NONE

Weakness:

Apparently can't hold air for more than 48 hours.

I am certainly glad I've found something about these tires! I purchased my 2000 ZX3 in April of 2001 and have had to replace all four original tires in less than a year! Thats right, and they all went out due to these cracks that developed in the sidewall. Of course, every Firestone dealer also told me I needed to keep more air in my tires, but I don't think four tires in less than a year are due to not enough air. And now my fifth one is on it way out, I'm having to put air in it every other day! I have sent Firestone an email, but no response yet. And the Firehawk recall---the recall was on Firehawk GTA 02 205/55/R16's which experienced cracks in the sidewalls. Well guess what? I have Firehawk GTA 02 205/50/R16's....think they could be closely related? (the $450 price above is for three tires only! the fourth tire I replaced with a Goodyear)

Strength:

Decent durability. No blow-outs or other problems as mentioned in previous reviews.

Weakness:

Poor dry and especially wet grip. Insufficient grip in light snow. Noisy.

These tires are pretty bad. I got mine with my Saturn SC2 coupe, and their performance varies from poor to mediocre at best. When they wear out, I'll be happy to replace them with something better.

wet/dry traction good tire for the buck

Weakness:

As i approach the speed limit of these tires, i notice my steering feels looser and looser like the car will eventually drift or float away. it's a little scary, but otherwise, no other weaknesses

I really don't have any complaints about these tires. I upgraded from dunlop 185/65/14 to these in 205/50/16. i have gotten very good traction in all weather conditions. I don't know if it's because they're 20mm wider than the stokkies, but i can't get my car to spin out as easily as i used to. The tread wear is average, I got my 40,000 miles out of them. I drive very hard and these have never disappointed me. I would recommend these tires to anyone who drives like i do, and lives in similar conditions (florida weather).

noise bad wear there should be a recall on these

The car came with Firestone Firehawks GTA . I had concerns about these tires right from the start but the salesman assured me that I would have no trouble. When I went to get the state inspection (20000miles) the tires would not pass...they had completely worn out in less than a year. Ford said "we'd replace them if it was one or two, but not all 4 unless the Firestone dealer says they're worn prematurely" The Firestone dealer said if he replaced the tires, when he sent them in to Firestone they would say it was alignment or balancing and he wouldn't get reimbursed. so, no go there. Back to Ford who states they "are not authorized" to replace the tires unless the manufacturer gives them the go-ahead. I called Firestone and they said its not their fault because these tires are made to Ford's specifications to be softer(and wear quicker) so the car would get better gas mileage. These tires have also been so noisy that I wore ear protectors when I needed to drive on the highway. If I stayed below 25 MPH they were ok. So now I have to buy tires all around for a car that is still under 12 months old- I will never buy another Ford again if this dealer doesn't make good on these(I have bought 4 cars from this dealer) and I will NEVER EVER BUY FIRESTONES-

Weakness:

Unreliable.

Going down a paved highway, I noticed what seemed to be wind noise. I couldn't tell at first where the noise was coming from. The sound became louder and then all of a sudden I felt something go on the rear driver's side. I pulled over and found that the rear tire had completely blown and had separated all the way around on the ised. The model of tire is the Firestone Firehawk GTA 02 P195/15. In 30 years of driving, I have never had this happen to me. I took it back to the dealer. The clerk tried to pin the blame on me, saying that I didn't have the tire pressure high enough (the other three tires were fine and I remember looking at the tire before I left on the trip and it looked fine). They want to replace the tire with exactly the same model, but since I found out that there is a voluntary recall on a similar model, the Firehawk GTA 02 P205, i would feel much better if all four tires were replaced. This could cause a serious accident if it happened at the wrong time;

Stable in all situations, low noise level, minimal wear and they look great!

Weakness:

None. Will buy again when originals finally wear out.

The OE Firestone GTAs on my ZX3 have performed very well in all conditions. No problems at all after 12,000 miles of fairly agressive driving in all types of weather. Not sure why all the whining in many of the previous negative reviews.

