I dont know. I cant install the product without since my parts arent here yet....2 months later.

Weakness:

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS JUNK !!! Powerdyne owner...PLEASE FIRE YOUR STAFF OR PUT A BOOT IN THEIR A** AND INFORM THEM THAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE ACTUALLY BRINGS IN CUSTOMERS.

This initial review is strictly for the CRAP customer service at Powerdyne. My mission is to get there customer service department written up by the Better Business Bureau. First off, it took a month to get my kit in the mail. When I got the kit, the box was packed carelessly. Second, it didnt come with the tuner...although I filled out tuning sheets a month earlier. I found out I had to fill out new tuning sheets and send them to Powerdyne. Then, I was told wait another two weeks for delivery of the tuner. Well, it has been 3 weeks and no tuner. I was told it HAD SHIPPED three times, only to find out it had NOT. Moving on to the instruction manual. Well, it IS NOT a DETAILED manual AT ALL. First off, there is nto one page on how to change out your fuel injectors, yet, they send you new injectors AND clips for the kit. Second, it says a Diablo tuner comes with the kit. Well, in the manual it says SUPERCHIPS tuner will accompany the kit, then in the picture they show a guy installing a JET CHIP into the PCM. Third, you DO NOT get an air intake kit. You have to re-use your stock air box and tubing and all you get is a high flow air filter (Yes, thats right, just a filter). As of now, I havent even installed the kit yet because the customer service department are bunch of careless people. I paid my 2670.00 2 months ago and it took them a month after that to get me my kit. 3 weeks later I might see my tuner. plus, when I call, they act as if I need to just be patient and as if I have bothered them with my inquiry to where my product is. I explained to this "you know what" that I paid 2670.00 CASH for this product and I havent heard one word on where it is or when it will be here. It was bad enough that Proficient Performance had to drop ship it directly to Powerdyne. Let me say that Proficient Performance has outstanding customer service and they have tirelessly worked with me to get my kit. The Powerdyne kit from what i have heard is a decent product as of late. they have had issues in the past, but others have had good success with the new F-150's. However, the power is moderate at best (60 rwhp increase in a recent magazine article on a new 5.4L 3 V F150). The re-routed intake design is beyond lazy and the turn around time to get the kit is months. Powerdyne staff shoudl be FIRED, reported to the BBB and new competent staff should be brought in.

Strength:

Great performance increase. Super clean install, due to no oil lines.

Weakness:

No weaknesses for the actual product itself. But, the instructions need to be revised.

Recently installed a Powerdyne BD11a in my Factory Five 1965 Cobra (see it at mykobra.com). I have a Ford 302 motor so I ordered a 9psi 86-93 Ford Mustang kit. The kit was totally complete, looks very well built, and is a high quality product. Installation was a breeze even though the instructions definetly could use some work & pics. The performance increase is amazing. I drove the car for about a year naturally aspirated and now it feels like a totally different animal. I am very pleased with this blower.

Strength:

Great performance gains, easy to install, very queit, and I didn't pay $4000 for a ProCharger.

Weakness:

Took a little longer than I wanted to get my programmer, and the instructions could use a good rewrite.

I recently installed my Powerdyne supercharger on my 2005 F-150 truck. Talk about a difference. The installation was easy enough, I just had to wait for my programmer. Maybe I should have filled our their tuning sheet first? Hah, live and learn. It took me about a full day to instal it, if the instructions were a little more detailed, I probably could have done it a little quicker. I noticed a difference in power right from the start, and all the way thru the RPM band. It's nice and quiet, and didn't effect the way my engine ran in any way, except it gets alot more power now, and my boat doesn't seem anywhere near as big anymore when I tow it. I have already recommended this to my friends with similar trucks, and after riding in my truck, I don't think I'll be the only guy with one that I know.

Strength:

Easy installation. No oil lines to tap which makes it a cool running unit. Boost comes up immediately at the bottom end when you nail it.

Weakness:

Poor instruction.

People tend to forget that Powerdyne is for street application and not for racing. For racing XB-1a would be a better choice. I've had my BD-11a Powerdyne for over 7 years now and it's been great. The install wasn't so bad. I only needed help with the fuel line, boost retardant switch and gauges. Everything else was straight forward. The Power is awesome. I tend to take it off sometimes when it's time for smog and yes, there's a big difference between a boosted and an NA car. It makes great bottom end boost. I plan going all the way up to 12 psi with the upgraded bearings and belt. Currently I'm running 7-8 psi. People say it's unreliable, knock on wood. I went 6 years straight without any problems. I only had it rebuilt so I could get the upgraded bearings and kevlar sprayed belt. It runs even better now. I know it's doesn't have the performance potential of an ATI. But people at www.superchargeronline.com have complained about ATI's reliability and it's rebuilding more so than Powerdyne. There was so much complain that ATI took itself out and is no longer a sponsor for that site. All in all, I'm very please with it. And I have no complain. It's the coolest (temp) running supercharger out there. Which explains for not having an intercooler (I will have Water/Alcohol Injection soon) and it makes awesome power.

Vortech on my uncle's 93 vette. Since it uses an oil line. It gets really hot. Boost is probably not as efficient as Powerdyne's.

