Flowtech Terminator Muffler Mufflers

Flowtech Terminator Muffler Mufflers

DESCRIPTION

The TERMINATOR features the most AWESOME SOUND in the industry. A small block Chevy or 5.0L Mustang motor actually has that unique BARK associated with a quick crack of the throttle. The sound of the TERMINATOR can only be described as AWESOME. The TERMINATOR is constructed entirely of suoer thick aluminized steel and features inner pass tubes so big that you will have to keep your pets away from it. And yes, it is FULLY WELDED inside and out.

Strength:

Good qualitu for price paid, sound different than other affordable performance muffler

Weakness:

3" internal tubing and 2½ o.d is too large for a V6, they sould make it available in 2 or 2¼ size with 2.5" internal tubing

I wanted a deep and loud sound for my 3.1 V6, and the terminator give me all that. the smallest size it a bit large for a V6, but on the other way it make a louder sound. no way comparable with a raptor wich is the entry-level flowtech muffler, it is way louder and way deep, it have a very low tone

Similar Products Used:

cherrybomb: the bomb is a bit louder, and the soud is less deep
raptor: even with no cat it is not loud at all, sound's not as deep, and seems to have much more back pressure

Strength:

The terminators are well built, make your vehicle sound like a late model, and increase horse power which is what really counts.

Weakness:

They're heavy, and they take forever to break in if you put them on a 4-6-or small 8 cylinder engine.

I put these on my 79' truck and it sounded like it did with the stock muffler at idle, but it sounded like a late model when I cracked the throttle open. My friend loved the sound of them so much we put them on his 67' classic mustang with a built 289. I also put them on my 89' 5.0 and the sound is awsome (I have a 2.5 inch flowtech h-pipe and flowtech headers which could also contribute to the sound), but the main reason I bought them is so that I had a sound other than flowmaster not that they don't sound great but everyone has them, I like to think outside of the box. My truck was stock and it took two weeks for the 400ci to break them in. the 67' mustangs terminators started to change tone immediatly but are still currently breaking in after two weeks. So if you buy these heavy assed mufflers don't expect them to give you their magic throttle crack right after they're installed, give them some break in time.

thrush california bosses are good after they blow out but their pretty much junk after the fiberglass packing startes to blow out the tail pipe. Flow masters are sweet but they give a low drone sound rather than a sound thats simalar to what the police dream of hearing coming down the street toward them.

Model Reviewed: 1997 Honda Accord EX

Strength:

deep tone, loud sound, added horses

Weakness:

Hard to install. DO NOT USE A CLAMP. I tried. It cause exhaust leakage.

It gives a very deep tone loud powerful sound. It added noticable horse power to my Accord compared to the twin pipe stock exhaust I had in it. It is small and would fit perfectly on Accords, Civics, Preludes and Del Sols. It's a bad ass exhaust for the price. I would recommend this even just for the sound for the price. Regularly retails for $50 but i got it for 32.75 not including tax since i had a 35% discount.

GReddy exhaust system. It gave a similar tone if you add a Racing Tip.

Strength:

Price, Tone, Power

Weakness:

None

I put this on a 91 Camaro with a 305 and saw immediate improvement in throttle response and power, especially at top end. Not to mention my gas mileage is still improving as the computer gets used to the extra flow. The sound out the back is amazing, I love that raw power sound. Use this "muffler" with a K&N air filter and wow you will see a big difference.

Buy this if you like the race car, youll get it. I did the work myself and was on a budget, the whole package (muffler, tailpipes and tips) only ran about 120.00.

If you want quiet though go somewhere else.

Strength:

The sound is AWESOME!!! I run a 9.4-1 355 sbc w/vortec heads, performer rpm intake, 224/230 @.050 cam w/.477/.480 lift, Flowtech headers, dual 2 1/4" pipes, 2 1/4" in/out Terminators, 600 edelbrock carb, 14"x4" K&N filter, and a Summit hi-po HEI. I also have 4" megaphones which make it sound even better. These are definately an attention getter...with my lopey idle they sound great (and fairly loud), nice, moderately loud cruise, and wicked sound at WOT...sounds unlike anything else out there that I've ever heard. And they don't resonate like flowmasters. Heavy, bullet-proof construction and no change in sound quality after 2 years.

Weakness:

Might be hard to install these under a car...they are big mufflers! Price is a little more expensive than most mufflers but the sound and quality are worth it. Also, they aren't as deep sounding as flowmasters...I added the 4" megaphones which definately adds a deeper tone...but it also makes them quite a bit louder.

I gave $57 a piece for these at a local speed shop...customer bent aluminized 2 1/4" pipes and megaphones cost $125...definately worth the money. I also ran these on a stock 460 ford in a truck with manifolds, a performer intake, and a 750 holley and a stock cam. They sounded much better than stock but were too quiet...the bigger the cam the better these things sound.

Similar Products Used:

Thrush california turbo's and Flowmaster 40 series. I didn't like the sound of the thrush's...sounded ok at idle but sounded choked up above 2k rpm...and they were too quiet. Flowmasters resonated horribly in my truck...sounded real good but the resonance was so irritating that I finally removed them. This was with full length tailpipes exiting behind the rear wheels.
