Strength:

Super sticky. Side wall stiffness.

Weakness:

Kind of hard to chirp 2nd and 3rd like before, but then again, now I know my power is put to the pavement so it's not really a weakness.

I've had these on my GT for more than a year now and love them. Tire noise is not an issue for me because I'm running an X-pipe with no cats. For the uninitiated, that means that my car is LOUD. The tires could be screaming and I wouldn't know it. They are super sticky. Once they grip, they don't want to let go. They have a very stiff sidewall so even with 55 series in the back I can take corners much faster than I thought I would be able to. Drivers that want a beefy tire in the back and want a quick bite and launch versus a big burnout and losing should take a look at these tires. They've been a bit squirrely for me before they warm up though. I don't mind.

Strength:

Wet handling. I floor my car as often even in rain, and it handles very well. Never spun even one so far.

Weakness:

Noise especially at high speeds, and sometimes grip when u try to give too much wheelspin.

Excellent tires for price and longetivity.

Strength:

Looks, feel in corners and rain.

Weakness:

High maintenance must rotate and check air constantly. Poor ware for short term, very noisy, sounds like your loosing your wheel bearings.

Great Looking tires! Make sure you rotate every other week. Not a bad ride for high performance tires, great in corners and rain. Should have lasted longer with proper care and instruction.

Strength:

Grip - dry and wet Wear and handling

Weakness:

noise - not bad if you rotate the tires for even wear.

Afordable performance. Good value in a high performance tire. I have more than 25,000 miles on these tires and I'm in my third year with them. In my application, 225/50-16 on a 87 supra turbo, they feel really solid and responsive without being harsh. Braking, cornering, accelerating - they just stick. I don't have to worry about the tires.

Strength:

Erm.... they look OK.

Weakness:

Appalling noise, poor ride quality, grip in wet or dry.

Can't wait to change these tyres. At 15K miles with plenty of tread left they make a noise like all my wheel bearings are failing. I even had the wheel bearings checked out by a porsche shop, this cost almost as much as the tyres. Grip in the wet is poor, grip in the dry isn't great either. I'm now looking at throwing them away with half the tread left.

Will try Yokoham ES100s or Pirelli P zeros next.

Strength:

Wet grip, tracking through standing water, wet braking. Very predictable at the limit.

Weakness:

Good, but not the best dry cornering. Treadwear - with excellent care and not overly enthusiastic driving, they are done at around 20,000 miles.

An excellent high-performance tire, superb in the wet! While I have driven tires with better terminal grip on dry pavement, I have never had a tire with better performance in the rain - especially when the water starts to stand on the road. If wet-handling (and overall good performance) is a priority for you, this is an excellent choice. BTW - they do get noticably louder with age, but not "deafening" by any measure. Certainly nothing to be bothered by.

Strength:

Quiet, Grippy, Rigid, Good tread wear rating

Weakness:

they weren't free

These tires are incredible. I people tell me on the acura-legend.com forums that they were a great tire, but I didn't expect all that much more out of them than my $190 Michelin Pilot Sports. I was amazed right away after the first turn that I had them on. They gripped so well and were so quiet, unlike my Michelins which felt all to easily like they were reaching their limits, by squealing very easy. The squealing would also attract usually unwanted attention. I'm using these tires on my 17x7 wheels and they are 215/45/17's. I also have the new Gen.2 version of these tires which are supposedly supposed to quiet down the road noise quite a bit. My car is lowered on Koni adjustables and Eibach Pro-Kit springs, along with some other suspension mods so I've been really pushing these tires and they have been great. I'd highly recommend them even though I can't comment on their weather performance yet.

Weakness:

Tire wear

Very respectable tire for a good price. Excellent traction in both dry and wet conditions. Much better than the stock Michelin's that came with the car. Only complaint was I'm seeing a lot of tire wear very prematurely. Down to half tread at only 10,000 miles of use.

Model Reviewed: 1989 Toyota MR2

Strength:

Excellent Grip in Wet and Dry. I was very impressed with the grip in rain. They never squeel. Great Handling with Tekicko Illumina 5-Way Structs. Looks good on my MR2

Weakness:

Quicker wear then other tires, but this is fairly normal with high grip tires. For me $88 bux is almost ok. I would recomend them for smaller, lighter cars.

I read the other reviews and they complain about 10k wear and loud noise. The noise is from un-even wear, make sure you get a 4 wheel alighment after you put these on. I had that problem on my Lexus ES300 where my Mitchelin tires were wearing unevenly, every other notch around the tire was short wich made a loud noise when you drove. On the Protenza, its been 5,000 miles since I had them, and I see that they are wearing, but not as fast as others say since my car is light. I believe they wear fast because they make me drive more agressively. you can see some photos here(copy and paste) http://www.techroot.net/images/mr2/
