Strength:

Excellent handling, looks, dry performance, quiet

Weakness:

Not as good in the rain as i was led to believe.
Wear

I selected these in a +1 size upgrade for my SVT based on a review on Tirerack.com. The stock Goodyears wore out fast, and were hard riding and noisy as well! These tire have been much more satisfactory in every way except for wear. This might have more to do with my driving style than I'd like to admit, though!
Here in Houston, we don't worry about snow or ice, just rain. These are OK, not exceptional.
Nezt go around, I'll probably try some Dunlops, just for a change.

Strength:

Incredible grip, very quiet, extremely capable in wet weather.

Weakness:

I have ZERO complaints!

I've never had a tire I enjoyed as much as these! Granted, I'm not a drag racer or the like, but I do enjoy high-speed transport. The majority of miles have occured at 75-80+ mph and I expect to get 40K+ miles out of them. These Texas summers are brutal and have noticed no sidewall cracks as mentioned by the other reviewers. I would tell anyone that any amount of money spent on these tires is money WELL-SPENT!

Strength:

Good grip wet or dry. Price reasonable for it's level of tire. No funy handling characteristics. I never hydroplaned on them in heavy rain.

Weakness:

UTOG 220. Basically that means the tires will wear out in 10K miles. My car is front drive so the rears don't wear out. Rotate them and get another 10K, Total 20K miles. et new tires. I won't get these again. Also I noticed that my right front tire has big cracks on the sidewall at he upper edge of the raised lettering

I don't think I would recommend it now especially the way things are going with Firestone tires. If it didn't develop those cracks I might. It' wear rate is just due to the UTOG rating.

Strength:

Excellent dry and wet grip. The tread patter looks cool.

Weakness:

Price. Short tread life.

I absolutely loved these tires. These are one of the best summer tires you can find. My only complaint is that they lasted me only one summer. I'd love to be able to buy them again, but I'm very hard on tires and at $180 a piece for 245/45ZR17's, I can't afford to buy a new set each year. I autocrossed with these tires and was beating my competitors who had race tires in the dry and street tires in the wet.

Strength:

it's good when it's dry, and it's a good-lookin tire!

Weakness:

don't think about it when it's wet as if the traction is 0, I almost had an accident with these tires. These tires slipped almost every time when it's wet!

recommended for those who like to force their car to the MAX =).

Strength:

Amazing traction wet and dry, and quiet too.

Weakness:

Wear extremely fast, and develop alot of cracks (in tire itself).

Paid $310 (CDN) per tire. I would recommend it if you have no problem buying a new set of tires every year and half, with no burn outs!

Model Reviewed: 00/EP model 225/55 -16

Strength:

Low road noise and smooth ride comfort

Weakness:

Lack of Steering response, turn-in and steering precision

The SZ50(EP)does not live up to it's claims of a true high performance tire by being too much of a compromise of comfort over performance. In most every performance measure it was worse than an older technology tire it replaced: steering response, turn-in, dry grip and body roll.

It was billed as a superior technology break-thru that was to provide a performance and durability step-up in it's price class, but was a step down. This tire is more suited to touring tire with some performance bias, but there are probably better and less costly choices. Unfortunately the GY GS-D 93V is no longer available. I am very dissapointed with the SZ50EPs.

Similar Products Used:

The Goodyear GS-D 93V (OEM spec for Dodge Stealth RT) had better steering response, turn-in,dry grip and wear. The GYs a somewhat harsher ride quality and slight tendancey to follow road grooves. I got 50 K miles from the GYs which is exceptionlly good. I estimate I'll get 20K miles from the Firestones which is only average.

Strength:

Great tire! Unparalleled wet traction and very good dry traction. Great wear characteristics. Good price

Weakness:

None

I paid $170 each for the 275/40/17 size. It was the best money I've ever spent on tires. I have put around 20,000 miles on them and they have at least another 10,000 miles in them. The rain traction is unbelievable and the dry traction is also excellent. If they are good enough for Kenny Brown (Mustang Tuner) to put on his cars, they're good enough for me! I would highly recommend these tire to anyone looking for optimum wet and dry handling at a reasonable price.

Strength:

This tire has a AA traction rating and I believe it. The traction in the dry is phenominal. The tire also wears extremely well.

Weakness:

Nothing

I paid $450 for the set installed. After a trip to the drag strip with about 8 runs on them and two trips to the auto-x these tires show very little wear at all. The traction is incredible in the dry, and more than adequate in the wet. I would highly recomend these tires to anyone who wants a tire that will last and grip well.
