Strength:

Looks awesome, sound level is just above stock, improved HP on the go, wont buy another muffler other than Magnaflow; by far, EXCELLENT!

Weakness:

Weaknesses? Unlike some of these other negative reviews, I haven't found any. Take it from me; a real street racer =).

I've bought a few mufflers in my days and not more than 6 months ago I bought an OBX muffler, I think it was a baby bomber muffler. I bought it thinking it looked cool, boy was I wrong. It cost me a ticket Good performance though, but way too loud. It was cheap and I was toocheap to buy the Magnaflow muffler from the same shop. After about a month now, the Magnaflow muffler proved over-and-above what I had expected. It's the Magnaflow Street Series, the 14821. The shop where I had it installed said, 'that's a really great muffler, I recommend that one for sound (above all), looks and performance.' I love it, I can drive faster than my previous mufflers and still not make a dent in noise pollution. Noise level is slightly (if you can call it that) over stock. I've had quicker throttle response versus the other mufflers I've had, and consequently; be getting another one soon, within this month maybe. I've been wanting a dual setup for the longest time and now with these Magnaflows that is possible now. My car will look awesome with two SHINY Magnaflows on the rear of my [yes a] Dodge Neon.

Strength:

- VERY noticable HP gains (15-20) - Big jump in low-end torque - Quiet when you don't wanna race - Loud when you do! - High quality build

Weakness:

- Miss that big block rumble from the Flowmasters that use to set of alarms on ricers!

After owning a single outlet 2 1/4" Flowmaster 40 Delta series, I will have to say that the Magnaflow has the performance curve! I got the Magnaflow dual outlet (Part # 12368) along with the dual 4" chrome tips out the back, and although the Flowmaster DID have the meanest and loudest "Bad ass V8 sound," the Magnaflows are a nice little change of pace. I can actually hear myself think inside the truck now! But don't get me wrong...the Magna's are alot quieter @ idle and just normal driving, but when those dual butterflys open up inside the throttle body (flooring it, for you dumb people), that's when the Magna's REALLY begin to sing. Under most / full throttle, they get that mean V8 sound to 'em, which is kinda nice. That way you only get the sound when your street draggin'!

- OEM muffler (no) - Flowmaster 40 Delta Series (Nice, but no HP gains)

Model Reviewed: Magnaflow 12266 on 88 Z-28

Strength:

Not too loud at idle or under low to moderate engine loading, so it won't attract cops or annoy neighbors. No nasty interior resonance, you can hear the stereo and converse. BARKS LOUD at full throttle acceleration and above about 3000 RPM, when you want it to be loud. Straight-thru design for low backpressure. Solid construction, lifetime warranty.

Weakness:

None. Perhaps a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

My stock muffler and tailpipes finally rusted through, so it was time to replace. I decided I wanted a low restriction muffler, after all, it is for a Z-28. I looked at the Flowmaster 80 series, but decided against because they looked to be a little flimsy, and every review said they were loud as hell at all times. Two muffler shops I visited recommended the Magnaflow over anything else. It appears to be well made using quality materials and workmanship, and the straight-thru design insures low backpressure. It is loud, but only when it needs to be, not all the time. Idle is no louder than stock. The car seems to be getting a bit better gas mileage, and the engine seems to pull stronger under hard acceleration. I am very pleased with the muffler, and would recommend it, if it's characteristics as described are what you are looking for.

Powerful sound, smoother acceleration, lifetime warranty and never sounds like a swarm of pissed off bees.

Weakness:

none yet

I bought the 4" round 2.5" in/out stainless muffler. My brother gave me a Pilot stainless tip which looks really nice. It cost $20.00 to have it installed and as soon as I cranked it up I fell in love. The sounds is extremely smooth and deep at idle and very powerful under acceleration. It never gets raspy or buzzy sounding either. It keeps a good smooth tone through all the rpm's; never dies out. Its a little loud on the inside at certain rpm's but overall not too bad.I can tell a difference in the power but mainly at upper rpm's. I would definitely recommend this muffler to anyone who doesn't want to pay a fortune and wants a good clean sound.