Looks, handling, reliability, and snow traction.

Weakness:

They do hydroplane easily, and tread wear is average at best.

When I first purchased my cavalier 3 years ago, it had some crap tires in it, in 80 series, and the car was scarry and downright dangerous to drive. My brother-in-law worked at the local tire shop and recommended these Firehawk GTA''s. They are 225/60/14. With the Firehawks installed, the cavalier was a new car. The tires have above average handling and high speed stability. They are also excellent in the snow. Milage is currently at at 32k, with about 40% tread remaining.

Good under ideal road conditions...dry, flat, straight.

Weakness:

sidewall integrity, rainy conditions

Wow! I thought I was the only one who hated these tires! They realy do suck. I hydroplaned my brand new car into a "Jersey Barrier" doing about 65 mph. Granted the speed for the condition may have been excessive, but with little or no warning the control was completely lost. This one cost about $8,500. to repair the body damage. Next one...I touched a curb while paralell parking and gashed my sidewall. $110. to fix. Last...I met a person who also hydroplaned under the exact same circumstances causing approximately the same damage to his Mercury Cougar. If you have em get rid of em!

Weakness:

THEY DO NOT HANDLE IN RAIN AND ESPECIALLY IN SNOW

I HAVE BEEN A COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER FOR OVER TEN YEARS, I ALSO DRIVE EMERGENCY VEHICLES AT HIGH SPEEDS, IN ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS, I HAVE OWNED FRONT WHEEL DRIVES, REAR WHEEL DRIVE, I HAVE DRIVEN AN OLD CAR THAT I PAID $75.00 FOR THAT CAME WITH 2 BALD FRONT TIRES AND NO HEATER, FOR 1 WINTER, AND I WILL TELL YOU NOW I HAVE DRIVEN THE WORST HANDLING VEHICLE, EVER WHEN I PURCHASED A SATURN SC2 WITH THESE FIRESTONE GTA''S. WHEN WE FINNALLY GOT OUR FIRST MINNESOTA SNOW I WAS REALLY EXITED TO DRIVE IN IT WITH MY NEW CAR, AND I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED UNFORTUNATELY MY NIECE HAD DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE SAME VEHICLE, AND HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE TRYING TO DRIVE IN A MINNESOTA SNOW STORM, I HAVE TALKED TO MY SALESMAN AND I HAVE CALLED THE SATURN 800 NUMBER. I DON''T BELIEVE THEM ANY MORE, CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM ONCE YOUR 30 DAYS ARE UP. I DO BELIEVE THAT THEY KNOW THE FIRESTONE GTA DOES NOT BELONG IN MINNESOTA, OR ANY OTHER STATE THAT GETS SNOW OR RAIN, I HAVE TRIED TO SEE IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN MAKING ME A BELIEVER AGAIN, BUT THE CONVERSATION WITH MY SALESMAN AND WITH THEIR 800 NUMBER HAS LEAD TO A DEAD END. DON''T PURCHASE A VEHICLE WITH THESE TIRES UNLESS YOU LIKE THE VIEW FROM THE DITCH. VERY SINCERLY DAN WILDER MINNESOTA, USA

They fit on my wheels

Weakness:

Any weakness you could give a tire they have.

I have driven these tires in all seasons and they suck. They currently have 11,000 miles on them and they get worse with every additional mile. If I had the money to buy new tires I would have before these ones hit 1,000 miles. I do not know how these could be all season performance, they should be dry non performance tires and that is stretching it. In rain and snow it is like I don't even have tires on my car and I am trying to manuever on rims. If I had the choice of buying these tires I would not take them if they paid me at the tire shop and put them on for free. I am currently looking into pirelli p7000SS and other performance tires that will fit on the new rims that I want to buy. Don't be fooled by the price they aren't worth it. Don't ever trust Firestone, all their tires are garbage.
