Strength:
Ceramic coated, equal length shorties are extremely durable and pickup torque and horsepower in the midrange and top-end of the powerband.
Weakness:
Poor fit results in tube rubbing steering driveshaft, resulting in considerable vibration transmitted to the steering wheel. On passenger side, tubes are so fat that custom fabrication of brackets are required to prevent the tubes from burning holes through smog equipment plumbing. While the product enhances power production and aesthetic appeal, installation and usage is not quite user friendly. Similar Products Used: Hedman headers; similar types of problems though. |

Strength:
Ease of install on this particular vehicle. No clearance problems or modifications needed. Noticeable improvement in h/p and performance.
Weakness:
none for the money! Easy to install on this vehicle with no mods needed. Nice throaty tone and performance improvement for the money. Similar Products Used: Comparable to nickle headers used on previous '89 Bronco 5.0, not as nice as the more expensive header, but that's just it - not as expensive - so you don't pay for the looks of nickel or stainless. |

Weakness:
These are the worst headers I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The build is very poor, rough welds, even cracked through the flange in places. Unexcuseable is the fact that nothing really fits, pipe rubs on everything , frame, firewall and even the spark plugs and wires dont have enough clearance. I had to take the spark plug boots off and use distributor boots to make them clear, and you cant remove the spark plugs on some of the cylinders. I wouldnt have used them at all if they hadnt been such a pain to put on in the first place. Even though these are cheap I would not recommend that anyone waste their time trying to make them work. I am in the process of getting rid of them now. The poor fit and quality of these headers should take them off anyone's buying list. I did contact Flowtech about this problem and they did say there was a warranty, but who is really going to take back a set of headers that have been used, and then take a chance of putting the same kind right back on? It wont be me. Similar Products Used: They compare poorly to any header made |

Strength:
Nice construction, hp and torque gains, smog legal in CA
Weakness:
Nothing for the price They really picked up the torque on my TBI 350 over about 2000 rpm. Helps to cancel out the drag from 33 inch tires. They are really working well with the Dynomax cat and Flowmaster 40 muffler. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Noticeable gains in torgue and performance with header only change over. Car runs cooler and noticed increased mileage. They were also the least expensive. The collector is close to the floor so that they don't bottom out easily.
Weakness:
This was a near universal application claiming to fit '64-77 Chevy small block all passenger cars. They rub on the starter and the frame on the passenger side, and I had to remove a frame brace to make them fit on the drivers side. They will not slip in. I had to remove the motor mount bolts and jack up the motor and remove the starter and frame brace to install them. I had to get right angle wires and shorty spark plugs as the tubes run in front of the spark plug holes and a regular length plug will not allow you enough space to install standard wires. I had to grind down the lip on the header bolts so that the header bolt hole would line up without the head of the header bolt rubbing the header tube. Chevy heads have rectangle ports and these headers are round port. All you can do is use the round port gaskets on the rectangle port heads. I would not recommend buying these headers if you own a 1973-77 Chevelle/Laguna/Malibu/El Camino with a small block. The hassle in installing them and the poor fit do not overcome the cost/performance advantage. Their own web site indicates that you might experience problems with obstructions on certain applications. The listed cure is to buy their "shorty" headers as they may provide better performance and generally have less problems with clearance. As far as I am concerned this is not an adequate response.
