Four JL 15W3's although some claim they leave out different areas of the bass spectrum, I beg to differ. The note that spidered my windshield was clean, well-created, and not to mention F*cking LOUD! The W3 series (and W6 for those without that much trunk space) accept all power and deliver it back to you and the next few neighborhoods.

Weakness:

weakness? In a JL?!? LOL

I attended the 2000 USAC held at Bartyl Hall in Kansas City, but did not compete. I hadn't yet attended one and believed I wouldn't stand a chance. Boy was I wrong. I at least could've taken home a trophy as tall or taller than my 6' self. Four JL Audio 15W3's would've ate up the competition especially in the lower power divisions (My 15's are running off two Rockford amps totaling 160 watts!) I was using some of the real spl readings there to compare to mine and came up with about a 162 Db reading! DB's at that level REQUIRE some ear plugs after the cd player volume hits 8 on a scale to thirty. I have my 15's in a custom-built wall in my extended cab that integrates into the velveted center console. The amps are mounted on the wall and wires displayed. I can be heard blocks away in supermarkets, I can seriously interrupt peoples orders at the Taco Bell drive thru. I have put a number of white flourescent lights at the car wash out of commission. I have people at the Motel 6 two blocks away get up and ask me to turn it down. I've been told I can be heard on the highway at about 70 mph through both sets of windows. All this credit to a quadruple of fifteens by a speaker company destined to top charts. I gotta hand it to them. They can seriously shake some sh!t.

this speaker hits clean and crisp. nomatter how much you push this speaker it, for some reason this speaker is always handeling what oi hit it with.

Weakness:

none so far..... knock on wood!

i was driving home one day at about 11:30 p.m. and some guy next to me was slamming his sounds. i never knew what kind he had but it sounded like crap. so when he turned it down i told him lets go to a part and sound off. he said ok. so when we got to the park we slammed his sound that sounded like crap and i turned mine up. his car's sub's couldn't even be heard at all. that was kinda cool. i have to go check how much db's im pushing right now because my g/f doesn't want to ride in my car anymore because she says that she gets sick. so i must be pushing at lease 125db's i hope. my goal is to hit 175db's in my car.

Enormous amount of bass for such a small price. Holy hell this thing sounds great.

Weakness:

None so far

Recommended to anyone looking for a subwoofer under 400 bucks. This puppy kicks the crap out of any other sub in its field. I got a Phoenix Gold xs2500 running 500watts to this sucker and I couldnt be more pleased. BRAVO!

Strength:

This sub hits...had it in a homemade box...built to JL specs, in my old car(88 Corolla coupe), competed twice in IDBL contests and took home first place at the first one hitting 142.2db(one 12w6), at the second qualified with 143.1db but due to difficutlies not realated to the sub, i placed third. All you have to do is give this sub the power it demands-i had mine off a PPI 2300-and this sub will last forever(brother has had one for over five years...and is still slams!!!) MUST BUY IF LOOKING FOR GREAT CAR AUDIO

Weakness:

None

There is only one thing better than taking home IDBL trohies, and thats is sitting down competitors with three or four subs in your car-and you 12w6- and watching the look on their face as the bass slams...all off your one little 12:Þ--worth the price tag

These subs have the power to intemedate anyone else in the same block as you that has a system. i had two jl 12"s and about 800 watts going to them from a crossfire amp. i live out in the country and my girlfriend could hear me for 5 minutes before i came into town. i never had any trouble out of these speakers except the constant vehicle up keep from having to tighten up screws all over the car.

Weakness:

they will make you go deaf quick

i paid 450 for two of the puppies in a sealed truck box and they hit unbelievably hard. i would not recommend these speakers to anyone who doesn't want to be heard. but if you love loud ass music buy jl audio.

Strength:

deep, tight, and loud bass

Weakness:

plane lookin black color.

I was lucky enuff to have found a 12w6 used but still pretty new for $100. I placed it in a sealed box and put it in the cabin of my SUV. It is powered by a Phoenix Gold Amp xs2500 with approx 300+watts(rms). OH MAN This is the best sounding, hardest hitting, and tightest bass i've ever heard. I was surprised as to how much power it can handle and how deep it hit with a single 12 and yet, it sounds so clean. ppl think i have 2 or 3 12's inside my car. I am looking to purchase another 12w6 for my other car and throw out those RF's. If you're looking for a hard hitting bass tightness, and clarity look no further than JL Audio W6's.

I have recently purchaced 2 JL 12w3's and all I can say is they beat the crap out of anything I have heard. I was at the db drags in Bristol,TN this year and 75% of the people were using JLaudio. Powering my subs is a kenwood excelon kac-x401m amplifier. My headunit is an alpine 7839 cd player. My highest spl read out was 152.6,and my amp is only on a half gain. In conclusion, these subwoofers really pound and if your in the market for great sounding speakers, try the W3's you will be glad you did.

Weakness:

The only flaw I could find is not in the speakers,it is keeping theives from breaking into my car and trying to steal my setup.

I have invested about 2000.00 in the whole system. I would highly recomend JL audio to anyone who is into car audio,

Strength:

The JL 12" W6 is the best sounding, deepest bass out there that I have heard.

Weakness:

not a damn thing

I have a 94 toyota extra cab PU with 3 JL 12" W6 right behind the bench seat and all I can say is....DAMN! Those babies pound loud as hell. I have heard the W3 and the 18" W6's and my W6 sound the best by far. this summer I plan to put a canopy on my truck and put an 18" W6 in my bed so I will riegn supreme in my little town of juneau alaska. I bought the box and the 12's for 650 bucks and I got a great deal...they were used but the person I bought them from is the owner of Juneau's JL dealership so they were in great condition and the box handles them perfectly. All my friends like the bump and I turn heads on the street from afar.

very loud, very powerful, not to expensive

I,ve installed 3 12w6's in my 89 grand prix. I used the bandpass enclosure and a very powerful amp. these things hit very, very hard. Anyone who says they suck need to hear my car. These subs are powerful, you can't sit in the car with it above 3/4 volume. the bass shakes your body so hard it literaly makes you sick.
the best part is these brutes arn't just for spl. in the rigth box they can be used for sound quality. the price isn't too bad so anyone wanting a great all around sub should check into the 12w6 subs. All of my friends love to sit in the car with a competition disk in the player. I went head to head with a friend with 4 kicker comp 12s, and in the end he agreed they were alot louder.

Too Much Money, Too Much Distortion, Remanufactured

I have 3 10W6 Dual 6ohm subs in a small sealed box. They're being pushed by a Memphis 1000D Amplifier which is putting out 1100 RMS Watts while running down at 1ohm. I originally bought two of them in a box and paid $550, however with it running at 1.5ohms it didn't sound that great so the place I bought them from ended up throwing in another 10W6. However they still don't sound that great considering it has a new Alpine Signal Processor at the front end. I was less than Impressed I haven't checked the SPL but I bet it doesn't hit 135db, which is weak cuz I have MTX Thunder5000 12's which aren't as crisp and clear, but probably hit about the same SPL. Also all the subs were bought as new, but have Remanufactured stamped on them. I'd recommend the W3's over the W6's.