I've used flowmaster and hooker mufflers on another vehicle. The magnaflow is much better than flowmaster. The hooker mufflers had a lot more mellow sound but they do perform well.I still recommend ma

sounds terrible compared to a borla. borla is even quiter at low rpms.

I have had several borla exhaust systems on a couple of camaro''s. i loved the deep throaty sound. however, when i purchased my axiom i just wanted performance without all the sound. so i found out about magnaflow. performance is great but the sound is really raspy, and annoying

Great sound, goes out of the tips, not inside the car. Good increase in power. Life-time warrenty. Sweet!

Weakness:

Overall this muffler is the fire. The idle and acceleration are very deep and rich sounds, blows away those crappy import coffee-can mufflers. The sound is not obnoxiously loud, but pretty noticable. You can also really notice the increase in horsepower, and the release of back-pressure. I love it and wouldn''''''''t trade it for nuthin''''''''.

The first thing u notice is the GREAT deep, rich, throaty sound. Then u notice the change in power and less back-pressure. Sweet muffler.

Weakness:

No weaknesses what-so-ever. Except i still can''t go from 0-60 in 2 seconds.(haha)

I just got my Magnaflow Muffler about 1 week ago, and it is the best thing ill ever get for my car. Its sound is great. At idle, the sound is very rich, deep, and high-quality sound. Increase in Horsepower is pretty noticable too. All around awesome muffler. Beats the sh*t out of those coffee-can jap-trap mufflers.

I had recently purchased this universal fit N1 style Magnaflow after several months of searching for the right quality, sounds, function and price muffler. Let me tell you, I found it. It''s perfect for my needs interm of sounds, quality and slight hp increase. For sounds, it was deep and pleasant and not noisy at all for my taste. High...high stainless steel welding quality. As I said, it had some HP increase, that what I had expected for just a muffler increase

I HAVE THE 21/2 INCH S/S MUFFLERS, WITH HEDDMAN HEADERS, 3 INCH X PIPE, AND 2 1/2 INCH TORQUE TECH TAILPIPES. THE CAR SOUNDS GREAT, THEY LOOK AWESOME, THEY ARE LOUD WHEN YOU WANT THEM TO BE LOUD. I BOUGHT FLOWMASTERS BUT RETURNED THEM AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY EXHAUST GUY. FLOWMASTERS SOUND GREAT BUT THEIR DESIGN SUCKS, TOO MANY BAFFLES AND DEFLECTORS FOR THE EXHAUST GAS TO BOUNCE OFF OF. I WANTED SOMETHING THAT FLOWS GOOD AND SOUNDS GOOD. JUST BECAUSE ITS LOUD DOESNT MEAN ITS FAST. THESE MUFFLERS HAVE A STRAIGHT THRU DESIGN, FULLY WELDED AND STAINLESS.

Strength:

Price, quality and sound. Also seems like MPG is improved. Will have to check it a couple more tanks to determine accuracy.

Weakness:

None that I can tell so far.

I purchased the 5" x 8" 2-1/2" Single 2-1/4" Dual Universal Fit Magna Flow muffler, model 12266 for my Z-28. I also had Dave from Tri-Valley Mufflers (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) order custom chrome Z-28 tips. He raised the tips and pulled them out so you can see them (looks kick-a**!!) I almost bought the Flowmaster 80 Series for my Camaro, but after reading the reviews on this site and speaking to a dude at the muffler shop whose friend had the flows, I decided to go with the Magna Flow. This was a good decision, as the kid at the shop said his friend's Camaro was pretty loud. I really like the sound at start up and when your're gunning it. At idle, it has a nice mellow rumble. At freeway or cruising speeds, I can hardly hear it (unless I floor it). It seems to open up my system a bit, as I have a K&N air filter and a SS Ram Air hood from RK Sport.

Similar Products Used:

Stock. This product is much better because it produces all of the attributes in the stock muffler that I really liked (such as the sound at idle and throttle), but only makes them sound all the better.
