Falken ZE-502 ZIEX Tires

Falken ZE-502 ZIEX Tires

DESCRIPTION

These ultra performance tires take driving to a whole new level. Extra wide, straight grooves, combined with twin traverse grooves provide excellent wet performance, water disbursement and help prevent hydroplaning. Twin straight rib design enhances handling, while A.P.P.L.E.-designed noise treatment helps filter out road noise. Rim protectors guard against friction on wheels, and a dual tread compound provides split-second response and grip.

Strength:

unreal(for the cost) dry and wet grip, price for the performance is just ridiculous(compared to other tires out in the market now), and it makes you feel comfortable knowing that your tire wont fail in the rain and put you through the concrete median (which happened to my last car-yoko tires & yoko on the rear)

Weakness:

just ugly looking (without a custom wheel with a lip), road feel isn't as that good when cornering, but still solid and stable, and wear on the tire is fairely fast (when driven under a semi harsh conditions)

For all you people who're looking for a good set of all season/high performance tires and don't want to pay too much, then read this. This is a review for ze 502 and ze 512(which superceded ze 502). if you must get between those two, get falken ziex ze 512. It is absolutely the best tire for the money or better. It outperforms michellins, toyo, yokohomas, nitto and dunlop in both the rain and dry. Grip is amazing, almost as good or better than $160 per tire tires. I was most satisfied at the comfort level that i feel from wet grip. I don't feel nervious or frustrated because i know the tire just wont stop working and go into a hydroplane (which happened both on nitto and yokos too often). the wear level is 360 and A grade ratings. It's also m+s (mud and snow) approved. The ze 512 has a better design then the 502 and i could say that all the problems from 502 (lack of wet traction) has been taken care of. The tire wall feels good (ply design, not radial) because my cars lowered and it's actually nicer with stiffer tires on. the only prob i had with it was that handling feel isn't that great if you have a understeer car. It feels mush at lower speeds (10 - 40mph) but stable at higher speed (40 - 110mph). I strongly recommend ze 512 to all of you who wants the best performance/all season tires that wont cost more than your custom wheels.

Strength:

Performance in all conditions for the first 10K-15K miles. Price.

Weakness:

Performance in all conditions after the first 10K-15K miles. You get what you pay for.

Tires were great when new on dry and wet roads. They now have close to 30K miles and are horrible when it rains and noisy dry. Like any performance tire, pressure and rotation are critical to tire life.

Great tires. I live in the Caribbean and have been pounding thses tires since 1998 and they are perfect. I am totally sold on Falkens. In fact next year May 2003 I'll be buying 205/55/15 ze-502's up from 205/60/13

Strength:

Price, noise (lack of)

Weakness:

Wet traction. Snow traction. Very slippery in a rwd car (XR4Ti). Worst tires in 13 years of ownership with this car.

Adequate tire. Decent in dry weather, poor traction in wet and snow. Hard to accelerate in my rwd car in the wet- very slippery. Will be replacing them with more than 70% tread remaining.

Strength:

Good grip on the road, wet or dry. Relatively inexpensive.

Weakness:

Not sure yet. (Haven't used it long enough.)

I'm not sure if everyone is reviewing the same product here. How can some people complain about the short-lived tire treads and other people talk about how long it lasts? Maybe it's the different sizes that are coming in to play? My tires are 215/40/ZR17. I haven't had these tires for very long but they have great grip - in dry or wet. They are rather stiff so if you hit any small deformations in the road you will feel it. They're not too noisy. Just buy a good sound system and turn it up! :) Buy these tires if you are running on OEMs and you want an inexpensive upgrade to performance tires.

Strength:

Cheap price.

Weakness:

Noisy, weak sidewalls, hard to balance, feather easily.

These tires were good at the begining, but now they are not wearing evenly and don't balance easily. They are noisy as hell and feather too easy, I sound like a SUV when driving down the freeway. They also have weak sidewalls, all four of mine have cracks. They are also extremely hard tires and the ride is very rough. Not buying these again.

Strength:

-Good All Season tire (except winter) -Excellent traction on dry roads -Stable during high speeds -handles well on hard cornering -looks good

Weakness:

-bad traction on snow and ice -I had to buy seperate snow tires which does raise the overall cost of these tires.

I''ve had these tires for 7 months now and have seen only a slight wear on them (Ive done a few heavy burnouts), I use 205/40R16, 34psi fr and 32psi rr. I found these tires to handle well during dry conditions, and OK in wet conditions (Those complaing about sliding during wet conditions, "LEAEN TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN!"), however these tires are horible on snow. The tires also handled well on hard cornering and is extremely stable driving fast, Ive gone plenty of times over 210 kmh. Surprisingly I find these tires arecomfortable during normal driving, however are hard on pot holes (what do u expect from a low profile tire). Overall I''m very satisfied with these tires.

Strength:

Directional tire + EXCELLENT traction in the rain Great wear(life) on tire

Weakness:

Needs to have a softer compound. Sidewall is +/- (alright) $$$ too much (205-40-17) current tire size

Great over all tire, the tire needs to have a softer compound. I have NEVER had a problem in the rain with these tires i''ve had the tires for 3 years (they have an excellent center channel) hence, LEARN HOW TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN!!!. And yes after a burnout they do look like the asphalt!!. The tires I think are OVER priced. Great quiet tire, excellent handeling in all weather, road conditions.

low profile, lowers car w/o extras.

Weakness:

handeling, braking, accelerating ++

these tires are a waist of money. i''d recommend getting nitto 5 series, toyo, or yokohama race tires. they don''t handle good in rain, they screech to much when racing and by the time the tires grip the road your opponent is at the finish line. also they have to be replaced constantly due to tire poping. over all i''d give them a c- in rating.
