Strength:

The catalog provided by Flowmaster depicts this as a "monster" of a muffler...which, it is but...only if you have a monster of an engine. My V6 Firebird has an American Thunder catback with 2.5 exits and it gives a good idling note. If you have a V6, then it will give you a meaner sound, just be carful not to get anything more than 2.5" exits or you will regret it. Flowmasters are well built mufflers that are capable of outliving your car, plus they are small. I painted mine with high-temp flat black paint, and it is barely noticeable under the car, which is better than that stupid OE hump-looking muffler it came with.

Weakness:

In the higher rpms (while revving in neutral) it may sound somewhat "ricey" but is barely noticeable during highway driving. It won't make your V6 sound like a V8 because it lacks the throatiness. It WILL give your V6 a meaner tone. The sound can get annoying to some, but I usually have the music up so I never hear it.

If you want a little bit more sound, yes. If you are looking for performance, then the muffler alone ain't gonna help you unless you compliment it with a high flow cat, y pipe and headers. The Flowmaster systems for the true dual Mustang Cobra's and GT's is awesome, I strongly reccomend the American Thunder for the GT owners. Price was 70 for the muffler from summit racing, 120 at the muffler shop for mandrels, labor. I think it was worth what I spent.

It is a good value....better quality-wise than Dynomax but NOT Borla, Corsa, etc.

Strength:

Sounds better than stock. Lasts longer than stock. Mild horsepower increase(15-20).

Weakness:

I don't care for the turn down look at the exhaust tip. This exhaust isn't very loud either. Compared to my friends 86 Iroc camaro with different series flowmaster mufflers this car is a sleeping kitten. I am moving onto Borla.

Overall this product cannot be complained about. It has a good quality, is durable, and is cost efficient. Would I buy it again? I think I would try something else. 3" exhaust is impressive to talk about I just wish Flowmaster has a lounder muffler. Especially since they brand it the "American Thunder" exhaust system. Hope my article helps you in your exhaust decision.

very reasonable price,good flow,great sound,simple installation

Weakness:

not stainless steel so the finish shows oxidation

This is a great system. Its not too loud and not too quiet, sounds well tuned. It has good flow with the 3" pipe. I don't have headers yet, but I do have a high flow cat which I would recommend. It does have a single outlet on the left side of the car, some don't care for this but, afterall the car doesn't really have dual exhaust so dual outlets don't gain anything anyway.

I intimidate alot of people in the area.Even Camaros.Camaros just cant sound like a pony, sorry chevy drivers. My Mom always complains about when i drive past the house, how it shakes the floors and everything when i ride by.This is a cool system system.

Weakness:

None really. Can be a little loud sometimes, but oh well. I cant sneak out of the house anymore.

Everyone loves my car. Even some of the chevy drivers at my school. They dear not race me when i pull up next to them.My neighbors sometimes complain when i drive through the neighborhood. Oh well I love this exauhst system.

The first thing I have to say is, this is one of the loudest best sounding mufflers you can get. It turns heads like no other. I noticed performance gains as well. But the sound is what I like best, Borla, Dynomax, they just can't come close to Flowmaster in sound.

Weakness:

I don't think it has weaknesses, maybe a little to loud every now and then, but I don't care.

I reccomend these mufflers to anyone with Mustangs, Firebirds, or Camaros. I heard a TransAm the other day with the American Thunder system, sounded awesome. And to all you Mustang owners, get the American Thunder kit, you'll love the sound. The force 2 just isn't loud enough. Plus Flowmaster now has polished tips.

This exhaust game my car a nice low rumble sound. It also took about .3 seconds off my quarter mile time compared to the stock exhaust with a turbo muffler. I also like the look, I got the 3in. cat back system that has two 3in. stainless tailpipes exiting the rear of the car.

Weakness:

none that I have found yet.

I would definately recommend this product. Its a great system for the money. It looks and sounds great. The system also made my car run much stronger as seen by a .3 sec decrease in my 1/4 mile times.

Strength:

Great performance. Easy to install. Wonderful sound. After this was bolted on to my car, I noticed a definite performance upgrade and my only other modification was cold air induction.

Weakness:

UGLY. This exhaust only comes out one side. The stock muffler comes out two sides and gives the illusion of dual exhaust. Now everyone that knows nothing about the car asks me why I took the dual exhaust off (F-bodies have only one cat and one muffler. The stock has two pipes coming out of one muffler). Now that I have headers and a very high flow cat, the thing is loud as hell and no one will race me. Oh well, I haven't been pulled over for being too loud.

This is a very excellent product for the price and for performance. The only drawback is that it's very ugly because of the one big pipe coming out of only one side. I would say buy it if you don't care what your exhaust looks like or get a resonator tip. Also buy it if you only want better sound. Otherwise, I'd say buy Borla. I'm now thinking about buying Borla because Borla looks so much better and provides better performance (but it's twice as much money). Either get this or Borla. This is better for the money in my opinion. Everything else is garbge.

sounds awesome on my bored-out 355! Very deep and nice rumble at idle. It's gets even better as I slam on the gas! Very pleasent sound from in the car while driving with all the windows up.

Weakness:

I haven't really noticed any performance change because the car already hauls but who cares...it sounds kick ass.

READ THIS IF YOU WANT BAD ASS SOUND!!! I took off the Corvette muffler and replaced it with Flowmaster two days after I bought the car. It creates a much deeper rumble at idle and sounds like a racecar as I am screaming away from the red light. DO NOT USE if you plan on sneaking out late at night!! My neighbors hate me and when I crank up the Vette next to my other car it sets off the alarm...not even a thunderstorm has been able to do that. I had my exhaust replaced all the way up to the headers...that explains the extra cost. If you own a V-8 get in your car right now and have one installed immediately. Tell your wife you're going to miss dinner because believe me you will be outside revving up an entire tank of gas listening to that beautiful sound!

Sets of car alarms in parking garages :-)

I was disappointed at first until I discovered the the factory converter was clogged. Replaced with a Carsound hi-flow unit and WOW what a difference. Huge power increase with that classic Flowmaster rumble and high quality construction. Now if they just made a system for my VW....

Ok...stop laughing people...4 bangers need good exhaust too...I have had this system on my car for just over 3 weeks now and it sounds great, not like a normal 4 banger at all, combined with a Y pipe this is the best thing you can do to your 4 banger mustang!

Weakness:

Weak sound at idle with my sad little 4 banger, but anything from 2000-4500rpm it sounds GREAT!

I' recommend this system 100% even if you do pay full price at a shop it's very well worth it.

Similar Products Used:

Personally, none...but it sounds better then my friend who used a ricer system on his 4 banger.
