K & N Fuel Injection Performance Kits Intakes/Filters

K & N Fuel Injection Performance Kits Intakes/Filters

DESCRIPTION

The K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK) dramatically reduces intake restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and torque throughout the engine's RPM range, with even greater power gains in turbocharged and supercharged engines. FIPKs are available for many popular performance vehicles, and are designed to replace the original air filter case without jeopardizing important emission standards. Exempted by the California Air Resource Board, FIPKs make it possible to experience the rapid acceleration of enhanced air flow while meeting the tough emissions standards of C.A.R.B.. These FIPKs are washable, reusable and backed by K&N's unique 10 year Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Strength:

Increased horsepower and more immeditae response when you step on the gas pedal.

Weakness:

Actually decreased my gas mileage instead of increasing it. However this varys from vehicle to vehicle I have a friend with a Ford f-250 and his mileage went up 7 mpgs. from what I understand the S-10 is not the norm and most experience better MPGs. I am considering buying another K&N cold air intake for my 2003 Nissan Xterra to increase my MPGs. I am still very happy I bought the system and would recommend it for anyone who owns a 2.2L 4cyl S-10 since it has such a dramatic increase in performance.

Can be a bit loud when accelerating but maybe you want that.

Noticed immediate increase in horsepower which was much needed in this little truck! More responsive acceleration right when you step on the gas. I mainly purchased the K&N cold air intake filter system so I could increase my fuel economy which didn’t seam to happen infact I think I dropped one or two mpgs. That being said I am very happy I bought it, the 2.2 4 cyl S-10 was a little scary to drive before I installed the filter due to sever lack of power. I would not say it’s a muscle truck by any means, but now I can pass people on the highway and have ample power to speed up when I need to. If I had to guess I would say it increased my horsepower by 15 to 25. I have now put 40,000 miles on the truck with the new filter and just cleaned it for the first time last night, it was easy to clean just purchase the K&N cleaner and oil and follow the directions

Strength:

HP increase.
Much improved Throttle Response
MPG (got 2 mpg increase on highway)
Awesome sound
Easy Install

Weakness:

Hit on the wallet comparable to a kick in the groin.
Hoped for a little more low end HP but it is still a nice improvement and really starts to kick around 3k rpm.

I just bought the kit for my burb and drove 900 miles on a trip. I'm very happy with it - the big lug is a lot more fun to drive now. I already have a set of flowmaster 40 series fart cans and the sound is even better with the K&N kit. SWEET!!!!!!!! The airbox is a little bulky in the engine compartment but overall it looks much cleaner than stock. I'd recommend this kit to anyone who has an upgraded exhaust or is planning to upgrade. Don't bother spending the $$$ on an intake if you don't let it breathe better.

Looks good, installs easy, adds value for an aftermarket upgrade.

Weakness:

none really, most would say the cleaning. but you gotta clean if you want it to perform like it should.

I used a K&n drop-in filter before i bought this intake kit. With the smoother air flow, bigger filter my turbo spools up quicker way more throttle response. i would higly reccomend this intake kit over any other like air-raid, AEM. Just plain and simple you get more bang for your buck and the warranty is the best on the market as far as engine protection goes.

Strength:

Easy installation
Powerfull, not flashy looks
Nice power gains
improved throttle response

Weakness:

A bit messy to service

This is the first performance product that I have purchased. I was very pleased with the increased power and torque, but I was most excited by the increased throttle response.
Through research done prior to my purchase, I knew that I could expect about 15 hp in gains, and for $225, I felt it was a very resonable purchase. I knew that this wasn't a supercharger, and I wasn't a two hour bolt on away from being a Corvette beater, but 15 hp is a great place to start.
I am very satisfied.

Strength:

-Easy installation -Improved performance -Never have to buy a replacement air filter again -Looks trick

Weakness:

None so far

I put this on my 4.3L V6 that already has a Gibson split rear exhaust and reprogrammed computer via a Hypertech II. I immediately noticed increased throttle response, more top end power and a slight improvement in low end torque. As for better mileage I am still on the first tank of gas. Installation was a breeze only taking me about 40-50 minutes

Improved Performance and Gas Mileage if you drive normally

Weakness:

None

I just installed my K&N FIPK today and have noticed a great gain in performance. Acceleration has greatly improved as well as top end performance. I am definitely satisfied with the results and recommend anyone with a Jeep Cherokee Sport to buy one. My friend has the same kit on his Explorer and it isn't as good but has definitely made a difference on my Jeep. This was not hard to install at all. I am not mechanically inclined and had no trouble installing this.

Model Reviewed: K&N FIPK Gen2 57-2528

Strength:

Easy to install, looks impressive in the engine bay, makes the V6 sound like a bigger, more powerful engine. Repeat, it only improved the SOUND of my engine.

Weakness:

No detectible, noticeable improvement in engine performance. No one else who's driven my SUV notices any difference, either. Too expensive considering what you get in the kit: with a name like "Gen2" I'd at least expect it to LOOK like it was worth a couple hundred bucks.

Installed a FIPK Gen2 designed for my Ford Explorer XLT, V6 SOHC. No other mods to the engine. Install was simple and took 2 1/2 hours. I do a lot of hauling, picking up household and business donations for my workplace, including furniture, desks and old computers. The Gen2 kit comes with a cheap-looking plastic air intake tube, replacement air vent tube, some clamps, some stickers, and the conical open-air filter. I agree with other reviewers' observations that under 2000rpm, no performance improvement is detected (at least not thru my foot). Above 2500rpm AND while downshifting, there is a noticeable growl from engine as it sucks in larger volume of air, BUT I STILL CAN'T FEEL ANY INCREASED ACCELERATION OR POWER. Hearing any so-called improvements vs. "feeling" it are two different things. K&N has a graph showing about an 8hp gain using the FIPK Gen2, but again, I don't detect it. Mileage has remained constant between 18-20mpg. Increased throttle response, quicker acceleration, and better gas mileage were reasons I installed the FIPK, and on all 3 counts it has failed to deliver. I am very disappointed. I hope the K&N guys are reading this. I have read unbiased reviews of air intake kits and I understand that they do impart some level of increased performance. However I FIPK Gen2 did nothing for my SUV except to give it a growl, but to be fair I would suggest to readers to try it out, along with other manufacturers' kits, to see if it does anything for them. I will be doing the same to see if another manufacturer's kit can deliver on the promises of aftermarket air intake kits.

Good fit and easy install. Top end power increase you can feel.

Weakness:

Loss of low rpm throttle respnse.

I installed the FIPK a year ago and I am pleased with the results.A slight loss of throttle response below 2500rpm but worth the trade for top end power.A whistle can be heard at part throttle under load but you can really hear it pull the air at WOT,it sounds wicked! Reusable filter is great.Improved gas mileage over stock when driven easy.Decreased mileage compared to stock when driven hard.

Improved pickup, power. Sound. Easy installation.

Weakness:

Not much difference at low rpm's and a little pricey when you consider what you actually got.

With a four cylinder engine, I was dying to find a way to increase my horsepower. Thankfully, the K&N Air Intake did this. You can definately feel improvements in pickup, power, and throttle response. Unfortunately, I think it still lacks at low rpm's. I also installed the tornado to gain better mpg's. All in all, I think it was a great buy, but now I want more horsepower, anyone got any suggestions.
