Performance!!!

Weakness:

None.

I recently had the GReddy SP Exhaust installed on my 2005 Subaru STI and then had my car dyno tuned by a licensed tuner. I am happy to report that as a result of the new exhaust system I was able to pick up an additional 30 WHP. The fit and finish of the system was excellent, as was the fitment to my car. There were no issues with the installation and all the hangers mounted up perfectly. The sound was very muscular and not at all tinny or droning.

Strength:

Sounds and looks great. The cops will not bother you with this exhaust.

Weakness:

Not much HP gain.

The exhaust fit great, looks good and sounds awesome. I didnt want a loud exhaust system so this one was perfect. It is not much louder than my stock exhaust at an idle or normal acceleration, but it has an awesome sound in the higher rpm's.

Strength:

Rich sound, Ease of installation, extremely attractive.

Weakness:

Nothing as of yet. Although I have heard of longevity issues...

I have just recently installed the redesigned SP 2 system on my 04 eclipse 4cyl, and thus far have been very happy with. The sound is aggressive and low without being annoying. I can still drive long distances very comfortably without a tiresome drone. Under a heavy load I can actually hear my AEM cold-air intake more than the exhaust note however freinds have told me that is does sound incredibly well-tuned. After having had an Arospeed universal muffler on a 99 Grand Am with no cat, 3 inch custom cat-back, cold-air intake and a number of fuel system upgrades, I was hesitant to put any other exhaust on a car. The Grand Am was so loud that driving more than 10 minutes would literally give you a headache and driving any distance at all would closely resemble that of the way you may feel during a brain hemmorage. I chose the SP 2 system because of the subtlety of the muffler tip, and the Greddy name, but after using it have grown increasingly fond of the rich sound this exhaust produces and the fact that it was a breeze to install. It took about 40 minutes with the help of my girlfriend (I know, she should have been making dinner or something...). This exhaust works perfectly with what I am trying to achieve with this car; subtlety, cleanliness, and quality.

Canister portion of the exhaust is holding up nicely--shiny with no real noticable wear. For you new people, the sound of the SP gets better with time--lower rumble. Cops, especially in San Diego--don't seem to notice the aftermarket exhaust as much as the straight oval cans.

Weakness:

As mentioned above the midpipe blew. Power gains are severly minimal--don't let the sound fool your brain that your going faster!

Okay, I wrote a review of this exhaust on 3-11-01 and felt it was time to update people about this product. Every review on here is generaly "good" (as was mine), however I believe that is due to people just perchasing this exhaust (brand new items are always good). After 3 years I wonder if this exhaust is really worth it. My wife and I drive our Acura quite a bit and have put roughly 50,000 miles on the exhaust since purchased. After a year and a half the midpipe of the system busted. It started to make this horrible clanking noise whenever the car excellerated from 2-3000 rpms. How could this happen? Any exhaust over $500 should not have any problems with anything after just a year and a half. I replaced the midsection with just some normal cheap piping from the muffler shop after Greddy refused to replace the part. Other than that the exhaust has proven fairly reliable. Now onto my next point about any exhaust. Why purchase an exhaust? After Fast and Furious hit the movies everyone and thier sister has some sort of performance exhaust on thier car now! Just the other day I saw a Geo Metro with a cat back exhaust? People today but aftermarket exhausts for two reasons: looks and sound. I know i'm going to get a lot of flack for this--but catback exhausts do not produce that much power! Overall you will loos all low end torque and only gain maybe 3hp in the upper rpms. Everyone thinks that if they smack on a exhaust that they have instantly transformed their car into a 1000hp monster. After spending much of my life around the tuner market I have had enough! Save your money and invest in some sort of forced induction set up. Because really in the end that is the only way to make any kind of noticable difference on a Honda engine (again I will recieve flack for this). If your looking to deepen the tone of your car and enhance the looks by all means an exhaust is a great way to go--but that's it.

HKS--nice but spendy. After putting thousands into tuning a Honda engine I finally got smart and bought a brand new WRX which is considerably faster stock than any modified Honda engine (sorry but true).

Strength:

Excellent sound, which is easily managed with light throttle and/or shifting early when your coming home in the early AM. Moderate power increase. High quality look.

Weakness:

Longevity. Nothing more.

If you are looking for a deep sounding, non-raspy cat back exhaust, the Greddy SP would be one to seriously consider. The power gain on the top end was enough for me to overlook the minor lower end torque loss. I have had mine for slightly over 3 years now (40,000 miles). I also have AEM CAI, DC sports 4-2-1 header, and no cat installed along with the exhaust. I think Greddy makes some high quality products, but my only beef with the Greddy SP exhaust is that recently I have noticed that running high rpm's the exhaust is now getting slightly raspy. Nothing close to the rice boy's ebay weld on's though. I imagine it's the packing/baffles in the exhaust starting to go. I would have hoped that the exhaust would have a greater level of longevity, but I doubt it's enough to prevent me from bying another Greddy exhaust. The sound you get from this Greddy exhaust is very deep, and will turn heads. Highway driving does get loud, but thats why you have that insane db producing bass in the trunk ;-). In conclusion, this exhaust's throaty rumble combined with the power bump, and that shinny tip coming out from under your body kit makes it highly recommended. And if you are just getting into the import scene, and think that slapping on a cheap exhaust will seperate your car from others, people will remember that glass packed terrible high pitched sound more than you would like. Just save up because we only have one set of eardrums. {}peace{}

Sounded real nice before it started rattling.

Weakness:

DURABILITY. I expect a stainless steel cat back exhaust to last for more than 5 years!

When I bought this exhaust I thought it was great. Now it's falling apart, this system is NOT durable at all! The baffles in the muffler are loose and rattle, and the midpipe leaks and needs to be replaced.

pretty good exhaust system. very quiet. if you floor you car, you will notice the engine noise more then the exhaust. no cheap buzzy more thing going on. piping came in 70mm, which i believe is 2.5in. better for turbo cars

Strength:

Sound, affordable, and fitment.

Weakness:

Somewhat awkward looking tip.

So far I am pleased with the performance of the Greddy exhaust. This exhaust has a very quiet sound below 3000RPM, but after 3000RPM the sound becomes much louder (especially after vtec engagement). This quality makes it good for city driving but loud on the highway. So far it has survived Pittsburgh winters and has shown no signs of corrosion from salt. The replacement resonator is quite large and does scrape the ground (the car is lowered approx 1.75-2.00 inches). The exhaust was installed in conjunction with a Greddy header (DC Sports intake already installed). After installation the car pulled better around 4000RPM and above. I also noticed I did not have to downshift as much when traveling up hill. Overall I would recommend this exhaust to anyone looking for an upgrade over O.E.
