I was involved in a head-on collision with someone insured with Coast National Insurance and, I'm writing in defense of Coast National. I was insured with AAA at that time and, Coast National is liable for the damages I incurred. Anyway, the other party added at least one other person to the car after the collision and; the driver of the vehicle claims he was not really driving the vehicle; he was the driver! Anyway, given the inconsistent actions and statements of the at fault party, Coast National is caught in a tough situation. I can honestly say that Coast National has worked hard to resolve this incident. It's been 680+ days since the Date of Loss and the court date is scheduled for next month - ONLY BECAUSE Coast National has problems with their insured and the passengers of the vehicle he was operating. My Advise: SIMPLE - Tell the truth even if you are at fault; you will speed up the follow-on processes. Coast National have GOOD Investigators and they will get to the TRUTH. It may take years, but they are GOOD. When you lie, you run the risk of voiding your insurance policy and YOU will be financial responsible for ALL Damages and COSTS. Telling a lie is not worth the hassle. Oh, I've been without transportation because the at fault driver lied.

COAST NATIONAL INSURANCE (BRISTOL) CO. BEWARE if you get hit by an insured driver with this company. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone there. They also have not returned any messages left by my insurance carrier nor to Hertz Rent-a-Car whose vehicle their insured was driving! It is a good idea to seek an attorney and notify the Dept. of Insurance immediately if you have a similar experience.

Coast National Insurance Co...They only want your money, any way, they charge you money if you cancel your policy, they like to put more cars on your policy, they do change your home addres with out your permission, they charge you money for nothing, and threat you to make a report report to National Credit Reporting agencies, if you don't pay, I suggest to avery one, go against this anfair company, and report it at Better Business Bureau, this is the worst Insurance Co. "Don't buy any policy from this Company"

Strength:

they shuffle papers well

Weakness:

they lie, they low-ball you, they don't answer their phones, they hang up on you, and they keep writing car insurance!

The first auto appraiser didn't know the difference between low-profile tires and regular tires, 9/32" and 5/32" tread, broken windows and California kit windows, water-cooled and air-cooled engines, and dry pavement and pavement with auto fluids on it. He also added 100,000 miles to the actual odometer reading. They give comp car values 1,000 and 2,000 miles away from where you live. They low-ball you on your car value. They fight against paying for actual expenses you incur trying to prove to them that their appraiser is lying and that you are telling the truth. They try to starve you to death by not paying ANY medical expenses until you are ready to sign off the claim. Too bad if you can't work and too bad if you don't have your own health insurance. (By the way, they either tell you they will be paying the bills or they let you believe that they will BUT THEY DON'T.) They tell you that you should have gone back to work EVEN IF your employer sends you home until you are back to full physical strength. They try to tell you that you can do your job with one hand although your employer says you can't. They review and review and review all the things you have reviewed before. They hang up on you. They call you "Miss" when you are a "Mr." They try to trick your employer into saying that you were injured prior to the accident by throwing the wrong dates at him. They lie lie lie and accuse you of being a liar. First they say they have something that you sent them then they say they don't. They say they will pay the medical bills "TODAY" and they don't. The list goes on and on. As this is being written it has been 8 months since my son was rear-ended by a Coast National insured. Not one medical bill has been paid. It seems they try to torture you into accepting less. Suggestions: Write down the dates of all phone calls and a brief description of what was said. Record them (let them know you are recording them) if you can when they promise you things. Put as much in writing as you can. Make them put as much in writing as you can get them to do. I worked at Coast National for over 3 years until recently. As an former employee I must tell you that the workers are treated worse than their reviews. They over work you and won't even allow overtime to catch up. So the company line given to us by Management, yes Management was "We know you can't do what the Department of Insurance requires do what you can. See the problem is over about two years ago an overtime class action suit was filed by former employees because so many were working 50 or more hours just to keep up, the judgement was over 40 million for the class and so no more overtime. So no way we could have given you great service when we were over-worked, not like we didn't want to. I feel sorry for anyone putting money into this company, we did violate DOI rules, we were rude to customers, but management basically wanted us to. My advice to anyone with a complaint is to contact Jim Sclafani or Jeff Daley and ask them, how do you treat your employer??? Are they happy? Coast is known as the insurance carrier with the highest turn-over in the business, that should tell you something. I want to apologize on their behalf but the Tom Seedle and Rob Purshan's of the world have turned that company into a joke. But in Coast's defense, they do market to the lowest of the low, people with dui's multiple accidents...So when you do read most of these review about how horrible Coast is (which they are), the insured's driving records are worse. So if you are hit by a Coast insured run for the hills. The old inside joke while I worked there was, GOD if I get hit by a Coast driver, I would either run to attorney or to the DOI (Department of Insurance). So all you Coast insureds, you shouldn't complain about the service, you should be better drivers and you would get treated better!!! Hard to treat someone who hits and runs, has multiple DUI's on their records with great service, when you have dicks for bosses. Advice to anyone having problems with a claim, get an attorney immediately, don't call a supervisor. Jeff Daley and Jim Sclafani are the ring leaders of this joke of a company, they are the ones you should contact and curse out if you have any problems.

