Strong Material, smooth

Weakness:

No real HP improvement for a diesel

Hi, i just bought a K&N Filter for my Ford Mondeo Turbo Diesel. At first, I noticed nothing special but after a while I got the feeling that between 2000 rpm and 2500rpm it gets more throttle. I paid 70Euro for my Filter and I'm pleased with it. This weekend, I'm gonna drive a few 100 kms so I will see what it will do when I'm driving 160 km/h.

Strength:

Dramatic difference in the way your car takes off and rides.

Weakness:

None so far, just that you have to buy the cleaners and oil to restore the filter for continued use. Of course, in the long run this saves you money because your not out replaceing air filters after every 10,000 miles.

I Have a 1988 Ford Mustang Gt and I am very pleased with the improved throttle response that the K&N filter gave the car. In Addition to better acceleration I also get an unbelievably smoother ride considering the car is 16 years old. I can confidently say that the K&N has truely given my better gas mileage, acceleration and 10% more horse power. For the results you get the price for a K&N is certainly more than reasonable. For a difficult person to please, I am very pleased. Makes a great addition to your muscle car!

Strength:

Much increased torque, especially noticable in low and mid range. A %or so more BHP Much reduced turbo-lag Great sound

Weakness:

Better IME to fit an element than a whole induction kit (dome+piping - very obvious) as nobody will know and there won't be any silliness with your insurers. And to tell the truth, I think the elements tend to work as well as the more expensive and difficult-to-install induction kits.

I've used K&N filters an all my cars, and thought it time I wrote a review in case someone reading here needed reassuring as to their effectiveness. Rest assured, a K&N filter will reduce resistance of airflow, definitely increasing torque and BHP. On the road, what you actually notice is increased low and mid range pulling and smoothness, and reduced lag if you have turbos. You also get a lovely induction roar when you're pulling hard. Without a doubt they are worth the money, given the improvements they make to your engine performance. Always my first step in upgrading my cars.

Strength:

-Increase in HP and Torque -better fuel economy

Weakness:

-None unless you do not like the increased noise

The price of the filter was not $130, but I bought a custom CAI system from someone for that price with a K&N filter. After my friend and I put this on my car, there was a definite increase in power in the upper RPM's. There was a noticeable increase in noise over the stock airbox, but it made the car sound better, plus I knew it could breathe better. Fuel ecnonomy has improved by a small amount too.

Strength:

Increased Horsepower, Torque, and MPG. Lower's RPMs. The oil based system will clean the air better than a stock air filter.

Weakness:

Will not remove intake bottleneck, just the filter will not be the bottlenext in the air intake system, the stock box will be because most are not designed to pass the same CFM of air as the K&N is. Requires cleaning at 50K miles.

I installed a K&N Air Filter on my 1999 Ford Ranger 2.5L I4 Engine. The K&N added almost 1 mile per gallon. I was getting between 19 to 22 miles per gallon, after that I installed a Tornado Air circulator and that added between .5 to 1 mile per gallon, next I added an electric fan and I didn't see much gas mileage increase but I could feel a significate increase in low end torque, but the disadvantage was the truck would starve for air sometimes when I would mash the fuel quickly (Like it was flooding out). Next, I modified my Air Filter Box, by just removing the round tube that connects the airbox to the front of the body. This in effect almost doubles the area for air flow into the K&N without cutting on the stock airbox. If you install a K&N you will more than likely not get the full benefits unless you modify your Airbox on any vehicle or just purchase the K&N's FIPK system. I am now getting between 24 and 26 MPG but I have spent about $500 to get there. Depending on your average mileage on your daily commute you may or may not want to go as far as I did. Sincerely, R. Strength:

A noticeable increase in power and decrease in gas consumption!

Weakness:

I haven't observed any yet. I don't intend on cleaning the filter after 50,000 miles. At that low price, I'll replace it.

I purchased the product 2 days ago and am pleased to report its living up to the hype!

Strength:

-lets more air into the engine theoretically increasing HP and torque -reusable

Weakness:

pretty expensive compared to paper filters... but I guess that's expected

1/2 an hour ago, I just installed a K&N filtercharger in my 2001 civic LX (automatic). Its a family car which is in need of a little spice. Installation was easy. The unit fit perfectly into the filter box and the whole job was done in about 15 minutes (it would have taken 10 but my neighbor dropped by to check out the filter and chat). After installing it, I started the engine and kept the hood open and put my hand over the air intake to feel the air flow (yeah yeah, really scientific, I know). With the other hand, I pulled the throttle cable to rev the engine. The air that the engine sucked in was GREATLY improved from when I had my original paper filter. Wow! SO I got in the car and took it for a test drive. Any gains in power were almost imperceivable. I think I may have felt a little extra power on the highway while I was passing... but that could be psychological or attributed to wind (since the feather weight civic is very much affected by wind). I did notice that the engine sounded like it didn't have to work as hard, or rev as high as it used to, and to my ear, sounds a little quieter and smoother. All told, the K&N didn't give me the amazing results that I have read from other users... To me the whole K&n filtercharger experience can be somewhat compared to knowing your wife has sexy underwear on. Just by looking on the outside, you can't see anything different, but just knowing the fact that its on, makes you feel excited and secretly strong. Maybe that just what this family man with a family car needs.

Quiet, smooth acceleartion, increase in low end torque

Weakness:

None

I had a short ram air intake system for about 1 year. During the year I noticed that I had less torque and more noise with the intake system than stock airbox from 2500-3500rpm. I went back with the stock air box and bought the K&N Filter. After resetting ECU ,I noticed increase in torque and smoother acceleration to redline.Much better for around town driving.

Strength:

More power. Easiest HP upgrade possible. Cheapest HP upgrade out there. Available for almost any car.

Weakness:

Can't think of one.

When I first got my Chevy S10, I noticed that the lousy four cylinder had no pickup whatsoever. As bolt-ons for the 4 cylinder engine are extremely rare and since I was a high school student, the only thing I could afford was the K&N filter. So I popped it in in the middle of the parking lot and the minute I backed out the space, I felt more power. The trip home was incredible. Even though it may be about a 2hp gain, the torque was improved alot.

Strength:

Increases engine's power/torque. Not by much, but noticeable and greatly appreciated by this owner.

Weakness:

I've read that in dusty conditions probably shouldn't be used? Slightly higher intial cost, but should pay for itself in the long run.

Recently purchased a used '99 Protege LX w/1.6L and auto transmission and I felt I needed to somehow get a little more power from the engine. Happened to read these reviews and decided to give a try. It has delivered exactly what I was hoping for! Just a little more hp/torque. Noticed the improvement immediately. I recommend highly. If they don't work to your satisfaction, I'm sure you could return (within the return period) for a complete refund if bought from a major retailer. Check. So, try for yourself and decide! I'm keeping mine.
