Flowtech Headers Exhaust Headers

Flowtech Headers Exhaust Headers

DESCRIPTION

All FLOWTECH Headers are constructed from specially selected lengths of mandrel bent primary tubing, precision die cut exhaust port flanges, and four-into-one mandrel formed collectors. These components are then precisely assembled and welded in specially designed fixtures. FLOWTECH maintains strict quality control at all levels of fabrication and assembly; then each header is leak tested to assure problem free performance. After passing quality control testing, each set is then finished with an electrostatically applied paint.

I replace ill fitting expensive brand headers with these. The flowtechs seal better, cost 1/2 as much, and look great! They went on super easy even though my 55 has modern side engine mounts, a clutch z-bar, a 605 power steering box, and power brakes...about all the options that normally cause issues with fitment. I will be buiying a set for my Chevelle this Fall! Excellent product!!

Strength:

Included holes for O2 sensor and other smog stuff. Flanges etc are thick and well made.

Weakness:

1. Really difficult to change rear spark plugs on driver side. 2. Coating flakes off - but prob resolved with spray can of heat paint.

Engine rebuilder installed a set during engine overhaul. After 3 yrs and 40,000 miles - no leaks and work fine.

Strength:

None, should have spent more money to buy a better set.

Weakness:

To many to list

I am a profesional mechanic and have installed many sets of headers, these are the absolute worst I have ever seen. They are poorly made, the paint was rubbed off right out of the box, had to sand, repaint and heat cure. Also they fit very poorly, welds are terrible, pipe fitment is all off, leaked at collector connection. Had to remove from car and extensivily modify to get them to seal properly.

Strength:

Look nice, Nice price, Sound good, installation was not a complete hassel,

Weakness:

Header Bolts have to be excessivly retighten, Lost a few header bolts due to becoming loose, Collector Bolts have become brittle due to just a few warms ups and cool downs, Collector Gaskets are leaking, Bolts are too close to header pipes making the tightening and installation hard, I would also like them to consider including header rap in the box for the vehicles with ignition wires close to pipes, after 1 month after installation I already had to replace half of the ingnition wires

I installed flowtech hearders on my 94' GMC Z71 because I had a large crack in my driver side manifold. Installation was alot harder than removal. All in all it was not really a big problem. The hardest part was driving to the mufflel show to get them to put the new collectors on because I couldn't accelerate fast cause I didn't want to bend a valve

Drivers side was a pain. Had to bend one of the pipes in so it woulden't be in contact with the frame. Pasenger side I needed to get a smaller oil filter.
