Strength:

Exceptional power handling. Great price.

Weakness:

None, you get alot for a little bit of money.

I purchased (2) 12" MTX Thunder 4000 subwoofers and a box and they sat around for a couple of months until I bought my MTX 81000D amp, then I bought (2) 15" MTX 8000''s, but it took 2 weeks it took to get my 15''s to be shipped, so I hooked up the 4000''s, so each sub was getting around 500 watts rms, they sounded awesome. After about a week, one of the subs voice coils burned up, but the other still works and it is just sitting in my room. Those subs took a lot more power than I ever expected.

Strength:

They can really produce some good loud bass to complement any system, but you have to remember youre pushing mtx''s low end 10"subs.Great bang 4-da buck!

Weakness:

Not really a weakness, a protection for me,really, but you cant hear them too much outside the car. but if everyone wanted to hear your music, they would ride w/you!

I have these two 4000 10''s in a small pickup and have had no probs so far. I had them hooked up to an old school punch160 amp and they rattle the mirrors. Now I just re-wired evrything and they hit way way louder.(and i havent even got a chance to crank it yet!!)

Strength:

You can use small RMS to get big gains with this sub.

Weakness:

Power handling is okay, but can get blown very easily. You also might need a big box to get the most out of it, sound wise. ( I use 1.5 for each in a non-seperated chamber)

These are great subs no doubt. For fifty bucks each, they hit pretty hard. Great part is, scince they are budget subs and usually people wo buy these use smaller amps, they use "less power". I recommend these over the rockfords. But. as always, boils down to the listener and what he or she may like.

they hit pretty hard

but don''t hit hard enough

My two 12''s hit pretty hard. Not as hard as I expected but just hard enough. I got them cause I only paid $50 for each and I think it was well worth it. My 800watt autotek amp pushes them real well.

Exception power handaling for mtx''s low end subs.

Weakness:

I had 2 - 12''s hooked up to an MTX 81000D. Each sub was getting over 400 watts RMS. It took 2 weeks before the voice coils finally blew. Damn they hit hard though. Great sub for the money. Planning to upgrade to 8000 15''s soon.

Strength:

Hard hitting bass for little money. Best "hitters" in their price range.

Weakness:

For the money I paid $0.00, none.

Got two of the 10" free at HH Gregg if you bought an MTX amplifier over $200. I have used the 6000 series before and loved them. But I thought since they were free they wouldn't be all that. I was wrong, they hit hard. Great value for the money even if you buy them. I think they were like $80 without the promotion. They seem to want power and the more you got the better. I this system in my car;

JVC CD headunit
Rockford 51/4 fronts
Factory backs (that will change this weekend)
MTX thunder 275x amp on the subs (bridged to 2 ohms)
2 10" thunder 4000 MTX subs
