Model Reviewed: eclipse 10inch aluminum sub

Strength:

they can take a beating

Weakness:

none

These subs are bad. I have never heard a 10inch go so loud except for a jlw7. They are really clean too especially when hooked up to a good amp. JL audio amps are preferred. Sub sounds good in any kind of music ranging from hip hop, country, rock, techno. I got strict standards and the eclipse are able to meet them. the only other sub i would recommend would be a jlw6

Strength:

best looking driver Ive ever seen, built like nobodys business, a 10" weighs 14 pounds, amazing SQL, can sound very loud and clear in sealed boxes, most subs need to be ported to sound this loud. very difficult to blow

Weakness:

they can be power hungry, but thats it

Well I have two vehicles with sound systems in. I use this one for my everyday car. I have a pair of 10s sealed in .75 cubic ft each, running of an Mtx 81000d amp. They are beautiful subs that hit every note with force and clarity. They are pretty much indestructible, I have blown many subs, but cant seem to do it with these. I dont really buy the 500rms ratings since my 10s are take about 700 each, with no signs of distortion even at very high volumes. For SQl there arent a whole lot of better subs out there. The only subs Ive dealt with that I would take over these, would be an IDMAX, or A W7. But I wouldnt dish out the cash for a W7, I could get 2 eclipses for the same price, and it would be louder doing it. They hit very fast, can actually sound like an automatic machine gun with the right bass line. If your looking for a sub that has great Sq, but can get loud at the same time, look no further its an Aluminum from Eclipse

Strength:

Great accuracy, cool looking (aluminum cones), big power handling, loud

Weakness:

None

Great subwoofer. I currently have it in a SQ setup (powered by a 600watt Mcintosh amp) and it sounds amazing. Extremely tight, accurate, and low bass for a great price. I used to have 2 infinity perfect 12's, but I got a new car and went with one of these bad boys. Infinity's are good, but these are much better. The music sounds more realistic and is definately tighter. Ebay is the way to go!!

perfect balance between sound quality and spl.looks tight.expecially when being bumped.one 10 is enough.

Weakness:

if you think the price is too high consider the pharase "you get what you pay for" this sub has no weakness.

ddaaammmm.this thing straight up slammmzzz.no one needs this much bass unless youre deaf and want your eyeballs to rattle off your face.I chose this 10 because i dont have much room in my camaro so instead of getting two decent 12s i got a super 10.I didnt think it was going to be this loud.hardest sub ive come across.i listen to rap and nothing else.i can appreciate all types of music but i prefer hip hop.I tested this sub with a jam by eazy e i think its called "i rather f!@# you"and the sub gave what i was looking for.mad props to the eclipse scientists that put this beast together.

Strength:

high output, small boxes. unequalled looks. great sound quality (although my boston pro rivals it in that department) power handling is pretty good

Weakness:

mine went up in smoke :( need good midbass drivers to help (not necessarily a weakness)

this sub is amazing. clarity and tightness are great. this ten sounds like a fifteen, it hit lower than my two twelves ever would, and i though they hit low(they hit beats that my frind's kicker comps didn't even play) this is one of the best subs i've used yet. it doesn't play upper bass frequencies well with my experience, so solid mid-bass drivers are necessary, but DAMN! i was running mine in an 1.25 cu. ft. enclosure for smooth response. it was running off of an Orion xtr 900.2 bridged, getting about 900+ watts rms, and after about two months, it fried. no more output, the voice coil melted, but my friend's still works, i think i just overpowered it or got a defective one off of ebay or something.

Model Reviewed: not sure what year it is, model 8122.8 8 ohm

Strength:

loud as f***!! hits extremely hard, too.

Weakness:

starts to distort, but that don't happen until i push it way way farther than what the healthy limit is

For only $20 bucks at a yard sale, i'd say i found the deal of the century. i have this sub in a sealed box. it is the hardest thumping thing i have ever seen( with the exception of Kicker L7 15's)! the first day i hooked it up i pulled into a parking lot and set off a car alarm 3 cars away from me. the 12 is accompanied by to pioneer 10's from wal-mart (don't let the place of purchase fool you, these are some bad ass subs). the 12 is pushed by a bridged pryramid 300w 2 channel amp and the 10's by a rockford 250. if anyone out there has one of the 8122.8 and has the technical info on it i would greatly appreciate the info. my email is Rippsnoter@aol.com. it didn't come with any manuals or info on it, just the sub
