I was the victim of a rear-end accident that involved a total of 4 vehicles. I had two passengers with me in the car pool lane on the 605 North freeway. The car pool lane was at a complete stop, I was the third vehicle and a fourth vehicle rear-ended me from behind at full speed, which pushed my vehicle #3 into vehicle #2 and pushed them into vehicle #1. This led to my vehicle being considered totaled. Both I and driver of vehicle #4 had Mercury Insurance. Mercury decided to put both of us at fault to benefit from the raised premiums. They concluded that I was 50% at fault because the rear-end damage of vehicle #2 was high, but did not provide details to the damage cost. They did not make their decision based on all documentation/recorded conversations stating that vehicle #4 was at fault for 100% of the accident as well as the driver of vehicle #4 admitting after the accident that it was his fault and that he was not paying attention. Mercury did not attempt to further investigate the issue at my request, by checking the Engine Control Unit of my vehicle that can indicate that I was at a complete stop until vehicle #4 rear-ended me and created the chain reaction. I then decided to cancel with Mercury for their false allegations, just so that they can not benefit from these false claims. After I cancelled, it delayed the arbitration decision because they realized that they will not benefit from me if they put me at fault. This took 1 year for false claims to be determined.

Ripping you off and taking your money

Weakness:

being a loyal company

Lets start off by saying this. If you are going to buy an extended warranty go buy one from a dealership that makes your car. Because Mercury sucks. I really thought this was a good company until i put in my first claim. How stupid i am, i was telling everybody how good this company was because my credit union offered them as an extended warranty service in addition to my car i was purchasing. Well my credit union is awesome so i thought "Ok, this Mercury insurance group must be good since my credit union cant do no wrong cause they have treated me so good for 16 years and their offering it" WRONG! So i put my claim in for my window motor not working. Well the mechanic called them up and they wanted to send out an inspector to look at the window motor. So he comes out and sees that it isn't working and takes all his pictures and everything. Then he goes over to the motor and starts to beat on it. Well he did get it to start working again but you can tell the motor is struggling to go up and down. So he does his report and tells them that he hit it and it now works fine. Obviously theirs something wrong with the motor and should be fixed. So of course they said they wont fix it. And i said "Why not, what if it happens again? are you gonna send Mr dumb arse out to pound on my motor to get it to work again?" But he said they would fix it if it happens again. So that means i have to waste all this time again to get it fixed when it should have been fixed the first time. But its OK, i had the insurance for about 3 or 4 months and cancelled it and got back $1580 out of $1700. So if you just bought this insurance warranty cancel it before its to late and hit the ground running and get far away. Mercury Insurance Group is not a good warranty company, their more like a charity group. They take your money and you don't get anything back for it.

Everything about them..... their favorite color, their friends, their children, their hair..... these people just suck

I do not know why they pay the people that "work" at Mercury Insurance. The adjustors are VERY rude (Jacqueesha/Janeshia/Jalecia/whatever Mills and Antionette Broome- I know you're not really French LOL!) and they never bother to call you back, even after leaving multiple messages with multiple people. I guess they think that they can ignore people with claims and just hope they go away and don't have to pay for something that the idiot they insure ruined. I happen to like my speedy little European car and I didn't appreciate having to wait two weeks just for Mercury to accept liability for a 4 (yes, 4) car pile-up that some stupid woman caused. I had to provide my body shop with the police report just to get Mercury to accept liability, otherwise they wouldn't have. Also, the supervisor (Sherri Welch), yeah, she leaves work at 3:45 in the afternoon. These people do not live in the real world and they have a hard time relating to those of us who do.

I would never purchase Mercury Insurance myself and I will do my best to discourage anyone I know from doing so. Also, if you get into an accident where someone has Mercury, be prepared to want to rip your hair out.

Weakness:

have found none so far

i own a garage and don't care for most warranty companies. but i have been dealing with this company for about three years now and they have only denied one claim and that was because oil pump screen was sludged up on a turbo audi and customer couldn't supply oil change receipts. the warranty company told me even if they could provide receipts where they bought the oil and filters that would be ok but they couldn't. they refused to pay saturn dealer in qwinnett county ga prices because they said they were to high-called saturn in greenville s.c. same thing-saturn in conyers had the prices mercury said should have been correct and then they ok'd the claim-found out other two dealers marking prices above list and warranty company knew what list was or should have been. they have always ok'd new dealer parts as long as i have part number-price matches and i warranty my repairs for at least a year. never have i had a problem and as i say i don't like warranty companies except this one has always been on the up and up.