Weakness:

Impossible to contact. Premiums 40% over area average. Do not process paperwork honestly or effectively.

Coast National Insurance should be indicted for fraud. I purchased an insurance policy with them when at Carmaxx at LAX (LA area). Realizing they had quoted me 40% over the area average, I cancelled my policy the next day. I have since been told -- 26 days later -- that the cancellation did not go through and I am still responsible for paying the premiums (as well as for paying a $139 "deposit" at time of issue on my credit card). When I tried to contact the agent -- Ervey (no last name) -- who had sold me this plan, I reached only a pager. Though I've paged several times, he still has not returned my calls. Trust me: DO NOT USE COAST NATIONAL INSURANCE. Report them to the Better Business Bureau as I plan to do.

I got in an accident on 11/19/2002 - had my car towed to the auto shop and the auto shop did not receive a quote from Coast until early January and I didn't get my car back until February. I called (I was pretty angry - as expected) and left a message. The lady called back and was VERY rude. I give these guys a big fat ZERO (well, one).

Weakness:

They offered 300 million of stock to the public as of Dec. 17 2003. Bad investment If you ask me.

I was in a accident on Dec. 3rd. 2003 and It is now January 9nth. 2004. I realized very quikly that Bw was not going to treat me fair, right of the bat, so I Hired an attorney. The police report states that the accident was not my fault and she will be sent to the district attorneys office for prosicution. My number one wittness to the accident is a Sherrif that was just about to pull her over for the violations she was committing when she ran into me. They are now tring to say that I am 50% at fault for committing an ilegal u-turn witch is false for i was turning into a parking lot where I had an appointment while she was driving around both lanes of stopped trafic, off the main road, in the bike path when she hit me turning into the parking lot. Don't figure. Needless to say I am unable to keep up with my living expenses not to mention my medical bills, sence I used my truck for my work witch was totaled in the accident. I am getting angry. I will let you know how it turns out if there is ever a settlement. I wish I could get a hold of Catscan who also wrote a review. I think we should go class action.

Everything!

First, I will begin with the insurance company not sending me a letter to renew. I was in an accident one week after my policy expired. The idiot who ran a red light crashed into me. His insurance denied my claim WITHOUT even looking at my car. And since my policy had expired a week before the accident, does that mean I was without insurance at the time of the accident? I was NEVER notified to renew. After the accident, I called Coast National, and NO ONE was helpful. They are all rude and NOT helpful. What the heck do we pay insurance for anyway? All they do is take our money and when we need them most, they turn their backs on us! Something has got to give. Shop around for your insurance.

Coast National Insurance Comapany, is an absolute joke. I would not only give them bad marks for customer service, I also would tell anyone to RUN from them. I got stuck in Washington for over a month, and the value they finally told me my car was worth, was about 2 grand less than blue book. So if you are looking for cheap ass insurance that will screw you over after you have been a loyal customer for years, then they are for you. But if you prefer not to be rectally breached I would reccommend heading elsewhere before they screw you over hard like me .
