had it (about 1/2 volume) with the windows up and when I went inside they said that it sounded like thunder was shaking the house *cough* but it was the subs. I recommend these subs to anyone who is looking for good SPL combined with awesome sound quality. An example of the good sound quality is when I play some of my more musical cds, every single note is on time, it has a tight hit and will not distort even on the higher notes. The one drawback that I do notice is when playing some of the real real deep notes on some hip hop cds I kinda notice the notes distorting but not. What I mean is they don't play as tight but the way it plays compared to other systems is still total quality.

Strength:

Very good sound quality
Can get loud for an sq woofer

Weakness:

Takes a lot of power to push it to full potential. Don't go putting a 200 watt Profile amp on this thing.

Very good sub. It plays VERY deep for a 12 (much deeper than any other 12 I have heard). It will take far more watts than rated at. The hot setup right now is a JBL 1200.1 with a pair of perfects. That is nearly 700 rms per sub, and they take it.

The optimum box size is 1.25 ft^3 sealed, not the recommended 1 ft^3 box. Te larger box gives much more powerful lowend bass, and doesn't effet the overall spl or power handling.

I put a single one of these 12's in a friend's 2000 Sunfire in a 1.25 ft^3 box. After playing around, I found rear firing was the best for this car (it is different for every vehicle). An Infinity Beta Digital 100 was choosen for power, 400 x 1 rms. The sub can easily take it all with no distortion. This thing gets loud for a single 12. The lower octave of the bass will shake everything in the car. Due to the low crossover point and capable components the higher bass is not directed through the sub. It was actually loud enough that the gain had to be turned down considerably to balance out the sound.

The original amp in the install blew an output and started dumoing straight DC into the sub. That causes a constant current through the speaker, with no chance to cool and can easily blow a sub. It lived, even though the problem was not discovered for a few minutes. Go hook your sub directly to your car battery and see how it lasts. I was surprised.

This is a good sub. Sound quality is great, it plays so low and clean. It can get very loud as well, using it's full 14mm x-max (which requires about 500 rms) will give great bass. That isn't twice the x-max of other subs like it claims, but it is impressive. Most subs in this class and price range have an x-max of around 10 mm. 4 mm is a large difference when it comes to spl.

Strength:

Its so fast to hit.It hits as fast as a 10 but yet his hard as hell.It also can be put in a small box and sound great. It doesn't take alot of power to push them ether.

Weakness:

doesn't have one.

I got two Infinity Beta Digital 100s bridged at 4oms pushing 400 watts rms each to two Infinity Kappa Perfects. I got a Lightning Audio capacitor helping my amps so I know I,ll have all the power I'll need, and beleave me its got power before I get to my friends house he hears me like two or more blocks away. So if you want bad bass without spending thousands of dollars the Perfects are for you.

The whole design.

Weakness:

Aluminum cone may scratch easily, but if you know how to install them, you will not have to worry about it.

I have these(2)in a sealed 1.5 cubic foot per sub enclosure, in a 1999 Chevy S-10 extended cab. I am running each of them on a Phoenix Gold XS2300 which are rated at 300 watts for a 4 ohm load. These subs are beautiful. Not just to look at, but the sound quality is perfect to me. I have never heard bass so clean in my life. I have not tested them to see how loud they will go, I just installed them last week and Infinity told me to play them at a typical level for at least a week to break them in. It doesn't matter to me how loud they will go, I'm in it for the sound quality not the SPL's. But from what I've read, they will crank. I currently have all Infinity Kappa speakers in my truck, and I believe it will stay that way. I believe that if you install them right, run the right amount of wattage and take good care of them, they will last for however long you want them to last. This, of course, is coming from someone who has had only a week's worth of experience from these subs. So, you can decide for yourself.

Best Lows I've heard from a sub in a long time. Its definitly a value at this price and you can get it for a lower price. I choose service over price though and if you are like me then Crutchfield is the way to go. This Sub is spectacular! No audible distortion even when pushed hard! Its clean and powerful! One of the best I've heard, and trust me I've heard almost all of them.... Its a absolute beauty to look at as well!

Weakness:

None found yet except for the lack of a dual voice coil model which would aid in single-sub applications. Other than that, I'm still looking and listening....

I have the sub running on my low power cheap Power Acoustic amp. It runs like a champ even on this amp. When put on my Digial Mono Sub amp its spectacular! Great performance! Clean and Powerful even with low wattage. But it can handle the power too so pour it on. It won't distort and if it blows its 3-year warranty guarantees clean powerful sound for a long time!! Try finding a 3 year warranty on some of the competitors...most are 1 year.