Strength:

It's reall helped my engine's power output

Weakness:

The photos in the instruction manual are really lacking. Can't hardly tell what your looking at;

I installed this unit on my 99 S-10 Xtreme in 7 hrs. mostly myself with a couple of guys around to lend an extra hand now and then. The kit was complete. I did hsve to change out the acc. belt for a 1/2" longer one. I have no boost gauge but I can now smoke that 10" right rear tire anytime,(I need a posi. unit now) and the power from 30 to 80 mph. is much improved over stock, I am now able to pass on a two lane road with ease, no more drama there. I also installed a program fropm HyperTech and the combination is really great Don't get me wrong now it's not a Cobra but that little S-10 can really move away from a stop light with some class now. I think a s/charger is the better choise than a V8 over the front axel as I did buy the truck for it's handling which is great. I've only had it for about a month and I am pleased with the product,

Strength:

The only one they get here is the power they claim was there. I gained 8 tenths just from the blower. almost forgot, I have the bd-600, but it is stamped the bd-11a. When brought up to customer service the response was "the person that was in charge of stamping the plates on the chargers just didn't care". So who is to say the tech's don't care when they fix the chargers? Or that customer service even cares when they piss people off?

Weakness:

customer service is terrible, the directions are terrible, the warranty work is terrible, the parts they use are terrible even though they claimed that if there is a better part they would use it. But I know that is not true because I think powerdyne is is focused on using parts that fail in a given amount of time so they can make money by doing repairs, then not fix it right so it can be done all over again. When they charge you I think it's $100 just to take it apart and look at it! I took mine apart in 30 minutes in my living room while watching tv!

Save your cash and buy a better setup. The directions are terrible. A good example is tightening the bolts they say "nice and tight". What kind of garbage is that? Not to mention the grade 5 bolts that came with the kit, one ended up breaking in the head, and the belt kept it from comming out so I didn't see it right away and the bearings ended up failing. At that time it was under warranty and it was fixed for free. When I got the blower back just by turning the pulley by hand I could tell some bearings are still bad(I could hear clicking when I turned it). I got the head fixed and I put it on to see what would happen, and it lasted about six days. So it was then sent in again and fixed under warranty, and powerdyne started to insist I had a different pulley on it. So when I got it back the second time they had some sort of glue type stuff on the pulley(so if I took off the pulley the glue would be gone). Well then 11 months later the bearings failed again, this time it is now out of warranty, powerdyne wants $200-$500 to fix it. So I found bearings that would work and did it myself, replacing all 4 bearings for under $200. I also found out in my search for bearings that the ceramic bearings are good for high rpm and run cool, but the downside is that they cannot handle load(which the internal belt creates). So why does powerdyne use those? Also found out the the larger bearings for the pulley shaft are not even ceramic, only the impeller bearings are ceramic! The unfortunate part is when I took it apart they had tons of permanent locktight on the inner bearings because they fit so loose. And when we put it back together we did not put enough bearing seater on those inner bearings and the inner impeller bearing fell apart, and the impeller is now a little scared and don't think it can be re-used. Before the blower seized it was hitting 8.5 psi, and the kit is only a 7psi. I would not recomend anyone to buy powerdyne. I would give them two stars for each rating if the customer service is there, and if I knew the tech's doiung repairs are competent.

Non-intercooled, internal belt, ceramic bearings, Terrible customer service. Sent letter to BBB.

Cheap initial cost, but expect many problems over a gear driven blower. Blower has been rebuilt 4 times now and usually lasts 3-6k miles each time. Vortech and ATI are better quality units with better reliability and warrantees.

Strength:

Only at sea level a noticable increase in power. No oil lines.

Weakness:

Where to begin??? Low boost levels. Cog belt needs replacing every 50,000 miles. Bearings suck. Not adjustable for altitude. CAN NOT be upgraded. ONLY Powerdyne can repair it so you have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping and there is no sense of urgency in their turn around time. Intercooling can result in even lower boost levels.

I bought this piece of crap for a 2000 Chevy Xtreme and when my mechanic put it on and installed a boost gauge it made a whopping 3lbs. of boost with a 7lb. pulley! I upgraded the pulley to a 9lb. and the result was 5lbs. (At altitude). You could feel a little bit of power but a power starved 4.3L Vortech motor can safely handle around 12lbs. of boost,so you can imagine the disappointment. I called them and the tech, who spends more time answering phones than doing his job, said there are no upgrades for it and an intercooler would actually hurt it rather than help. Anyways it was fine for about 2 years and then I hit 50,000 miles and the internal cog belt grenaded. My mechanic, (Who is a certified Aircraft technician and rebuilds jet turbos),was not allowed to purchase the replacement belt from Powerdyne and fix it himself. That is why PD Superchargers are so cheap the money you pay for it VS. its competetors is made up later on with their monopoly on repairing it and you -WILL- be repairing it!!! After receiving it he wanted $750.00 to repair the bearings and install a new belt. I paid him and- 2 MONTHS LATER- finally received my charger back. After it was re-installed it sounded like a duck being tortured! My mechanic took it off and inspected it only to find out that the gears were grinding in the supercharger casing. I KNOW the tech reassembled it half-assed because I threatened to speak to his manager about the drawn out turn around time. Needless to say I will NEVER buy anything from Powerdyne again!!!

I purchased this powerdyne setup from ebay over a year ago it was set up for 11 pounds of boost and was in nasty condition on the out side but the impellar was in nice condition I installed it and found out that the kit must have come off a wreked car because the lower crank pulley was bent so I had to purchase a new one from powerdyne and it took three weeks to get. I now found out that www.aspracing.com sells complete pulley kits for powerdyne chargers and they are 5 pounds lighter wish I would have known that earlier. but any way I got the whole thing set up and about a week after I installed it a bearing went bad in it I said the hell with it and I am still driving it with the bad bearing and it runs mint just alittle noisey and still puts out around 10 to 12 psi so I have no complaints
