K & N Fuel Injection Performance Kits Intakes/Filters

K & N Fuel Injection Performance Kits Intakes/Filters

DESCRIPTION

The K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK) dramatically reduces intake restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and torque throughout the engine's RPM range, with even greater power gains in turbocharged and supercharged engines. FIPKs are available for many popular performance vehicles, and are designed to replace the original air filter case without jeopardizing important emission standards. Exempted by the California Air Resource Board, FIPKs make it possible to experience the rapid acceleration of enhanced air flow while meeting the tough emissions standards of C.A.R.B.. These FIPKs are washable, reusable and backed by K&N's unique 10 year Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Model Reviewed: FIPK

Strength:

Much better design than the OEM air intake. Improves power and efficiency considerably.

Weakness:

none

Just installed the air intake kit on my 2002 Chevy Silverado 5.3l. The improvement is dramatic, with hp gains very noticeable across even low rpm's, where we do most of our driving. The truck runs smoother, shifts smoother, and passing cars is now a breeze.

Strength:

great air flow design

Weakness:

difficult to reach filter

my car was used when i bought it so the fipk was already installed. i pulled the whole thing out to clean it with the k&n cleaning kit. the kit used a soap like product to get the filter element white again. it then used a second spray of oil to make the filter pink. it flows air pretty good and beats the heck out of the stock air box. a bit pricey for some molded plastic on the average but my automatic walks away from anything stock. the screw on my Z has to be reached by feel only. there is no way see it where the filter attaches to the air box. thats about the only draw back though.

Model Reviewed: 2002 Civic EX

Strength:

-VERY loud when vtec kicks in. sounds almost like a turbo -very noticeable low/mid range gains, torque and hp ... around 2500-5000 rpms -increased gas milage -increased throttle response

Weakness:

-Not much high end gains, maybe 1-3 hp -short ram ... sucks in warm air from the motor -low end power from 0-2500 rpms has decreased

Ok, what an idiot I am. Why would I buy an american product for an import car? It really doesn't make much sense. Well, basically I was using a stock airbox before. When vtec kicks in, it screams like crazy... even in my little sohc civic. There seems to be a significant low end gain, but the high end gains are not anything great. the fipk is basically a short ram for a civic. I don't know if the heat shield works, though it probably does. I don't know what the intake is made of, but it does NOT get hot at all. Only using a stock airbox, I don't know how well Injen, AEM or any of those other cold air intakes perform ... maybe I'm giving a biased opinion. The installation wasn't bad EXCEPT for fitting a rubber hose-like object around the heat shield... that was CRAZY hard ... with the corners anyway. Also, when installing, make sure to reset the ecu like the instructions tell u to ... otherwise your powerband will be very uneven

Stock Airbox. The only performance mod I have is a custom 2 1/4" exhaust with a universal 5zigen fireball style muffler.

Strength:

increased power tremendously and sounds good too.

Weakness:

you tell me?

The FIPK is the best thing that has happened to jeep so far. I can definitely feel a noticable increase in power especially when running at higher RPM's, like passing up slow people on the highway! I just love the way it sounds too. It also made climbing hills much easier.

-Sound -over 20hp gained (in overall rpms)

Weakness:

-Installing this in a z28 was a bitc* u have to pretty much cut the lower bracket in the car with wont effect the car its dead steel

K&n is where its at yea there are some other companys around such as slp an so on but this setup is the best for its price not only was it kinda easy to put in u can feel the throttel response an a difference in the sound. The power gain u wont be able to feel at low rpms but when the rpms are mid u can def feel it!..When u compare the old intake tube to the k&n tube its a different world the stock intake sucks balls..cold air induction is where its at.

Model Reviewed: K&N FIPK plus helical spacer

Strength:

Increased power. Better gas mileage- a 2MPG increase on hwy.

Weakness:

cleaning the filter is a bit messy.

Installed K&N FIPK system and a helical throttle body spacer on my Ford truck-4.6 L V-8.Noticeable power increase at all rpm, most noticeable towing a trailer or climbing long hills. The whistle reported by some people only occurs under heavy throttle on my vehicle. Can still use regular gas, unlike some performance computer chips.

Similar Products Used:

K&N filter without the FIPK tube on other vehicles-worth doing with the universal mount that allows removal of the original airbox, otherwise minimal improvement if you retain the original airbox.

throttle response, looks, much better flow than any after market lid

Weakness:

Price, having to cut the AI hose for the seconf K&N filter will make it hard to switch the stock box back.

No matter where you purchase it from the price for the kit for a 2002 Camaro is going to be steep, but WELL worth it!

I love hearing the whislte of the intake when I give her the gas.

Weakness:

Installation will requier more than one person. But it is not that difficult.

The FIPK really does add some kick to my V6. I have noticed that when driving with the A/C on, i have more power than i did before i had the kit. My car feels stronger when i downshift and she seems very eager to get going. I love this product.
