Strength:

Subwoofer is designed for sound quality with low wattage. You can get great sounding bass with a 100-200 watt amp. You don't need a ton of power because you are not fight a stong magnet and strong suspension. This is not a SPL sub.

Weakness:

Requires a larger box than other lines.

If you want a ton of bass go buy a 1400watt amp and then find high wattage subs to crank. But get ready to spead a ton of money, because a pair of high output subs will cost $500 to $750 and the amp will set you back a grand. It doesn't stop there. You better not buy all that equipment and think your set. If you don't take care of your power supply the amp will fight your pathetic car battery for power and you'll end up popping fuses left and right. I personally love these high output systems, but if you don't cover all your bases you are wasting money. Example, don't buy a pair of 800watt rms 15" subs and buy a 200watt amp. It will be sloppy. This is why everyone thinks 15" subs are sloppy. They aren't. You just need the power to control anything that moves that much air.

The JL audio 10W0s. My current system has four of these subs. I'm running 600watts to them which amounts to 150watts to each 125watt speaker. Not bad. I built a slightly oversized box (on purpose) and filled with polyfil. By the way people, build very strong boxes and brace it like crazy and bolt that thing down in your vehicle. When your subs are cranked all the way up, you should touch that box and feel nothing! These subs sound incredible. The sound quality is insane. I knew when I bought them that these are not SPL subs, they are SQ subs. I wanted SQ and SPL - that is why I have four of them.

I always here people saying stupid things like, four tens beat two fifteens. I have a 600 watt system. Use wattage as a meter for SPL. My last car had 2 15"s with 1200 watts running to them. Loud & Expensive! If I wanted to expect the same volume as my two 15s I would need 4 more of these subs with 600 more watts. The SPLs should be close then. One big difference is that these 8 JLs will have better sound quality. The cost wouldn't be all that different, but the box volume would definitly be larger with the 10WOs.

I think this sub does a great job at its intended application. The sound quality is outstanding. The 12W0 has same quality yet a little louder, but will want more box space and some more power to control the addition air that it moves.

Strength:

Crisp, Clean bass for your buck. These subs can really pound with the right mono-amp powering them.

Weakness:

Cannot reach low db that 12"W0's can.

Good for your Buck. What can i say.

Strength:

-Not expensive -Efficient -Good bass quality at low levels -Worth the money -(3) 10w0-12's for only $250 -Small enclosure requirements -JL Audio quality and power handling

Weakness:

-Doesn't hit as hard as I thought -Bass quality decreases as db increases
-Best at low levels

When powered slightly (150 watts) they sound clean, deep, and loud. When overpowered (400-550 watts) they don't distort but they don't sound deep. For $250 you can get two JL Audio 12w3-d4's and outperform these in everyway (with a smaller enclosure too).

Similar Products Used:

Three JL Audio 8W6's will out perform these in every way, power, quality, and most importantly dbs. Better than competitors of the same class like RF's, Kickers....etc.

Strength:

-they were cheap
-good begginer system
-added a bit of low end to my system

Weakness:

-they are a very cheaply made sub
-they're efficient only because your not gettinga very big magnet ( therefore not a very loud speaker )
- I had 4 10" W0's with a Rockford punch 800a2 amp and they still sucked

I bought these subs for my very first big bass system, they were loud and had a decent punch to them but my amp was too much for them and they topped out ( VRC means nothing ). So I ran my amp from 4 ohm down to 8 ohm and they sounded a little better but I still wasn't impressed. The best part of these speakers is that they are cheap and work good in a small enclosure. I sold them and bought 2 12" Rockford HX2's and run my amp at 4 ohms and have a way better system. They sound cleaner pound a lot harder and take up less room in my trunk ( 98 honda civic si ). I had these subs going with boston acoustics mids and tweets which are purely amazing ( $700 that's what you get ). now that I have the proper low end with my new rockford I fell that I have a phenominal stereo. super clean and can still pound when I want it too.

the whole damn product! any other JL series sub would be better than this one

I had the tri 12" power wedge box hooked up to a kicker ZR240.. you'd expect that match up to be made in heaven, but they barely even hit hard! they sucked soo bad! My newest two 12" inch Alpine type 'S subs hit sooo much harder! dont go w/ w0!

Strength:

-Wonderful bass sound
-Cost effective for what you get. You work hard for your $$, get a good value and a great speaker at the same time.
-Versatile speaker...can handle almost anything you throw at it with ease.

Weakness:

None that I can REALLY complain about. Actually, I had to tweak back my amp output so that the JL could blend better with my in-car speakers.

I have one 10" JL in a PowerWedge box and all I can say is DAMED!!! The bass sounds so good. I am more into SQ than bumping and distorting the vocals and my JL doesn't dissappoint. The PowerWedge had the EXACT slant as the back of my Civic hatch (just worked out that way). I am pushing the one JL with a Kenwood mono'ed out to one channel and the 10" really likes it!! Get one ..you will love it. It has great thump when you need it and will make a great addition to your pre-existing speaker system without being overkill at the same time.

Also, I recommend that if you get the PowerWedge box from JL ...get the speaker grill (if there isn't one on there already). I was forever trying not to puncture my speaker when loading stuff in my trunk.

Strength:

Lowest bass i have ever heard. Shakes the piss outta my Celica. They're great.

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet

I've got them housed in a JL box, i think it helps out a lot. Also, i am running a Clarion 400w amp and i am using only one channel to power these two subs. My buddy has a 1000w Pyramid amp and 2 12" JL's and they just can't hold their own to mine. They're nice. Can't EVER get a better deal either

I used to use two 10" BOSE, the don't hold compared to these things.

Strength:

These subs provide incredible bass and sound quality for the money spent. I can get these for $60 a sub off the internet! They also can take quite a beating, I ran them off of an amp giving them 400rms and they took the power, and didnt blow. They are great for anyone who doesnt want to spend a fortune but wants BIG sound. I have put my two JL 10s through so much, and they still continue to pound, I have never given them their rated power, the least I ever gave them was 225rms

Weakness:

The only bad thing that happened to one of my subs was that something banged into it, not very hard and knocked the cone off, I glued the cone back on carefully, and the sub worked good as new again

Overall a great little sub for the money, they can take WAY more power than JL says without blowing. These subs were probably one of the best things I ever blew money on. Im only getting rid of them now to get a 12w6 to go along with my rockford off of a 1000watt amp in my car. Had the 10s and the rockford 10 all of that amp in a little toyota at one time and it was enough to shake windows!

Better sound quality than the rockford fosgate line of subs, Much better than the Pioneer's I had at one time, better sound quality than my Rockford 10 HE2, but they dont go as low (to be expected)

Strength:

2 10W0 in a powerwedge box, hooked up to the Eclipe 3650 amp. The sound quality is great. Deep low bass that sounds great with every kind of music.

Weakness:

They could be a little louder, but they are not SPL subs.

These are a great pair of speakers. It should be every kids first subwoofer purchase. overall great sounding bass. you dont measure a sub by how loud it gets or the size, you measure the sub by the total package which 10W0's deliver. JL audio, Greatest car audio company in America.

SQ equal to Eclipse but not as loud.
