Strength:

Sine wave bass, like "bass cd" bass absolutely HUMMMMS. The price can't be beat. At 199 a PAIR from crutchfield, you could easily buy 4 of these and be STRAIGHT!! If you are supplyin the power they need, (they sound good anywhere from 250 to 400 watts RMS) these subs will deliver clean, accurate, and loud bass in virtually any app. The m&$#a f*&%in dust cap is amazingly strong, and the surround is nice and thick. Finally the sq is impresive at all levels.

Weakness:

the spider seems a little weak, but then again,i havent cracked one or anything, I'm solely basing this judgement on looks alone. But if you ask my opinion, and i guess you probably are, sinse you're reading this, the sub is an all around sturdy, strong, and reliable sub.

First and foremost, MAKE SURE TO USE THE SUPPLIED GASGETS, OR SOMETHING ELSE TO MAKE AN AIR-TIGHT SEAL WITH YOUR BOX. CC, where i got it installed at thought it not nessesary to use them, in turn BLOWING one of my subs in the process. sinse there was air leaking out all around the thing, there wasn't any pressure in the box, keeping the cone where it was supposed to be, and so, it tore its self apart. The installer, also thought they sounded like crap. WELL SURE THEY DID, SINCE THE '''SEALED BOX SUBS''' WERE BEING PLAYED LOUD IN A VIRTUALLY PORTED BOX WITH NO KIND OF TUNED PORT, BUT WITH AIR LEAKES ALL OVER THE PLACE. Needless to say, after i got a free sub delivered the next day, and put them in the box my self, all sealed up, they hit hard, fast, and lowww, with ease. I would recomend this sub to anyone who craves sound quality, and wouldn't mind spl, as a side effect. They rokkk my van, and that's a big air space, so if these were in a hatchback like that new ford focus............(you know when the subs are flexin and HUMM is juat all around you, you can feel your eyelashes ticklin you eyeballs, enough said)

Strength:

I have four 12's that absolutley rock. I have them powered with two fosgate 800a2 amps. Deep tight bass that will not stop. I hit 169.4

Weakness:

You need to have a lot of power to push them, but push them hard, and they rock.

Simply the best sub i have ever had.

I have had 2 12 kicker comps, two 12 fosgate hx2, three ten jlw6, and four 12 mtx8000(which sounded like crap) and they hit harder and more presise than any of them by far.

Strength:

Excellent sound quality, they'll play pretty low also. good surround & thick dustcap. subs look pretty good. loud enough for me.

Weakness:

Could have used gold plated terminals

I purchased 2 dx10s for $150 about three months ago. I have an alpine 757 pushing them in a parallel 4ohm load and i think they sound excellent. very clean bass. not the loudest sub i've heard but they're still pretty loud. i love the small box design and the build quality of the sub, they're very durable. i am very impressed with the overall dx package. i would recommend these to anybody except those spl guys.

Average-High SPL

Weakness:

distortion at low wattage

I have 4 of these in a 95' Jeep Grand Cherokee powered by two MTX blue thunder amps. The bass is good but not very tight. They distort with these 150 watt amps if gain is turned up to high. Its not enough bass for me, probably because I am comparing them to my friends 4 12" alumapro alusonics. They are a good by for the money if you do not take car stereo seriously.

Strength:

tight bass, sturdy build, good deal at Crutchfield (2 for 170), clean looks, great SQ, decent SPL, TINY enclosures (.66ft^3 for the 10")

Weakness:

big surround takes away from cone area and the xmax is relatively small so I don't understand why the surround is so big...only decent SPL

I've been using these subs with an MTX 500D for about a month now and I'm pretty happy with the results now that I have it *almost* set up the way I want. These subs are punchy as hell. They take a long time to break in, since I have about 30 hours on them and they still get louder every time I get in the car. People say they are purely a sound quality sub but they can hold their own, especially with low LOW frequency hits. Bassheads should look elsewhere but I recommend these for anyone who wants their music to be full with very clean bass. BTW, these are EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE MOMO'S, just with a different dustcap, and people claim the Momo's get pretty loud. Go figure.

Handle power. Juiced one up with 450 watts and it didn't blow the dustcap off. Rode around with it like that for a week, and nothing happened. Sounds great. I am impressed with the power they could handle. I power my JL 12w6's with 400 watts and I thought they were the only subs that were truly underrated.

Weakness:

It has POLK written on dust cap .. heh
seriously, can't complain for what i spent on them. After all, you get what you pay for.

I was planning a system for my g/f's car for xmas. So, I bought her 2 of these Polks from circuit city on clearance. Ended up pushing 300 watts through each at 4 ohms. If it wasn't for the new splits in the front, you wouldn't hear anything else but the subs firing. The are great subs for the price. Crutchfield has them on closeout as well, at 2 for 170 i think. Spectacular subs, first time I have ever been impressed with Polk.

Strength:

strong clean bass, no distortion even at high volume

Weakness:

These subs produces clean, strong, and accurate bass. Made for SQ, not for SPL. I have 4 12" DX install in my benz, powered with 2 amps (JBL 600.1 and MTX 500D ) and the bass pounds with lots of clarity. Be sure to have more than 2 subs if you're gonna install it in a Benz, cuz Benz are built like a tank and two subs won't be enough. Highly recommend! only paid 75 bucks each =)

Strength:

Strong Clean bass with the right amp. Good for the money!!

Weakness:

The momo's Look better but Much more expensive.

I would suggest that if you are looking for spl this is not for you but if you are looking for a clean system (SQ) where you could hear at or low accurate bass then these are your subs... I bought two more 12' polk dx. I am really happy with them. I plan to get the MTX 500D or the RF 800a2 to power these three 12 dx subs!! IF your looking for subs look into polk audio.

Strength:

Build quality, binding post connectors, very strong ABS dustcap, incredibly strong butyl rubber surround. An all around great product.

Weakness:

Bass is perhaps slightly on the dry side. This cleared up as the sub broke in however.

Paid $70 for the dX 12" on Ebay, great deal worth every penney I paid. Extremely fast transient response particularly in a sealed enclosure. Handles 100 watts no problem and keeps coming. An amp capable of puting out a min of 100 watts is a must. The sub has an excellent frequency response and easily plays down to 20 Hz. Great for anyone looking for a clean, classic Polk sound.
Components used with sub:
NHT SA1 Amplifier (For testing only)
Monster Cable 10ga Speaker & line level
Q-Logic sealed enclosure (yuk)

Easily beats RF, Sony, Kenwood. Gives MTX, Infinity, Cerwin a run for their money.
