Strength:

loud, powerful, and making a 4 cyl. sound really good. Flowmaster tone not rice rocket tone. It actually sounds like a TRUCK now not an import pick-up

Weakness:

none

i drive a 2.3 L mazda b2300 pick-up truck and I bought the delta flow 40 series and a tip and it sounds great nice deep tone when staying under 3000 rpm's and when u get on it it has an aggressive tone over 4000 rpm's loud on the outside and and quite on the inside unless the windows r down. Makes my truck a little quicker too. The Best $180 ever spent I love it and so does everyone else I pass.

I was originally going to go with Delta 50 series. (I am 38 and was wondering if this is for me) Glad I didnt. Awesome mufflers-not real loud but not real quite either. Just right! Highly recommend the 40 series!

Loud rumble on start-up and very deep and throaty on acceleration. Far from the ricer, coffee can exhaust that sounds like a weed-whacker...

Weakness:

None

Found an excellent deal on Ebay for the Flowmaster Super 40 muffler. Since my Jeep is highly modified for performance, a higher flowing, better sounding muffler was needed. Previously before I installed the Flowmaster 40, my Jeep was equipped with a Gibson muffler (Gibson CatBack Exhuast), but lacked the deep, throaty, rumble that I hoped for. The Flowmaster 40 did just that for me and it brings a smile to my face everytime I drive. Many positive compliments from drivers all around!

Strength:

Big improvement over stock muffler in sound, slight HP increase.

Weakness:

Resonates a little too much in the cab for my liking, maybe I'm getting old. At 70mph it's around 1,850 rmps and resonates the worst there.

Sure did make a major improvement over stock. Had a 3" in, dual 2 1/2" out installed. Thought it sounded kinda funny (like a tin can) at first, mellowed out after time. Really sings when rpm's get up over 3,000.

Low-cost, high-flow muffler

Weakness:

Might want to consider taking the resonator off for higher flow and sound

I bought this flowmaster 40 muffler off of ebay. My model was made for a Mustang but I installed it anyway. I bought it for $51.50 shipped. I went to a local muffler show and had a custom rear section made. I thought about taking off the resonator but I didn't want it to be too loud or ricey. It is kinda quiet and has a deep tone.

Model Reviewed: 40 Series Deltaflows on a '99 Ford Taurus

Strength:

Very nice sound for a V6. Not too expensive. Stainless steel. Flowmaster the best all around for sound. Noticeable gas milage increase.

Weakness:

Depending on the vehicle, can be too loud. They are heavy. Not the best looking muffler out there.

I was looking for an aftermarket muffler for my Taurus that would be just a bit louder than stock. Did some research on all the performance mufflers out there. I bought the 40 Series Deltaflows from Jeg's and 2 stainless oval tips from the muffler shop that installed them. I was a little worried that they were going to be too loud as I have never heard them on a V6 before. Well, a ssoon as they were finished w/all the welding and told me to pull it off of the ramps, I fired it up and just coudn't stop smiling! It has the perfect sound! It has very minimal interior resonance. What little bit it does is very pleasant to hear. Exterior sound is very healthy sounding. It gives my Taurus a whole new personality. The DOHC V6 really likes to rev and now it does it easier. I tested the car on the highway before the mufflers and netted a best of 27mpg. After the 40 Series Deltaflows were on it, it went to 30mpg. This was on a full tank of gas and going 100 miles in a full circle @ 65mph. Nice product for sound. I do plan on geting rid of the stock resonator and upgrading the pipe size to 2 1/2" out to 2 1/4" dual mufflers. Stock is 2" single to 1 7/8" dual mufflers. I think I am going to get Magnaflow stainless universal mufflers to replace these when I upgrade the pipe. It will definately be too loud then! Hopefully, if my guess is right like it was this time, it will still be about the same loud wise.

Strength:

-Powerful sound -Very Loud -Improved MPG -Improved Torque -Improved Horse Power -Improved everything! Awesome on a Big Block Car with a nice cam.

Weakness:

none at all. Only one, these are NOT for use on Small blocks. And if you do not have a Camshaft do not bother.

wow is all I can say. These suckers are LOUD. There is nothing on the market that is better then the Super series 40. I have these on a built up 400 CI Pontiac Formula 400 Firebird, with 3 inch exhaust, and with my camshaft, it helps bring these to life. Very loud. I noticed a huge gain off the bat in acceloration, hp, torque, and gas mileage. If you want a Loud, agressive sound that you will hear from a block or so away, these are what you want. At idol It will set off car alarms, when I drive by anyplace I get looks. Very nice mufflers, nice built. Gota reccomend these, the best out there.

Strength:

Sounds strong. Appears to have bigger stones than before. Looks good. Saves weight. Better mileage (can't tell just how much yet).

Weakness:

None that I've seen.

Took a chance by picking the Flowmaster 40 Delta muffler over a Borla system designed for my new 4Runner, and I done good by that! I love this muffler. The sound is right on, especially at low to mid RPMs. At full throttle, this single muffler makes my V6 sound like a big V8 charging like a bull. I probably paid a little too much, considering that I got the chrome and just one $50 muffler, but hey, they gotta make a living I suppose. Only thing I would've done differently is added a stainless tip. I know I'll have to replace the tip in a year or two and that will cost another $100 or so. I didn't opt for the dual pipes, although this truck easily allows for it, as long as the pipes come out together on the right side. Too much towing gear and spare tire assembly stuff to run it out on the left. Dual exhaust would not be good on this truck with this muffler because of the lack of back pressure it would create.

Model Reviewed: Flowmaster 40 Delta

Strength:

Sounds clean and strong. Purrs like a lion at idle. Builds a strong, even roar as you accelorate. And hollars, "get the hell out of the way" at full throttle. Plenty quiet for soccer moms putzing around town, in my opinion. That's another reason not to get dual exhaust on this truck, although it would sound phenominal for a guy desiring stereo manly recognition. Great price. Solid product. Not a cheap, raspy sound.

Weakness:

Don't know of any.

I just put a single Flowmaster 40 Delta muffler on my 2004 4WD V6 4Runner and it made all the difference! It looks, sounds, and feels great. I considered buying the Borla Catback System for around $1000, but opted for this less expensive choice and am very happy at the tone and seemingly more powerful effect it has made. The new 4Runner only has room for dual exhaust if you run the mufflers and pipes side by side on the right of the truck. The OEM pipe is 2.25" and my tech welded that into a 3" chrome tip. My only regret is that I didn't pay $60 more ($90) for the stainless steel to avoid future problems. But that's just a cosmetic tip.
