Strength:

Everything this is the Zeus of the Subs there is no comparison. You cannot believe the force of this speaker when you power it right and put it in the right enclosure. I am running a 12 that will put most 2 x 12 systems to shame.

Weakness:

You can tear the spyder if u push 600 watts to it.

BUY this speaker if you can provide the box and power needed, I assure u that u will b damn happy.

big box.

I like the sub. One of the best sub I've owned. This only reason I'm getting rid of it is because I'm getting a HCCA. I absoululy adore this sub.

Strength:

GREAT VALUE! Hits hard and low with the proper porting and power, pretty tough and cool looking surround. ofcourse I'm a psycho with car audio so I have a Farenheit 1800 Watt amp (1000 Watts RMS) hooked up to one and it actually lasted about a week, very impressed, and for that week I was out pounding any pairs of 12's people were throwing at me. Just me and my little Vega.

Weakness:

Small magnet, and could use a butyl surround if it didnt affect sound quality too much.

I absolutely think this is the best SPL-Price ratio, this suckers pound. I enjoyed it while it lasted!

Strength:

This sub pounds and does so VERY CRISPLY, very deep for a 12''. Handles 600 watts with the gains turned down a lil' with NO PROBLEM. I think that Cerwin Vega has made a perfect sub at a great price also.

Weakness:

Some songs with this sub produce "sloppy seconds" Bass. Gave me a headache the first night I got it. TOOK A LOT of work to cut the rattles out of my trunk....still some present

I would definitely reccomend this sub for anyone that wants to fill their car with awesome, deep, pounding bass. Make sure you get a nice amp, not a junky one that saves you money. I have a JBL 600.1 pushing a single 12'' in my boat of a car (Volvo 760 Turbo) and its STILL LOUD! I will most likely be adding another Vega, just because my amp is ready for it with its available power and I can't get enough of the bass. I paid $140 for the sub, $80 for the box, and $310 for the amp, which is normally $550 at retail stores.

IDQ 12'' SHOCKER 15''. Loudness is right in between these two subs, and the quality of the bass is better than both.

Strength:

It pounds till your brains rattle

Weakness:

Slight Deafness in my left ear

For all you stooges out there running this bad bisoch with your limp amps in small enclosures of course it bottoms out of course it blows out it takes a real mans amp and a big box to run this sub I would say at least 300 watts rms or else your wasting your money and space. And another thing if you are running any more than 100 watts rms (which you should be) you need a big ported box or else you be popping the thumpers like zits on a grease ball's @$$. This sub pounds if you got the space and the power. I am running it an extended cab ranger with the rockford 360a2 and a .5 farad cap to help. This thing pounds till my ears bleed I don't even have the fosgate totally cranked because my back window rattles too much. I have had no problem with this combination except for the cops which aren't to fond of the combo. Just throw on some Bass Mekanik and wait for the mind numbing bass.

Strength:

good low end. thats about it

Weakness:

blows out to easy, bottoms out to easy, looses sound quality after a short period of time and to big of box. not pleased at all with this sub. have competed with them for over a year and a half. planning to change over to digital design subs.

after competing with this sub wouldn't recommend it to others. spl drops about 3-5 db after the first couple runs.

Strength:

Cant put too much power to it..LONG EXCURSION (the more air you move, the louder the bass)

Weakness:

takes a big box...but in a general case..more efficient subs require bigger boxes, but not always true

There is just too many things i wanna say about these subs...but to start we will talk about the people who hear that popping noise..i had the same thing, till i emailed cerwin vega and asked a dealer nearby...you take a sub and put just hook it up..with no box..it will over extend and pop all day long. There is a certain port size for each box. your box is either too big, ports wrong size, not enough power. Another reason you could hear distortion is by taking ur amp and turning it all the way up. This will cause the amp too "work too hard" and send distorted power. I did this with my vega 3200 and then realized i had to upgrade. I had a 2.68 per sub with a 4 inch 8.6 length port...i emailed CV and they said i needed a 2.5 box with that port. So i cut my box down and well..with 2 12's and the Vega 7000 (700 max to each) i am hitting 140 easy. If your vega's are popping or distorted, then its not the sub, its your fault. Oh and for the ppl who put them in sealed boxes. Dont do it too long or you will burn out the voice coil. They wont be able to breathe, plus they are 10 times louder in ported, ive heard both! My friend kept killing 10's in a sealed box, like 4 subs destroyed :(. Ive spent much of my time trying to find the best overall sub. I used to loved JL, till i actually learned about subs. Excursion = bass...RF's longest excursion is their Power punch DVC's at 1.12 inches.(or at least posted on their site) JL is the 15w3 at 1.36 Kicker is even less..The only subs that I have looked at so far that compared in excursion is Audiobahn. If you want loud bass, good sounding bass, well this is the sub. Dont let someone who dont know what they are doing discourage u from buying this sub..im sorry, but its just the best sub on the market. If anyone would like to talk about these subs with me, maybe you have experienced a really good port size for DB, then email me. Thank you

Model Reviewed: Vega 12 8 ohm

Strength:

clear, fast transient, deep, very full range for being ported, loud, good looks, has a lot of throw, musical, nearly perfect.

Weakness:

I have heard that the connection between the spider, and cone is not very good, and I guess that it is true because both that I have bought had that problem before that I fixed them.

I didn`t think that the vega 12`s were going to be that good when I got them (probably because I don`t like to port subwoofers and it is only recommended to be ported). I have used it in a house stereo system for a few months now, and I haven`t seen a movie that hasn`t sounded good (When I was watching Demolition man it knocked a picture off of my wall). This is the first subwoofer that I have ever bought that sounds right in the recommended box, most companies try to claim the smallest boxes around, at least cerwin vega knows what they are doing. I am using the spl type box, and it still is full range, and deep. On smoking green by Master P when the 18 bass note hits it sounds very good in house, the only ported subwoofer that I have used that can do that. Anyone that says they are sloppy sounding subs doesn`t know what they are talking about. It puts out incredibly fast transients, and sounds smooth I can`t imagine what it will sound like in a car. Highly recommended.
