Strength:

Better mileage, better performance, easy install

Weakness:

A little pricey, but worth it. Units are a little big, but no real bad weaknesses.

I've had this system for a few months now. It works great. I put it on my 97 Dodge Ram 318 and it was easy to install. I've gotten much better mileage on it and more power. I immediately felt the power increase. Before the ignition, I couldn't get my truck to spin tires off tthe line at all, after just the ignition, I can spin em anytime adn now have traction problems at the track which is both a good and bad thing, but mainly shows that it gave me a performance. I would definitely recommend this system to others. I've had no problems wiht it and have washed my truck's engine numerous times. I also had no problems with customer service. With the improved mileage, this unit pays for itself pretty quick.

Strength:

Definitely added power and enhanced starting. Very good ignition system when used to assist with igniting a supercharged mixture. Gained power immediatly. More serious laying of rubber confirmed this. System really perfoms with other brands of leads (like magnecor)

Weakness:

The lead are absolute &^$%^*. I used a fresh set every 2 weeks until I just plain got sick of installing new leads. Never use Jacobs leads. We switched to locally made leads and the systems ie computer and coil really can really do their job. Lifting the hood at night used to reveal a lightning show going on around the leads. ( Must be performed in very dark conditions to be sure )

An excellent computer spark system with the built in vehicle security. Coil can give trouble after a wash but just install it upside down and you will never have any further problem.

Strength:

Unbeleivable product.I gained about 15 horsepower on the dyno I went from 127-141.For a 1.8L engine this is good. The only other upgrade I had was a K&N Air Filter. With the Combo I gained about 8MPG in the city and about 10MPG highway. The best possible ignition made for cars.Easy connections.

Weakness:

The computer box is very bulky and hard ti install and the timing takes for ever to get set right. The most expensice ignition on the market.

I would definitly reccomend this product even if it`s bulky and takes a long time to set the timming. The gains are worth it.

Strength:

Easy install.
Additional 10 RWHP.

Weakness:

Tight fit under the hood. Hard to place coil in a practical location. One of the most expensive ignition systems out there.

I was attracted more to the "extras" that could be purchased to complement the Pro-Street. Dollar spent per HP gained was not my primary motivation. 1/4 mi times indicate about a 10 RWHP gain.

If you are looking for an ignition system that can be expanded and grow with your vehicle, get the Jacobs.

If you are looking for a "magic box" that gives a little more hp go with the MSD, it is much more cost effective.

Strength:

It works, High grade wires that last, Improved gas mileage by 4 miles per gallon. Have had for 5 years, and am still getting the improved gas mileage, and motor runs clean.

Weakness:

Large coil, difficult to place. Created radio noise, but was eliminated with silicone dyelectrical grease, on all points. If unit gets cooled of, takes about 5 minutes until you can start your vehicle. Burns up regular spark plugs within about 10,000 miles, need to use platinum. Found out that when I washed my motor, that the car would sometimes not start until about 5 minutes past. Must have been from rapidly cooling the coil after reaching peak operating temperature. After 4 years, this has been the only reason that this did not work. And it's water tight, so don't worry if washing. Just place computer high so that water from rain can't reach it.

I noticed that someone else said that there was no improvement on their rating. When originally installed, I had a shop change my plugs and put the recommended increase gap on the plugs. About a month and a lot of computing later, I saw no difference, and could not feel any difference with ignition. I started to uninstall the unit when I found one of my plugs loose. Upon further inspection, the shop never put the increased gap in the plugs, or even gaped them at all. All the gaps were off by .020 from stock recommendation. But the car drove exactly the same. My gap was supposed to be .045, but was between .015 to .025 I then put the gap to .060 with the Jacob's. WOW, at first I could not feel any difference until I got in the high RPM, but after checking my mileage after a full tank of gas, 2 miles per gallon increase. After another 3 months, my average increase went from 16 MPG to 20 MPG. I could take longer trips without having to worry about refilling. I even drove from Vegas to South Dakota once, and got 30 MPG in one of the flat states I drove through. Highly recommend if MPG is what you want, but still never really noticed increases in performance, except smoother running motor at high RPMs. Platinum plugs have lasted about 45000 miles so far with no problems.

MSD, and Accel, priced well with complete systems that these two companies make. Accell only helped on my Maxima, with a more powerfull coil, after supercharging. It eliminated a ping that I could get in hot weather. MSD provided me half the power on my mustang, with little gain in mileage, way pricey.

Strength:

Plug wires -seem- well made

Weakness:

Should have known from all the outrageous claims made by Jacobs that this stuff is a sham. Lame customer service. Lotsa BS. The "Free" 90-day trial cost me $60.

I ran this complete system on my cherry 85 Mustang GT for 2 months and was careful to measure fuel economy and performance (Vericom 2000). Bottom line: NO detectable difference from all of the stock ignition components! Returned the car to stock and again, no change. That's a lot of money for nothing.

Later did an MSD ignition coil Alone which made an improvement in cold start driveability.

Strength:

Increased power due to ability to widen sparkplug gap. Slightly better gas mileage. Took plugs out after 15K- gapped at .055". Plugs clean and no deposits. Easy to install.

Weakness:

Some radio noise w/ change in Wires and Cap. Had one unit that blew a Non-replaceable fuse. Jacobs replaced unit for 1/2 price- more than fair.

Replaced for 130$ for new unit. Original cost about $200 in 1994. I'd recommend it. Would like to compare with MSD setup

Model Reviewed: Mileage Master Jacobs Ultra Team

Strength:

Real improvement in fuel burn ~ power ~ throttle response ~ Idle smoothness ~ oil seems to stay cleaner longer ~ has nice LED readout on computer to tell if the system is working properly ~ pretty good instructions.

Weakness:

Expensive accessory but not out of line with other similar units ~ Takes awhile to install ~ can be difficult to find good mounting spots for the coil and computer

I installed this unit on my 1988 F-250 Ford PU. I'd already put a K&N Drop-In Air filter on as well as a FlowMaster Cat Back 3" exhaust system. I got improved HP with each modification but just didn't see the increase in pulling power that I thought I'd get.

A friend suggested the Mileage Master from Jacob's Ultra Team line. I installed it and WHAT a Difference! My truck used to crank some and now it fires off instantly! Throttle responce has been much better. My exhaust pipe used to be fairly dark on the inside but now it's a light gray.

Can't say my mileage went up. On a 460CU I'm not sure anything will give you increased mileage. But it hasn't gone down any and I'm pulling the hills much better.

Overall...Very satisfied. A little difficult to find a place for everything out of the way and cleanly mounted...But do-able. I read the spark plug wire problem that one person talked about in his review. I have not had that experience at all. You have to assemble the Distributer ends of the spark plug wires on most applications and I could see where, if you didn't get that right, there might be problems. Other than that I don't know. The wires work just fine for me.

Only stock ignition systems and Accel High performance coils. Definitely a much better way to go. Taylors the spark instead of just increasing voltage.

Strength:

gained one torque

Weakness:

loses horsepower
heavy
hard to find space for
doesn't come with spark wires

This product got my hopes up when I first purchased it. I thought it would of given me at least some horsepower gain but instead I lost 5 horsepower when I got it dyno tested. That was the most disappointing thing that ever happened to me. I actually got it dynoed at another city like 300 km away. what a waste of gas too.
