dx8 & db8 subwoofer mike
Model Reviewed: mkplmp@webtv.net

Strength:

Small enclosesure space, tight sounding with excellant sound quality, the more watts the better, excellant built sub.

Weakness:

Sub can be over powered which than bottoms out with a resounding thug.

Paid a $150 apiece. I would recommend these subs for a sound quailty system but not for a SPL system.

Strength:

Rumbled the car, even through 2 aluminum plates seperating the trunk from the 2 seater interior

Weakness:

It broke. I used a 225 watt Sony amp, and after a month or two the coils seperated.

The installer at The Good Guys actually turned my amp up too loud, +10Db (max)on the mono channel. This probably attributed to the thrown coils, but either way, with my amp turned down and my MTX in, it still rumbles my little car way more than the Polk did. Of course, the Polk was definetly a good value at $117, but should not have blown under the conditions pumped out by my Sony amp.

Similar Products Used:

MTX Thunder 6000 - The MTX pumps out a better sound (lower frequency) and vibrates everything more in general. Handles max output from the cd player with medium amp settings with ease.

Strength:

Awesome sound quality, great lower end bass. Rumbles great

Weakness:

lacks a bit in higher bass, but it's not made for that. Doesn't like 800 watts, stick to the rms

Well I bought this sub a while back and loved every aspect of this sub. Great sound, great quality, liked power. I had this sub running with my Kenwood HQ 12 with 300rms and 1000 peak, so I thought the polk could keep up with it at 2 ohm mono cause of the higher rms rating. But after about a month of hard use the spider ripped apart and I could hear the sub rattling. So I sent it back to the ever wise people at nexxon.com cause they said it could be fixed, and all they did was glue the spider back together. Well it never got fixed, but I'm glad I got to hear such good bass out of it for the month it was workin. It sounded great for deep bass, but didn't thump half as good as my old HQ. But the sq was way better than the Kenwood. Only speaker I've ever heard that sounded as good as this sub was an infinity kappa perfect. I'd strongly recommend getting this sub if you want your car to sound good. Despite what people say, dont be expecting to take a competition by the balls with these subs. At 87db's that'd be hard. But these things are really great woofers and worth gettin any day. Just don't buy them from nexxon cause they won't get fixed if it ever needs it.
