Strength:

If put in the right box good deep bass.

Weakness:

with a bandpass box you cant hear the high bass and the midbass sounds bad.

I love my two JBL's i bought them for $40 already in a bandpass box, but the bos was weak it wasnt built for the speakers. After i built my new bandpass box to the air-space JBL said I needed the low bass was killer. I reccomend putting these subs in a bandpass box. Mine are installed in a 1996 Ford Contour.

Strength:

Good quality for the money i spent on them.

Weakness:

Distort at high volumes.

I bought two jbl's from a friend. They came in a sealed box with no spacer. They are great sub's but they seem like there not pushing there hardest. I'm wondering if i should buy a bandpass box for them but i have no clue how they will sound in one. I have them in a 91 chevy cavalier rs 4-door. They seem to sound alot better with a seat down, maybe because its a hatchback box. I am running them with a 600 watt 4-ch amp i bought from schucks. Should i put them in a bandpass box? you can reach me at gecksterpuppet@yahoo.com

Hey, I just wanted to let ya'll know what ya'll are missing out on. I came across these speakers (2) in a pawn shop for $179. They came in a MTX airless box and now I have them in the back of an Explorer hooked up to a 600 watt amp, and they are bumpin! I would deffinetly buy more of these if I ran across some more!

Model Reviewed: JBL loud and clear

Strength:

Low demand of power for "loud and clear" bass look really good in a black carpeted box not cheap cause they are great in quality but very low priced 2 for 80 bucks

Weakness:

they dont make anymore of these and u cant buy anything that has this good sound for this low price and low demand for power

These subs are great for the money. I have a kenwood amp that puts out 120x1 rms pushing both of them (they are wired in parallel). I have a friend who has a 2 kicker cvr's and he has 350 watts to each of them and im up there with him for alot less money. They hit really good for short blasts and long runs but at the higher end of the bass spectrum my amp is killing the notes with its cross over. i wired them to a different amp with 150x2 and they did great all the way arround. The people who blew them tell me how u did it cause even with 250 steady i havent blown them they are rather durrable. with alil bit of power they sound great with too much they distort some. For someone with a low budget these subs are great. they even compete with some that run up to 200 a piece. my friends comp vr's arent at the max rms but they dont get much better with 500 watts i think jbl struck gold here.

Strength:

good sound quality at high volumes and good price.good for spl

Weakness:

power handling but thats a good thing for money.

I bought these babies frum a local pawn shop for 50 bucks in a dual bandpass enclosure. and they are the shiz!!!! i got them hooked up at 150 watts rms from a kenwood kac-823 400 watt amp and they kick my friends systems ass! he has a 2 12 inch alumapro subs and an american pro amp that puts out 300 watts per channel and mine is 150 watts per channel less and it kicks it's ass by 5decibles acording to his meter thingy. THese are a good buy and i think jbl got jacked for the price because these sound better than a lot of expensive subs that i've heard.

everything good no distortion just pure bass

Weakness:

cone could be more quality

Absolutly the best sub you can buy for your $$$. I hooked one of these up in my 1973 pontiac grand am with a pioneer receiver and a Legacy LA-220 amp and it pounds.

Strength:

Hits hard, clear sound, cheap

Weakness:

Not as loud as bigger subs.

Awesome sub. I hooked it up to my Pioneer amp, which gives out 380 watts bridged. The blow the heck out of my Pontiac Fiero. Seats pounding, mirror jumping, and a clear loud sound. I think these are perfect for anyone on a tight budget or who just wants nice sound without spending $200 on a subwoofer.

Strength:

they will pound with a relatively small amount of power and they are inexpensive

Weakness:

limited excursion capabilities

i bought a pair of these for my girlfriend for xmas in 2000 and have been powering them with an alpine 75x4 bridged into 2 channels ever since then. my initial testing of the system left me amazed. the entire 95 civic coupe was flexing, the door skins flexed to the point of rattling, i had to line them with dynamat to shut them up. the rear window has even started to leak. these inexpensive beauties just plain put out. run a nice amp and a crossover set under 100hz and put these in the proper ported enclosure and don't try to play them below the tuning frequency of the box and they will rock for quite some time. if you are looking for a nice speaker from a known name in the audio world for under a hundred dollars and you want to make some real noise, then this speaker may just be what you need.

i have had pretty much every speaker imaginable, and these work very well even in comparison to some of the much more expensive models i've had
