Prices were good when I was young, but didn't get better over the years. Billing department people were friendly.

After turning 25 my rates didn't decrease any. Customer service after an accident was nonexistant.

I started with Progressive when I was 18. It was a good company then, and the rates were pretty good for a young driver. However, as I got older, the rates just kept going up, and I have a clean record. I switched to Travelers (I'm told their prices are higher), and I'm getting the same coverage for about the same money.

I hate the Progressive commercial that shows their adjuster giving someone a ride. I had an accident when a deer ran out in front of my car one evening in the middle of nowhere, GA. I called Progressive, and was offered no assistance whatsoever. (No biggie, I didn't really expect them to come pick me up, but that commercial is a lie!) I had to locate my own tow truck. It took the adjuster 2 days to come look at the car (I live in Atlanta, not the boondocks). He recommended a body shop, which normally leads to a quality repair job. However, the shop did a lousy job, took a month to repair the car, and didn't get the job right, even after I returned three times. I also discovered damage to the underside that the adjuster and shop had missed because they only inspected the upper part of the car. I called the adjuster to look at it again, but he insisted that the damage must have already been there, although it was unmistakeably part of the accident, as there was deer fur wedged in the cracks. I took the car to my own mechanic, and Progressive wouldn't pay for the repairs until after I suggested that I would have my lawyer speak with them.

Other areas of the country might have better service, but Progressive in Atlanta is one company I tell people to stay away from.

I've had progressive insurance now for over 5 years and they are great. Their rates are very competitive and their customer service is excellant. I've been in two accidents and everything was handled very well. No arguing about what parts that could be used or rental cars, etc. This is a very professional company and they appear to be very customer friendly. Highly recommended!

Beware of Progressive!!! The first quote I got from them was great $479 a year (sounds like the hook you price). After 2 years of that yearly premium, they changed their policy and only do 6 month rates. This is my third year with them and I have had no accidents or tickets this year the total for two 6 month premiums....almost $700!!!Over a $200 increase... I call customer service, they would only say that there had been rate increases. I'm over 25 and they want me to pay more now than when I was younger. Later Progressive...I'm definately going with another company.

Horrible, horrible service. Recently my sisters car was involved in an accident (a car hit her and ran, driver wasn't even insured) and Progressive said they were on their way. Two hours later we call and they claim they never even knew they were supposed to come out. They then force us to go to a body shop of their choice which took a month, which once fixed the body shop hit the Probe in the same spot as it had been hit. Progressive finally let us choose our own body shop that used quality parts. In December I got my license and the quote for insuring me was $250 a month and $150 for my car. I have friends who have had accidents who pay less than I do. Last month we switched to Farmers who only charges me 100 a month for me and my car. Progressive blows.
