Flowtech Headers Exhaust Headers

Flowtech Headers Exhaust Headers

DESCRIPTION

All FLOWTECH Headers are constructed from specially selected lengths of mandrel bent primary tubing, precision die cut exhaust port flanges, and four-into-one mandrel formed collectors. These components are then precisely assembled and welded in specially designed fixtures. FLOWTECH maintains strict quality control at all levels of fabrication and assembly; then each header is leak tested to assure problem free performance. After passing quality control testing, each set is then finished with an electrostatically applied paint.

Strength:

Drivers side was easy. Noticable improvement overall.

Weakness:

Pass. side was a pain. Last bolt in the back was fun.

Drivers side installation was OK. Pass, side was a pain. Had to lengthen the air pump tubes and tie it up out of the way so they wouldn't melt on the headers. Getting to last bolt in back was hard too. But persistance paid off. Didn't lose any low end, pulls harder through the mid and upper rpms now, where before it seemed flat.

Strength:

Good performance gains and the install was not to hard.

Weakness:

Some Pontiac heads don't have bolt holes at the end of the heads, so you have to drill and tap a hole on each end of the head. Had a real hard time tightening the bolt that was the fourth one back on passenger side. We had to grind the head of it down a little to get the header to position in the right spot.

These are a real nice set of headers for the price. The black coating comes off to easily, but it was still worth buying them.

Hedman headers. The number two passenger exhaust tube was touching the crossmember, so we sent them back to Summit Racing without any trouble.

Strength:

Good fit/easy installation Good power adder, nice sound Low price

Weakness:

None, in my case

I found Flowtechs to be great street headers for the money. For the warmed-over 327 I had in my Z28, they were a good match. They fit well, sealed great and appeared to be of decent quality. Good power, great sound. However, highly modified engines would probably need more race-oriented headers.

price...love the price!

Weakness:

quality control from manufacture!!! I also called for tech assist and was on hold for 25 minutes...and it''s not toll free!!! I still did not talk to anyone!!!

Haven''t got the chance to use them yet.Passenger side lines up with crossmember(will not be able to install collector piping due to crossmember)Driver''s side fit like a champ! No-go on passenger side. Also had to jack engine, remove motor mount, drop starter, bend transmission cooling lines, ( and it still would not go in from bottom as per the instructions) swing alternator out of the way and remove negative cable to block to install from top...just to find out that it does not line up!!!

used Hooker and Headman prior with no problems. I will probably just use factory shorty headers from the junk yard.

seems to give good performance

Big time fit problems, bumped up against the automatic transmission linkage, spark plug tip nearly hits the header, right up against the power steering gearbox. Nice performance, but a nightmare to install.

Everything

I have a 350 72 Cutlass and orderes the Flowtech Headers for this car from Pep Boys. Well my local shop went to install them and ended up having to pull the engine to install them. Prior to pulling the engine they failed to remove the bolt holding the TH350 diptube from the back of the engine and tore up the dip tube. I had to locate a new dip tube for them and had to have a Chevy aftermarket tube altered to work. Next they broke the engine oil diptube while trying to bend it around the header. Then when they "Fixed" it they used RTV in the block to hold it in place. Well recently I went to check the oil and the tube came out of the block and I could not get it back in correctly. So I took the car back to the shop with a new dip tube and instead of fixing it correctle they cut it also and RTV ed back in. THIS IS NOT WHAT I wanted. Now I have ordered another diptube and will see what a different shop will do. THESE HEADERS ARE NOT FIT FOR USE ON ANY VEHICLE!!!

Good finish, light.

Weakness:

Poor quality control on one header. This is the same header that my plug backs into so perhaps it''s bad all around on this one header.

These are block huggers on a 383 SBC swap. When the exhaust guy was hooking them up for me he mentioned that they hadn''t welded a flange. No biggie, I figured he meant the bottom flange and that it would seal up fine. Umm, no. Seems none of th ebottom tubes on one side are welded up. Or at least not welded up enoguh to prevent exhaust from shooting upwards from the center of the tubes in the engine bay. They also missed a weld down below - true. I''ve nto yet contacted them about this but will be, I had to giggle at the "pressure test each one blurb" in th ereview here (lol). Also note - these will NOT work with straight lug heads! One plug on my car backs righ into the header - these are coming off ASAP.