Weakness:

Disturbing customer service

Mercury Insurance Company is a bad company to deal with and more of a scam. They do not want to honor any repairs covered on the warranty and if they do, they do not want to pay for all the charges that are included in the repairs. I took my vehicle to the repair facility and they indicated that I had a leak in my oil pan, I needed my brakes worked on and some other stuff that was wrong with the vehicle. I presented the repair notice to the facility and requested them to contact the warranty company and see what they will cover. The company declined every other repair except for the oil pan leak. The repair facility then in turn got in touch with me and informed me what the warranty company had agreed to. I then informed them it's okay and they can go ahead and fix only what the warranty company will cover.
The repair facility gave me a call a couple of hours later and informed me that the job was done and that we could go ahead and pick up the vehicle. When I got to the shop, they said that I had to pay all the charges and will be refunded by the warranty company. I was skeptical from the get go and did not want to risk paying, and not getting my money back. Furthermore, on the repair notice I presented to the repair facility, the company indicates that they deal with the repair facility directly, and not through customer to the repair facility. In the company's contract info, they specify that the only cost that the customer is responsible for is the $50 deductible with any authorized repairs.
I then called the warranty company and informed them of the charges presented to me by the repair facility. They proceeded to ask me to request the repair facility to call them and request the payment from the warranty company (so much for the company dealing directly with the repair facility). The repair facility got in contact with them and the warranty co only remitted partial payment of the work order, stating that they will not cover the extra charges entailed in the work order to fix the oil pan. At the end I had to pay the $50 deductible and some extra charges that the co. did not cover, charges for work performed to fix the oil pan.
After I payed the extra amount, I then proceeded to contact the warranty co, to see if we had some kind of misunderstanding to what is covered and what is not. I then got on the phone with a guy named Andrew, who was very rude and made me feel like I was insured by a fake company. He indicated the company does not cover for shop charges incurred while fixing the oil pan, and also they will not cover for the oil that was changed. I then called the repair facility and asked them why they did an oil change when it was not approved by the company. The repair facility informed me that with Firestone's company policy, when changing out the oil pan, they cannot put back the oil that was there prior to draining. They informed me, for them to be able to work on the oil pan, they have to drain the oil. That is extra work entailed in fixing the oil pan that they declined to cover. When I tried to reason out with the company, informing them that I just did an oil change literally less than a week to this date the guy (Andrew) got so rude with me telling me he does not care, and stated that what was approved is all they are paying for, and anything else, I have to pick it up with the repair facility.( so much for feeling covered.) He then proceeded to put me on speaker phone where his co-workers inclusive were all just laughing on the phone. I then requested to speak to his supervisor and he put me on hold then hung up. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, they do not care about the customer, all the think about is getting your money and not keeping their part of the contract. It's very discouraging that they are a bad reflection to one of the best banks that my wife and I have ever dealt with( University Federal Credit Union.) If you can, please be very careful when dealing with Mercury Insurance Group P.O Box 7828866 Oklahoma City, OK 73172 -8866. I would advise anyone that is looking to purchase their contract to run while they can. I would recommend UFCU to anyone who is looking for a vehicle or home loan anytime, they put the customer first and establish a good relationship. Again, be very aware of the Mercury insurance group.

Wont cover claims

I have had a warning light that shows ABS and traction control inop, took to Jaguar dealer, due to cost of repair they sent an adjuster out to look at car, because the light was not on at that time they denied claim. The dealership ran a diagnostic test on it that shows the system to be inop. Mercury Insurance is making me take my superchared sports car to drive with no ABS because they said they can't see the light on. Once it showed it was erased at dealership. I feel that they are sending me out to drive a car that is not safe.

No customer service at all! No one will awnser the phone. waited 30 minutes to speak to a person.

I purchased a Mercury Extended Warranty Policy, (100,000 miles) from the Credit Union that financed my truck. Mercury Warranty cancelled my policy on the first claim at 40,000 miles. The A/C stopped working, problem with the compressor. The truck is a four wheel drive; I added a level kit on the truck, 2 1/2 inches with 3" taller tire. The inspector that came to the Ford Dealer to inspect the compressor cancelled my policy before even looking at the problem. His reason is because of the tires. No one at Mercury notified me that they had cancelled the policy. The dealer where the repair is to be done notified me after the truck sat there for three day’s. The dealer wanting to know if they should proceed with the repair. This is when I found out my policy was cancelled. The repair cost me $1,274.57. My suggestion is, Stick with the manufacturer extended warranty! These folks are a joke! Here's the real kicker, you can't even get your money back! Your premium is sent back to the financial institution and paid against the principle balance. You’re stuck with the bill! Think twice before dealing with this Company!
