Strength:

none that i know of

Weakness:

can''t get the low bass in the small box, too much power to get them moving.

I had two of these in .88 cubic feet for each sub. These subs hits the high notes very very well but when it comes to the low bass these things sound like 1 10 inch. The break in time is too long and when they do get broken in its not much difference. I had a mtx 2300 on them which is about 750 wts. They handle that with no problem. They need an ass amount of power. I think that was the reason for them sucking in the low bass area. They do sound nice at low to medium volumes. i would recommend some eclipse or jl audio before i get these. I had a stroker 15 and i put it on the same amp and the stroker totally killed the two L7''s. The stroker had way way way lower bass and was loud as F***. If you read this review, trust me i know ever thing about car audio. I''m not one of those people who just talk sh**. I know what the hell i''m talking about. So if you want some killer high bass get these, but if you want that nice low thundering bass these are not for you.

Strength:

build quality, spl, looks...installation flexibility

Weakness:

Long break in period if you don''t have a bench. Power HOGS...I''d say 600w minimum if you really want to use them :)

Ok first off..for those of you reading this because you''re actually shopping for a sub PLEASE ignore all the negative comments about this subwoofer. This sub ROCKS. It''s not the cleanest thing out, and it''s not the loudest thing out, but for the money, it''s the best. All of the negative reviews posted are either due to the reviewer underpowering the sub (I''m running 1400 watts to just one of these in a +3.25 ported enclosure and I''d like to run more) or the reviewer failing to read the directions and actually BREAK IN THE SUB. I''m sure they all set their brand new subs up on a test bench and ran 30hz to them for 8 hour or so. If they didn''t do that..you know they didn''t ride around for 2 weeks with brand new subs @ medium volume to break them in. Please don''t write reviews in ignorance. I don''t have any SPL measurements...just understand that 1 of these subs in a vented enclosure will produce higher SPL (typical application) than 2 in a sealed box. 1 in a sealed box is louder than 2 regular subs period. So do the math..that''s right 1 vented 12L7 is (on the average) louder than 4 regular 12" subs (say...jlw0 maybe even w3..but that''s pushin it). Oh my.

Model Reviewed: Well the CAR is a 1997 Chevy Malibu

Strength:

The small enclosure space (or so I understand). The bass is hard and tight, not merely deep; I think that''s important. I like how they don''t take up as much room in my trunk as I thought subs would.

Weakness:

So far I don''t have any gripes. I got them very cheap brand new. Had them over a year now and they haven''t blown and the quality hasn''t dropped. I am just trying to find ways to stop my car from rattling all its body panels off!

I don''t know where to start. These are amazing subwoofers. I have 2 S12L7''s in a totally sealed box and they are powered by a Rockford Fosgate G800a2 amplifier that actually puts out 990 watts. I don''t know much about wiring, but I am told by my friend who installed it that they are bridged mono. They rattle my car to an extreme and make my rearview mirror useless. The vibrations these things put out is incredible, they massage your back! I put in Nelly''s "E.I." and cranked up the volume to show my friend the bass and he said the vibrations were making get a hard on! He had to get out cause the vibrations were just screwing him up! With all the bass and power, its weird that they don''t hurt my ears as much as I figured they would, hardly at all in fact. The bass actually messes with my eyes and throat! My car doesn''t have dynamat or a capacitor and I definetly need that dynamat. My lights don''t dim, but I think I need a capacitor anyways because my inside speakers are on a 300 watt amp and my subs are on a 1000 watt amp, so that is 1,300 watts total system output, so I think a capacitor is in order. They don''t hit deep per se, but they do hit very hard and very tight. These subs are so loud and hit so hard that my six inside speakers, being used just for highs, can''t make the highs to match the bass in the songs. Except in songs where there are high vocals, however. But I don''t mind! The only way I would use different speakers is if they were the larger squares, the S15L7''s, with more power. I am scared to find out what the square 15''s will do with even more power than the 12''s. I ran across my friend while driving one time and we were sitting at a light and he said he could feel the vibrations from my subs over in HIS car! I am not sure what SPL is, so I don''t know what to say about that. Overall they are amazing speakers.
