Strength:

Great air flow, excellent build quality, long life = lower cost. I experienced better fuel economy.

Weakness:

Independent tests show less filtration than some other filters

Was very skeptical of claims on better milage and power increases people claim but am a believer of the milage part now. I came back from Fl on I95 and averaged 29.5 on my 525 with a stock paper filter that still looked clean. Changed up to the K&N model and went to NC this weekend on I85 and I40 and averaged 31.5. Can't attest to any power increase, there must be some else I would not see an decrease in fuel consumption but any change is small and for me unnoticeable.

I mainly bought this for the long service life and hoped to see a little decrease in fuel consumption.

Overall the filter met my expectations. There is still the worry of more air=less filtration so am I letting too much dust into the engine. Guess I will trust K&N on that one.

Strength:

Strong throttle response. Smoother idle. Horsepower gains. Low-end torque gains. Personal gain of 2 mpg. Performs the same as no filter at all (high-flowing filter), but not using a filter is obviously not something you should do.

Weakness:

Water can pass through easily. (Not a worry with cars, but hicks in Wyoming like to drive halfway through ponds, which is just begging for an engine seize.)

I have had a K&N Filtercharger on my Camaro for almost 3 years. I have a 77 Corvette engine and even when the filter is dirty (I live in Wyoming, so lots of dust and wind) the throttle response is easily twice as good as the brand new paper filters I have used. I bought a prefilter for it from Jegs, which helps out a lot. Don't have to clean the filter as much and no difference in air flow. The increase in horsepower and low-end torque was immediately noticeable. Throttle response is also very good. I have turned many of my friends on to this filter, and over the years I have noticed the biggest boost in overall performance in the bigger displacement engines, not so much anything under 4.0 liters.

Strength:

smooth shifting engine, great gas mileage, sporty design, hard to believe that this car has been shipped across the ocean and is going on 14years old.

Weakness:

paint is beginning to peel on the hood(very petty!I'm hearing that it is very common with this era Acura/Honda),I wish that it had a couple of more horses-but it is not bad!

I simply CAN NOT believe that this car is 13 years old ?!?!?!?! Other than the styling cues, it looks and runs like it is new.All of this says alot about the integrity of these Acura/Honda vehicles. When I purchased this vehicle, it had 92,000 miles on it.In my opinion this car was a bargain!I like this ALOT better than an Eagle Talon from the same time period that I used to have.

Strength:

reasonable price, never needing to replace the air filter agian, quality

Weakness:

No gain in fuel efficiency

After reading many reviews I decided to take a reasonably inexpensive risk and purchase a K & N air filter for my honda. I bought hoping I could squeek out a few more miles in my tank. I knew it would be hard to extract any more horsepower from the 4 cylinder engine just with a simple filter change so I wasn't expecting much. After installing the product I did notice a slightly quicker throttle response indicating a possible power improvement. As for fuel economy, there was no change. But I wasn't completely disappointed because the filter also gave the engine a slightly deeper tone to it under hard acceleration. Also the extra couple of horsepower helped me feel overall satisfied with the purchase.

Strength:

-More power throughout all RPMs -Noticeable MPG improvement -Adds a hint of a muscly growl

Weakness:

None

Not an extreme increase in power but excellent for price paid. I haven't measure d exactly but I can tell theres an increase in gas milage. My taurus prior to installing the K & N air filter had a decent amount of torque at the low end but its performance would weaken at higher RPMs. Now my car accelerates solidly through to redline. Given that I removed the intake silencer my car also has a deeper growl to it. All in all, as long as you aren't running on a weak 4 cyl. the K & N should unlock a few horses for you.

Model Reviewed: Ford Explorer V6 4.0L

Strength:

Takes away all of the power restriction

Weakness:

None

I put in just the stock replacment, not the intake. There is almost no restriction at all when I rev the engine, I noticed a power gain right of the bat. It also adds a little hissing sound that makes it sound like you have a little something extra under the hood (turbo?) All in all you can not really go wrong with this purchase, because it is way better than the stock paper filter. Plus, the filter last a lifetime and at $15 bucks a pop times a lifetime is way more than the $50 for the K&N. Don't hesitate to buy this product it works, that is why everyone talks about.

Strength:

Solid improved acceleration and more aggressive tone.

Weakness:

A few extra coins returned with great value

Excellent! Improved acceleration and slighly more throaty growl to the engine. Seems to rev much smoother and definitely pulls more solidly through the rev range. High praise is deeply deserved.

Strength:

Engine runs smoothly. Eliminated the bump from the gear changes.

Weakness:

None whatsoever

If you haven't already made up your mind about this product after all the good reviews, I strongly urge you to go out and get one right now. Upon installing the product I noticed my engine runs much smoother and the small bump I detected when my automatic transmission shifted is gone. This product absolutely works and is really easy to install. As for the increased horsepower, I can't notice the difference but I'm sure it's there.

Strength:

Easily felt power increase. Nice throaty sound under the hood.

Weakness:

Was not original equipment!

I just bought my first air filter element for my wife's Lincoln LS V6. Wow! I've switched most of my previous cars over to the K&N but I didn't expect such a big change here on the Lincoln. When the engine revs above 3000rpm, the surge is undeniably greater and the sound is nice too. The engine seems smoother at high rpms now too. Impressive.
